If she'd built it on the Wounded Coast, she'd get attacked by bandits/mabari/spiders/Tal-Vashoth/banbarder-Vashoth hybrids every five minutes, and then the apostates would steal the Eluvian and sell it to that hermit merchant. I mean, she could buy it off him again, maybe, but it'd be a huge hassle.

And if she builds it in the city and it gets tainted she'll ruin hundreds of lives. Again it's the "it's all about me" factor. She was unwilling to take on some risk and instead let others take it for her. Also you're telling me a skilled bloodmage can't make a barrier? I highly doubt that. Also yeah what apostate is going to break into the bloodmagic barrier (which could then be guarded by spiders or whatnot) just to sell a mirror that doesn't even show a reflection and they have no idea what it does? Ignoring that what merchant worth his/her salt would buy a ugly mirror with a huge crack down the middle.

Also she can make it past a bunch of Tal-Vashoth as long as she looks broke (which she does). Not to mention the part of the wounded coasts with all the caves is on the other side. The bandits could be cleared easily enough by asking Hawke.

Also the thought that rivalry Hawke is against Merrill trying to better her people is laughable considering rival Hawke can suggest Merrill find other ways to help her people. (In general not anyone in specific). Wanting someone to find a less risky way to themselves and those around them to get information is hardly being a human supremacist.

There's also the fact that both Varric (Dwarf) and Fenris (Elf) also thought Merrill's trying to repair the Eluvian was a bad idea.

It still exists, showing that she cannot stop herself from keeping it. How long until she feels the need to fix it?

There's no evidence she continues working on it. In a romance, she never returns to her home in the Kirkwall Alienage, she moves in completely to the Amell manor. Assuming the Champion protected the mages from Meredith's Right of Annulment, she would likely never return to Kirkwall. In a romance, Merrill even remains at Hawke's side while he (or she) is on the run.

Unless you're suggesting she fit this huge, obtrusive, home-made Eluvian in her backpack while on the run.

But again, I am done, and this is getting off-topic.

I know that, I'm just asking what people would think the sexualities of Cassandra and Cullen would be  ^_^

Still have a feeling that the NPC romances will be Bisexual though and that the straight romances will be followers just like the gay romances are.

I hope so

There's also the thing that both Varric (Dwarf) and Fenris (Elf) also thought Merrill's trying to repair the Eluvian was a bad idea.

Varric thinks she should take a break from her work in one quest, and Fenris badmouths anything Merrill does for three entire Acts. More importantly, neither one knows anything about the Eluvian, and Fenris is an amnesic who only remembers his enslavement by the morally bankrupt Magister Danarius.

I'm hoping the advisors are BI also, but who knows. The Devs don't always do what we expect. I don't mind really as long as I enjoy the romance.

Same here, so long as they are enjoyable I don't mind anymore what sexualities the NPC romances have especially since I plan to try them all out anyway. Though could you imagine the whining from some less polite posters if the straight LIs were all NPCs? Not saying everyone who complains would be rude but I could see a lot of rude complaints coming forth from that.

Understandable.  What I will say that I'm pretty happy that Cassandra's a romantic interest.  Mostly because she looks really good in the new graphics engine.

Aside from one shot I've seen of her I've liked how she's looked in the shots we've seen I especially like her scars gives me hope that we can put some scars on our PC as well. I don't know much about her personality aside from the little shown in DA2 but I'm sure a lot of people are excited over her for a good reason  ^_^

The whole advisors with as much dialogue as the companions gave me a lot of hopes towards the advisor's romances. Hopefully even if you don't romance them they'll have beefy friendship dialogue. (especially since they don't have to split their word count with banter in the field or reactions during most of the quests).

She can remove it from the city before activating it, once she no longer needs any sort of privacy or workroom. You said yourself that the thing wasn't tainted until it was activated; the assembly stage was never a problem.

