Im not gonna lie what i really want is an unrequited love for Sera romance arc if your a male. Like id love it for soooo many reasons itd be a fun story.

I wouldn't want to put Sera through that (even though she isn't real). Unrequited love is torture for other people.

It would have to be done right and very carfully i dont just want a 1 off line and never ever talk about it again i always felt that was lame in games.

Umm, sorry, am I missing something? Solas has been revealed, why is he a bigger mystery than Dorian or Varric at this point?

We've spent an entire game with Varric.

I said Scibbles is a bigger mystery than Solas, not that Solas is a bigger mystery than [X, where X is not Scribbles]. Why are you trying to get me to defend a statement I haven't made?

Yeah, I don't have the slightest clue about scribbles. What does she advise on again?

I was worried about adviser romances at first because I imagined them as being like the ME 3 ones. While many have praised Cortez, I found the Traynor romance lacking. What we've heard about advisers has filled me with more confidence.

That said, I don't want Scribbles to be straight, I want Cassandra to be available to women because I'm interested in romancing her. I started her fan thread in the new forums and even had for her in DA II.

I want to also note that I tend to have more sympathy for you than some of the other people in this debate because I know you wanted to romance Sera. In my mind, there's a difference between wishing there was someone you could romance and wishing for someone else to not have a romance.

I actually enjoyed the Traynor romance maybe it wasn't as complete as some of the others but it made me feel good to have the ability to romance a lesbian character.

As much as having a lesbian character available to me means I would have preferred for Cassandra and Sera to be bi because it seemed to be the fairest solution to both males and females.

If Cassandra was an advisor instead of a companion I would still prefer to romance her than any other character.

I have nothing against straight males all I want is to have access to the wonders of Cassandra. To me Cassandra for bi women and lesbians is the equivalent to Cullen for straight females.

OK... defensive much? I wasn't trying to do anything of the sort. I thought you were comparing Scribbles specifically to Solas (and not other people) because there was something genuinely mysterious about him. It was not meant as an attack on you, it was an honest query. Why you would take it as an attack on you, I do not know.

Now I'm curious about this joke. :D Can't find it.

This:

You will never convince me that straight men are being oppressed, excluded, or are being discriminated against when it comes to video games anything ever.

The "joke" that Templar somehow saw would be that Shark replaced "video games" with "anything ever", which, as far as jokes go, is like stating that fire burns.

It would have to be done right and very carfully i dont just want a 1 off line and never ever talk about it again i always felt that was lame in games.

That's how it works IRL with reasonable people, only insentive jerks try to push.

I didn't view your question as an attack.

No, I don't believe that Solas is inherently more mysterious, but he was an unknown for a long time.

Fair enough. I see the humor in it.. not sure I agree with it though. Mostly because I don't identify as just a straight man. I've been discriminated against for other things, but not for anything male related. That much is true.

Cool. I might end up liking her quests more than the others. It sounds different (while military and spying sounds fairly straightforward).

That's if you try to push tho you can have an unrequited love and and not be a pushy jerk about it. Like i said tho it'd have to be done very carefully.

And hell lets just be honest its not gonna happen. As i said it would been interesting i felt but thats just me im just one person everyone else here hates the idea ha ha.

As i said he should be bi. Making her straight would just disadvantage all straight players over same sex players.

It's already been stated that Advisors get the same amount of content as the companions

But it's not; it's using a straight character as an NPC romance due to fan demand and not having a place to put him in the party.

It isn't fan demand

Really do we need to go over the same old arguments again so soon. They aren't likely to be equal as experiences imo.

I wonder if male elves could ever romance a female elf without any of these controversial angles brought up (breeding and such). That it could simply be an option. Just like humans have options.

Yeah, that would be greatly appreciated. It's unfortunate how these discussions tend to take a turn for the worst. Although I'm happy for the players who are able to romance Sera, I do find it unfortunate that there doesn't seem to be an elven love interest for an elven protagonist who is interested in women. I think it would've been a nice option to have, whether the romantic interest was a companion or an NPC. Whether it was another Dalish from a different clan, someone from one of the Alienages, or perhaps a former member of the Circle. Even if there are cultural differences between the two (i.e. Dalish protagonist with city elf), I think there's also a lot of common ground as well, given the two being members of a marginalized people who live in a human dominated continent.

I'm also wondering if Inquisition is going to take the step in providing a dwarven love interest, too. Varric is still in the air (especially given his previous focus on Bianca), and I know a few are holding out hope (as unlikely as it might be) for Dagna.

Pah, fairness. I finally get an LI I don't have to babysit. Maybe more than one depending on how Scribbles shakes out.

In regards to Cullen...

IIRC, he was created as a one-off character. Sheryl never expected people to grow attached to him. There were originally no plans to bring him into DA 2, which is why he goes insane and becomes a mass murderer in one of the epilogues.

The fan reaction to him was so positive that they put him into DA 2.

When they started DA I, Cullen was a good fit for one of the advisers. He was a Templar, in Kirkwall, could survive until the end, and because we didn't know much about him, there was lots of room for growth. After all, Cassandra brings together the advisers and the last time we see her, she's in Kirkwall.

I am sure that his popularity made him a natural selection for an LI. If people hadn't liked him, I doubt he'd have made his way into DA 2.

This is not saying that I consider him fan service, at least not any more than Varric, Leliana, or Cassandra.

That seems like the sort of thing best left to headcanon.

How would it work in game? Obviously your character wouldn't/shouldn't pursue the issue with Sera herself after she's shut you down. What else is there - telling the other companions how much you like her? That seems pretty creepy. I'd say Aveline's no-mance is as close as the game needs to come - you express an interest, it becomes clear she's not going to return the feelings. Any more your character feels is left to your own imagination.
