Regardless there will be less choice with all Bi. they said speciffically there are more romance options because of set sexualities. 6 LIs compared to 4 is MORE choice not less, so all Bi companions equals less choice as it isnt even an option on any playthrough.

Assuming that the 6 LIs are spread evenly between the standard orientations/genders (homosexual, heterosexual, bisexual, man, woman), it's only more choice if you play more than one gender/orientation combination. If you prefer to play gay males,  for example, you get as many choices as you did with 4 LIs - 2.

I didn't get the impression at all that Leliana was geared towards male players, I don't understand the reasoning at all behind thinking so.

I am sure there were some lesbian and bisexual women who did not like Leliana much, but it's not like you can please everyone with just one love interest.

I think thats about right, if you don't like a character your obviously going to think they weren't made for you(... because they aren't made for you if you kinda dislike them more than enjoy them), just cause they happen to be an option doesn't mean much in that whole sense.

I remembered Zev's dialogue about preferring women (which was kinda weird and unnecessary to add imo), but my take of Leliana was that she never really favored one over the other.

I think that there is basically no way we would get 6-8 LIs with zero gating and 4 races available. I think there has to be some compromise all around between gender gating, race gating, or less races available. Consider that even 4 ungated LIs in DA:I is four times as much work as the human protagonist in DA2. 

 

Personally, I don't mind the sort of story they did in DA2 with a human character, but a lot of people are very opposed. It's one of those situations that has to give somewhere, I think, and it's going to be a choice that a lot of people would have liked to take the other path on. I understand that resources aren't unlimited. Really, my hope is just that they'll give all genders/sexualities equal options. I would love to see one game where I had the same amount of options as everyone else, whether they use gating, or the all bi system with a small amount of LIs, that doesn't matter. Just one game with equal options.

In DA II, I got two romances. In DA:I, I will probably get two romances.

I actually think that all of the bisexual guys except for the DA2 guys showed a preference for women.  Sky was married to a women (and had a child with her) before and you really have to go out of your way to initiate the dialogue.  Zevran has numerous dialogue options about his relationships with women and very few about men.  Kaidan had that story about Rahna (which I'm not really convinced was romantic), but also has a few banter lines about asari women.

 

Anders is a bit of a toss up because he seemed to show a preference for women in DA: A, but then, I would argue, seemed like he had a preference for males in DA 2.  And Fenris doesn't really show much of a preference either way, but he does hook up with Isabela, so there's that. 

 

I always go the impression from Leliana that she preferred females as well, but I only romanced her once and it was with a dwarf gal, so there's that....

Leliana's preferences really seem to be a matter of perspective. I've only ever played female characters in DA:o and I always keep going back to her, even when I tell myself I'm going to give Zevran or Alistair a chance. Which is ironic, because every time she starts talking about those cheesy, poetic bardic tales of hers I almost doze off. And her overly romantic flirting almost makes me want to gag.

Agreed, not everyone will benefit from doing it this way.  But some will indeed get more choices, supposing they replay the game several times.

This would explain things if all the beards in DAI aren't really good, they can't give us a beard as wondrous as Blackwall's other wise we'll have to duel him and the loser shaves his beard and leaves the Inquisition forever.
