That's why you start swinging the stick towards the crowd the second you hear the kids scrambling. Sure you might have gotten grounded for it but you got the candy and that's all that mattered 
The thing that most annoys me right now is that I expect Humans will gets the most options. I don't want to but I just know Humans are going to be favored. Gah~
This is also my worry, I get most people will play as them but still rubs me the wrong way worrying that they'll get the most while the other races will be left with table scraps. I really hope I'm worrying about nothing though.
most of the race gating seems to have happened because they delayed the game so i suspect it will be that the race gating will most likely dissidence the human race altogether for example Varric will only Romance a female dwarf ( or maybe even a male) IB possible a Qunarrie and maybe some more.

I don't think you will have too much to worry about if you play an Elf. It's the Kossith and Dwarf inquisitor who might run into trouble with the race gates.

And that is a worry I have I don't think any race should be getting hardly any options, they should be even with the gating or no gating at all. The dwarves shouldn't get the short end of the stick and neither should the qunari, elves or humans. I know they have reasons for putting it in there and they are not trying to spite anyone but to me it'll still feel a little bit like the game telling me 'Sorry you picked the wrong race. Try again?'
I have to say about the race gating, that even if I totally understand the concerns with the idea, I don't share them, first because it's not like we're going to lack lots of options to establish inter-species relationships, and second because I can imagine different reasons for someone in the DA universe to reject having a relationship with certain races without that making them racist, though definitely showing that love is not the only factor they have in mind when considering the subject.
that said, even if it came down to just a problem of aesthetics and personal preferences, it might not add nothing important to the character or the story, but would it be that bad? Is it even necessary that s/he explains to you why s/he doesn't like you? I'd be fine with "thank you but I'm not interested" (why should anyone tell you anything else, btw?) except for the right race choice and if that limitation allows to add 1 or 2 more LIs, I think it's worthy.
As long as we get enough choices, and if we're going to have gender gating anyway, I think having other kinds of restrictions can make even more sense than just that one
I also like the idea that the amount of LIs can be increased when there are more restrictions. I think there are still at least one option for every race/gender combo. Of course the ideal situation would be that at least everyone would get at least 2 options and there would be some extra options for certain race/gender combos but I can live with just one option with certain rage/gender combo. I also think that the quality of the romances can be maintained when the amount of the LIs are increased by adding more restrictions.
I would love to have a huge group of LIs.
The only person I would consider rerolling my race for is Dagna. 
In my ideal world, Cullen and Scribbles are both romancable and non-gated so that everyone has someone awesome to fall back on if their companions don't work out. Massively biased of course seeing as I think the advisors are the sexiest of them all.

Though to be fair, as much as I like Cullen it would really stink if he were the only option for Dwarves.
Count me in as one of the people concerned about race-gating decreasing the options for dwarves and qunari. Those are the only races that I'm interested in playing. I have no desire to play an elf or human (in about 10 playthroughs of DA: O, I've still never gotten an elf past Ostagar). I also agree that if one of the races is going to have less restrictions, it's going to be humans, which would be disappointing. I understand that there might be animation issues with dwarves and qunari, but I'm really hoping that this doesn't mean that I don't get at least two options for each playthrough. I hate to feel railroaded into one romance because I picked the "wrong" race/sexuality/gender combination, while others get numerous choices. I don't mind getting fewer choices, though, provided that I still get a choice. If straight human males and females get three options each, but my gay dwarves and qunari only get two, I'd be cool with that. I just want to be able to actively make a choice about which LI I want for that character, even if my options are reduced.
I'm disappointed that none of the lady companions interests me as a romance option.
The only pretty character, Leliana, can't be romanced.

I for one love her tomboyish looks. As for being bossy, it's part of the appeal. An epic clash of wills that starts in the sparring ring and ends up in the bedroom with sheets tangled and torn and... ummm. I'll be in my bunk.

I was gutted that Sera isn't available to my inquisitor, she certainly doesn't strike me as anymore of a tomboy than Leilana.

What you could do is just go into the game completely unaware and get swept away by someone in game.
