Cousin introduced me to the game mostly highlighted his guy crush on Alistair and made me take the copy home with me so I could enjoy it. I'm glad he was pushy about it otherwise I would have never experienced the fun of it all x3. Shame he isn't excited about DAI though :(

A friend introduced me because it was the first game either of us had encountered with a m/m relationship. I know from the forum that Bioware had one before (Skye?) but we didn't know that then. Actually, he got my boyfriend to buy it, because he plays more games, and I played it because I was impressed watching him. Origins was not only the first Bioware game that I play, but also the first video game that I played, generally. D:

My friend is being a grump about DA:I, but he will still play it and probably like it.  :P

Why isn't your friend interested, if you don't mind me asking?

Those'll rot your brain.

I admit I was a Drarry fan in my teenage years. Reading those fics now my god. What was I thinking.

The fiend! :o

I never really liked Dumbles. I read too many of those he's a manipulative old bastard fics.

I stopped reading the entire books after the Goblet of fire when Harry really went into puberty, so I never got to the manipulative old bastard stage of things. Otherwise...

I actually appreciate the idea of dealing with the ethics of prophesy expectations. It's a rarely touched on field, and from what I saw Dubledore was an imperfect person who tried to strike a balance, giving Harry a chance to be a child even as he set the stage for later. I can appreciate it, and appreciate why others would not.

It's far better than, say, the anime Naruto. Or, as the American fanbase probably does not think of it, that romanticized feudal military dictatorship and the glorification of child soldiers and eugenics.

Compared to that, a dysfunctional British bueracracy and a wellmeaning mastermind trying to help things move for the better is tame.

I'll keep that in mind thank you. So far my quick search has said it's either out of stores or close to 80$ which I can't afford at the moment^^;

Wat.

I found it on ebay for 11 bucks. Someone with 100% feedback too...

Edit: Yeah 10 bucks on xbox store. http://marketplace.x...15-d8024d530852

Anyone charging 80 bucks for that is insane.

Oh jeez. This thread has gone so off the rails that a lot of us aren't even talking about something even vaguely related to Bioware as a whole company anymore. lol

Leather Pants.

That's what you were thinking. Draco and Leather Pants.

For some strange reason, I was always partial to Luna Lovegood from the parts I came across later. Something about cookoo cloudlanders who are also intelligent and loyal just struck me as an intersting character.

I wished I stopped reading in OotP. Harry became someone I wanted to kick down a flight of stairs in HBP. He got a wee bit better in DH but the damage had been done.

Fair enough. I haven't seen that much of Naruto :P I'm more of a Shoujo person. XD (I will never wash the stain that is Hot Gimmick from my mind.)

lmao probably.

Luna is awesome. I really had high hopes for her and Harry at least being good friends at the end of OotP with the mistletoe scene...then Harry becomes that douche in HBP and I'm very glad she mostly stayed the hell away from him.

The first thing my cousin told me way before he mentioned anything else was about it having s/s romances since he knew I liked games with good characters and wold probably jump at a romance though I had Alistair pictured very differently based on what I was told about him. (I also thought Morrigan was a guy for the longest time until I saw the game)

Not sure I think it's because he really didn't like DA2 very much and is still a little sore about it though he doesn't complain anywhere near as much as my 'friend' who thinks DA2 sucks and no one likes it because he says so and you only like it if you have brain damage  My cousin is kind of comming around though when I mentioned the return of playable races but he's still on the fence about the whole thing, which I can't blame him since he bought both games full price and I bought them around 10 bucks each.

First google search I did it was 77$ right now the cheapest one I can find that's in good condition is 18$ (I'm iffy about getting used games online so I always try to go for new or good condition to try and be on the safe side)

According to the seller it's new and factory sealed. Do not pay more than 15 bucks for this D: there's no reason too. I mean it's on the xbox store for 10 bucks >_>

Half the reason I enjoyed as many time traveling Harry fics as I did was because he was almost inevitably more mature and less of a ******. I was able to put up with him as a rambunctious orphan and rascally child, but going through puberty...

Well, he was increasingly intolerable and Ron was not particularly enjoyable either. Hermoine was my favorite of the three: the world of fiction needs more brave and loyal bookworm-nerds.

Heh. The best Naruto fanfic idea I ever read about was one in which the Heavens themselves think it's better to nuke the region and start over because the setting is so mired in misery.

