With only 3 out of 9 companions being female, I see how there will probably be less f/f companion choices... I pretty much agree with Natashina's guess, but yeah, there is the one romance that isn't advisor/companion that will probably replace Solas.

I'm intrigued by this mystery person... I'm hoping it might be some kind of antagonist? I'm just into the idea of there being a romantic element complicating the Inquisitor's relationship with a character who is opposed to their goals. It's a trope I really enjoy.
That would be amazing. There was a romance like this in The Old Republic and it is hands down my favorite romance that Bioware has ever done, even though it was creepy as hell.
I wish I could trade you for Cullen. I wanted him to be bi.
Indeed, everyone should get a slice of the Cullen cake.

They said there was "at least one that they know of" in response to whether there'd be romances with NPCs other than advisors/companions. That doesn't mean it's one of the males. I'm not sure it's even one of the official 8 count.
I'll stick with my list then. Going by your theory, I'd guess Dagna is a straight dwarf-gated romance. It's just me pulling it out of nowhere, but she's the only other NPC that's been named that isn't a direct adviser. Plus, perhaps BW finally added a female dwarf to romance to go along with Varric.
I'm not going to pretend for a second that any of my guesses are true for the unknown LIs. It's just a theory. A Game Theory!

Well, your post was about archery and that misread is more about... Varric's taste in SM.
Lol, just joking ... I understood your previous post.

I was kind of expecting him to be, and then he wasn't... I'm really sorry you don't get to pursue him. ![]()
For the sake of fairness, I figured the advisors should have been bisexual, with one gay and one straight of each gender among the companions--that way everyone would have a chance at either an advisor or a companion. Then they added race gating into the mix and things got complicated. Now I don't know anymore...
And yet I can't help but think how unfair it is that what seems to be one of the more important LIs for women, is not going to have the same amount of dialogue, and can't be brought along on quests. This is not how you do better by your female fanbase, Bioware... I just hope the bi males are decent. Iron Bull appeals to plenty of people, but I am not one of them... so I have hopes he's one of the race-gated options, and Solas rounds out the male LIs. If not... well, I have a few celibate Inquisitors and maybe one gay guy because Dorian is just that awesome.

Wrong. You CAN choose his weapon, love. You can't change from Bianca to another bow, but you can give him daggers
Ah okay, I misread. Thanks. ![]()

Ah okay, I misread. Thanks.
No problem. And while his reasons for not wanting to switch from Bianca to a bow might also be sentimental, I can't imagine him using a bow.

What was confirmed was that there would be 8 LIs with 2 being race gated and in another reply they said there'd be a romance with "at least one" NPC that was neither an advisor or companion. The way they said it, though, was, "There is at least one that I know of." To me, that sounds more like they're talking about DA:O type situations. I would think they would know exactly how many of their main 8 LIs weren't companions or advisors. So, for right now I'm going to assume these are extra flings until they state otherwise.

This is my list:
Straight
Cassandra
Cullen
Bi
Josephine
Iron Bull(Solas)
Gay
Sera
Dorian
Race gated(Bi)
Vivienne
Solas(Iron Bull)
We get the 2/4/2 scenario. I could see swapping out Solas and Iron Bull around. Basically Iron Bull would be race gated and Solas would be the Bi male. Everything else I will standby. The mysterious romance I think will likely be Celine. That is just my guess.

Dagna I'll agree with, but not Varric. If BW added Varric in as a romance, I highly doubt they'd just make it a fling. I feel pretty comfy with my list. Either BW will prove some of it wrong or all of it wrong. ![]()

Well, I wanted Vivienne to be romancable, it's unlikely. We are both sad tonight. I share your feelings.
And Josephine is pretty, but personality wise as an Li, I don't feel it's extraordinary !
While I think that Josephine is much prettier, I'm leaning toward Cassandra because of her personality.

I'm still holding out the hope that Vivienne is one of the race-gated romances if only because she is one of the people who it really makes sense for story wise.

Right now I'm thinking Vivienne, Solas and Iron Bull will fill out the lineup and the non-companions/advisors will be side things, like some in DA:O.

thanks for watching - I mean, ahem, back on topic. I feel bad for the devs because people were begging to release info and were getting upset and now that they released some info people seem to be even more upset xD

I looked on the DA wiki and these are the "secondary" characters, so it's likely the non-companion, non-advisor LI is one of them - otherwise the character would be too obscure.
Alexius, Alistair, Anora, Dagna, Flemeth, Thamond
Can rule out Alistair, Anora and Flemeth for obvious reasons, which leaves Alexius, Dagna and Thamond. I'm ruling out Alexius because he looks ultra creepy and Thamond because very little is known of him. It's more likely BioWare will go for a character who is already well known and well liked, namely Dagna.
Which could then turn into
4 female romance options: Cassandra, Sera, Josephine, Dagna
4 male romance options: Dorian, Cullen, Varric/Iron Bull/Solas

Maybe the banter is not such a big deal after all ... I really like Josephine and Cass too, but I do enjoy quest banter so I'm likely going to romance Cass.