DAI Romances related. As far as I know it hasn't been confirmed but does anyone think Cassandra and Cullen are going to be straight or bi? I've got a feeling Cullen is going to be bi and Cassandra is going to be straight just because I think the Bisexual romances will be the NPC ones. No real reason I think that though just a hunch on my own part.

Hmmmm. I think that that's probably the most likely outcome. Having the advisor LI's be bisexual means everyone gets a chance at one. (I am one of the few people who view NPC LI as something awesome and am super-excited by them.)

I'm torn on if Cassandra will be straight or not--I'd like her to be bisexual, because she's pretty cool and warrior and that could make for a fun F/F romantic plotline. But if there are only six 'base' LI, and Scribbles is the bisexual NPC LI, then Cassandra is straight.

What I mean by 'base' LI is that I'm thinking there were originally six LI--Cassandra, Scribbles, Cullen, Dorian, Sera, and another male LI--and then later the writers added a few 'extra' LI, which were race-gated. Thus, we'd have straight Cassandra and Blackwall/Solas, bisexual Scribbles and Cullen, and gay Sera and Dorian; plus the Iron Bull for a few races, and perhaps Varric and Vivienne.

Assuming the thing doesn't activate on it's own when completed or she'd even know when she reached the stage where it could. It's safer all around not to build it in a highly undefended and congested area in the first place. (Not to mention dragging the entire now completed to mirror to the wounded coast is liable to put her in more danger transporting it than building it there in the first place. As well as risker for the mirror getting there whole).

This assumes a even distribution of sexualities.  Which is reasonable to assume, but not in anyway confirmed.

Er, we knew from the beginning of Act 3 that it didn't.

@Phate Phoenix

I asked the question with the 2/2/2 system in mind since I don't want to get my hopes up too high expecting a 2/4/2 system until there's further proof of it I'll be going by a thought of 2/2/2 for now  ^_^

(though with the race gates 2/4/2 is very possible but I'm still being cautious)

Well no duh. We also know it doesn't matter friendship or rivalry the damn thing was never going to work and the only thing that changed was she lost her clan and keeper. Should I use that knowledge to say she never should've done anything regarding the mirror in the first place?

I think they could have done rivalry and rivalry romances better, but it's simply a smart thing to oppose Merrill from trying to make deals with demons to fix the mirror.

I don't know, killing Audacity probably makes it a net gain overall. And the clan is quite easy to keep safe.

Literally impossible, and the rivalry has nothing to do with that.

Merrill didn't broker a deal with Audacity, she learned blood magic to cleanse the shard of the taint and refused to release it from it's prison - and that was simply due to a lack of lyrium to cleanse it with ordinary magic. Her construction of the Eluvian was based on her own research.

He'd been locked up there for centuries. He wasn't going to be let out til that mirror nonsense. Marethari would've moved on after act 2 at the latest since her clan was in danger from the templars so there went his body surf.

I live in eternal optimism of equality.  I'm hopeful, and trustful, that Bioware has the 2/2/2 set up for equality, but I do expect that the 'extra' LI's will make things uneven, though, if only for races and not sexualities.

The way I'm thinking, it's, at it's base, a 2/2/2 system, but with a few extra bisexual, race-gated LI's added in. That could make it a 2/4/2 system, but I don't think it'll be fair for all races, as was suggested by DG's posts on the topic of race-gating.

I don't see how rivalry has nothing to do with Hawke recommending against bothering with the mirror and using blood magic. You get rivalry points for those dialog options.

I would disagree, but I'll stop this for the time being as a courtesy to those outsiders who wanted to retake the thread.

Given what Merrill went through because of her cultural views and her endeavors (especially in rivalmance), I wonder if the elven Inquisitor will have to deal with shemlen trying to impose their views on the protagonist. Including in a romance, where the romantic interest may be an Andrastian with opposing points of view.

Alright.

ANYWAY

I do want another rivalry like romance. Even if it's the default :3

A bouncing snarky comments at each other but woe betide someone else does it romance is my fav.

I loved how Carver was all mage. But the second someone else did it he was up in their face <3