Sadly, when this does almost happen in the series, the person in question is presented as the bad guy for some reason. :P

How do you see him as being a douche there, as opposed to OotP?

Wasn't planning on buying that one, I usually don't pay more than 20$ for older games and it was an xbox game so I should find it fairly cheap especially if I'm getting a used copy which I usually get anyway, but I'll defiantly keep that in mind thank you for the warning.

I bought them both full price and I'm pleased enough. lol

I mean, DA2 is clearly a game that could have benefited from more time in development, nobody denies that. I had a good time with it, though. I've never regretted buying either game and I didn't feel like I made a mistake by not waiting. I always say Bioware makes my favorite games and I still feel that way about DA2 and ME3, honestly.

My boyfriend and I are both super excited for DA:I. I tell him about all the news as it comes out here. It's the only game either of us really follow closely. We're kind of excited about the next Fallout game coming up, but definitely Bioware games are a special case. Haha.

Oh he was a douche in OotP but it felt more justified to me? It's been a while since I read the books but that's how I remember feeling. And he had a lot more positive moments in OotP that stood out to me (especially with the forming of the DA). That and how he walked all over Ginny and ignored her feelings til he decided she was hot and even then still treated her more like a trophy and less of an individual gets me. That part where she tries to talk about him about what Voldermort did during CoS and he shuts her down made me so angry. (That might've been in DH though) Then of course was the HBP book nonsense.

Wasn't planning on buying that one, I usually don't pay more than 20$ for older games and it was an xbox game so I should find it fairly cheap especially if I'm getting a used copy which I usually get anyway, but I'll defiantly keep that in mind thank you for the warning.

Yeah np XD I just hate seeing people get ripped off.

Yeah agreed.

Ron was obnoxious from the beginning though so it was par for the course from him. And yes Hermione was awesome (though she had wtf moments like sending birds at Ron's face.)

LOL

I can't imagine why :P

I usually only buy older games after price drops just cause I can't normally afford to get more than one or two new games a year anyway^^; DAI is the first game I'll be paying full price for in a long time and its the only game I've ever preordered. I'm hoping my cousin will come around to DAI he really enjoyed DAO and if it wasn't for him I wouldn't' even be on this forum. I try to tell him news when I can but we don't speak much any more, best I can do now is lend him my copy so he can play for himself and sees if he'd like to get his own copy of it. (He's already told me he isn't really planning on getting the game either so lending him my copy might change his mind at least I hope it will :))

I somehow completely missed DA:Origins release. I remember seeing it in stores for awhile but I didn't know it was Bioware. I was so wrapped up in Mass Effect I didn't play Origins until... like right before DAII came out. I don't understand how I let Origins slip under my radar considering that KOTOR was why I bought a Xbox way back in the day, but there you go. I thought that Mass Effect was Bioware's only 360 game for a long while.

Well, I actually don't play many games. It's actually kind of hard for me, because I have arthritis issues and it can kind of mess with my hands, but I brave it for games I really like. Haha. It's why I could never be one of the ones that plays like 20 times, though. I end up only playing a couple a year. I've only played a very small selection all together. My boyfriend buys a ton of games, though. He's always been way more into it than me. lol

I hope your cousin comes around and DA:I gets him back into the series.  :)

My first exposure to DAO was the incredibly sexisty cosplay model they had on the show floor in the videos when it was announced. I was so turned off on by the appeal to the lowest common denominator of geek steretopyes inclusiveness that I waited three months before even looking at it again thanks to word of mouth.

I was similar with Mass Effect instead. I knew it was Bioware, but just didn't care for it. I didn't play until ME2 came out (and ME2 is still the only game I truly like of the bunch).

I got into DAO because of the romance possibilities I learned of after looking it up on TVTropes. And because the friend I was staying with at one point borrowed a copy for me.

One thing I miss about those older games is they were directed by the best of both the DA and ME teams. Everyone kind of hedged their bets into one project at a time then.

This is the new SH%#!! RAAAAAAHHHH.  *jams out on guitars and screaming for the rest of the trailer*

Yeah, that did absolutely nothing for me at all.  If I were to judge Origins by that alone, I'd have ran away far and fast.  The eruption on the old forums in relation to that trailer was a thing to behold.

Did Origins have a Marilyn Manson trailer? I am confused.
