Yep, I'm sticking with my prediction of 8. Original 2/2/2 (no race gating). Iron Bull as a bisexual option for humans and qunari. And maybe Varric as a female dwarf only option?
I like this guess. This is my guess now too. xP

So glad they answered my race-gating question! I've thought for a long while now that the issue was being way overblown. His answer is vague, but I'm thinking two, max, are race-gated.
Hmm, "a few" suggests more than two but that could just be picking apart wording. That would mean there would have to be more than 6 LIs, though, or the majority wouldn't be not race-gated.

It's an interesting way to phrase it. "A few" isn't a majority? "A few" of 6 is half, so I wonder if that could imply that there are more than 6.
Technically half isn't a majority, either.

That's my prediction, too. If that's true, it's veeeeery unlikely Blackwall is an LI.

My problem with everyone *probably* being right about Vivienne not being a potential love interest is that she's already being perceived as a Sapphire, and thus she's automatically saddled with the "Strong Black Woman Who Don't Need No Man" label, which is way more problematic to me.
I would have preferred to have more female companions, and yeah, I see what people are saying about being able to romance all the females who are close to the Inquisitor, while not all men will be available, but the way she's been dismissed by many from the beginning has been depressing. Vivienne is beautiful and interesting, and I don't see why she has to be saddled with the "off limits" label just to make a point.
Never heard of that stereotype, very interesting. I think Viv actually has a chance going by the limited females available. Keep the candle of infinite hope burnin'!
(edit) @Rynj - I'm guessing two just because I'm not optimistic enough to think we'll get 8 LIs just yet. Maybe.

Yeah it doesn't bother me? I guess so I'm not seeing much of an issue. It's a nasty sterotype yes but I'm not getting the impression that's what BW is doing.
Though yeah I'd have less issues with it if say Blackwall was female instead. Cause then fine whatever. But yeah I admit to being happy all the female companions aren't LIs. And maybe she's off limits because she finds someone else? Just because she's not a LI for the protagonist doesn't mean she has to be forever alone.

I'm so pesimistic right now, I'm only expecting IB and Blackwall, but dying before the game ends and with lots of drama because we both now it's going to be like that ![]()

I would glady trade in either IB or Varric for Solas fans, as long as I can have one confirmed I'll be happy. :3 But I also want everyone else to be, too. Which is impossible. *hugs everyone*

I'll admit the race-gating is making me really antsy, not knowing who will and who won't and for what reason.
I think the devs have said the race gating is mostly for the size difference, but what does that mean? Is it only extreme cases like dwarf-Qunari (as in the Dwarfquisitor can't get with Iron Bull and the QunarIquisitor can't get with a dwarf if one's available)? Is it gating those to only be with someone their size or one notch above or below? Like: the dwarf protagonist can be with a fellow dwarf or elf, the elf can be with a dwarf, fellow elf or human, human can be with an elf, fellow human or Iron Bull, and the grey giant can be with a human or Iron Bull?
I wanna know!

From the sound of Alan's post, it is something they presumably expanded on after the races were announced. We knew about the characters for a while - they do match that old survey - so it is possible the romance options were dreamed up early for when it was human only, and then there was a question of how to expand the romance.

haha well I do appreciate the thought ![]()
But, well, anyway, I'll trust Nocte's good luck and if not, well, maybe Cullen would surprise me... maybe even IB would... And if not, well, I'll always have Sera... Though to be honest, I don't enjoy as much lesbians romances... But I can enjoy them a lot (at least with Isabella I did), and that would have to be enough if my worst fears for male LIs availabe to women come true ![]()

I'm not saying that Bioware is creating a character that is a flat stereotype, but that she's being perceived that way...see things like the thread where she was called "uppity" or the negative reactions to the letter that was a part of her introduction. And just because you haven't seen it much doesn't mean it's not extremely prevalent, even in black-oriented movies.
Again, I have a feeling that everyone saying that she'll probably be off-limits is right, but giving the reason for that as "we don't want ALL the women to be available as LIs" is suspect when the only one who may not be in any kind of romance is seen as a Sapphire. If she's in a NPC romance, or has other things going on, awesome. I'll still carry a faint hope that she's an LI until they confirm either way.

I dont' think that was a yes or no I think that was a 'you'll have your answer soon' just worded like that to try to tease and confuse us.
*crossing fingers for a Blackwall or Iron Bull romance*

Hey, doesn't Cullen being straight and Scribbles bisexual officially debunk the Survy LI Theory?

They are saying "soon" about all potential non-confirmed LI's, so I wouldn't read into it.

What about Cullen? He's not dying I'd say he has a good ten years or so before the lyruim ruins his mind forever but he'll still be alive.
