Speaking about the average age of the cast of characters here...

 

I mean, you have those in their 40s and over (Blackwall, Solas, Iron Bull, probably Varric?), 30s (hazard a guess at Cassandra, Dorian, Cullen, Leliana, Vivienne, Josephine), and those in their 20s (Sera?), and an adolescent-looking-thing who's probably made to look like he's in his very late teens (Cole)... Now these are just very reckless stabs in the dark here, but stay with me...

 

Personally, I'm glad to be seeing more characters who are 30+ than the usual fare of 20-something protagonists in a lot of other games, fiction, or film/tv. I mean, the whole "young, learning about the world, and discovering yourself and where you stand" plot is nice and all if it's done interestingly and delivered well enough, but it's...not something that speaks to the older generation more than the younger. And a lot of gamers are getting old, to put it bluntly, so it's nice to see something that can really speak to them as well as younger gamers. But of course, I'm speaking as a writer...

Anyway, back to romance... five bucks says Iron Bull's the bisexual romance option, with Blackwall being the heterosexual one...

 

...Although a part of me is hoping that they're both bisexual and I would gladly pay up the five bucks if I'm proven wrong.

I doubt they'll give us a second straight male romance (already confirmed Cullen). I think (hope) that there will only be one straight and one gay option for each gender. I'd guess that any other LIs will be bisexual, since they want to give people of all orientations options.

Agreed.  I do enjoy JRPGs, but it is very nice having a cast of adults trying to save the world.  Sometimes, playing as one of a group of teenagers trying to stop a Big Bad is a little tiresome.  The change is certainly welcomed by me.

I am still sticking to 2 LIs for gay PCs. It will be a nice change if there are three, but it's best not to get my hopes up.

For me, he looks better than IB or Blackwall, also his is more popular than two others.

Hoping that too. I just had in mind that since Cullen's an advisor and not a companion, he doesn't exactly count since the Inquisitor won't interact with him and the other advisors as much as the companions. I know it's been said that the relationships with the advisors will mean just as much as the companions, but I'm not convinced just yet. Hell, I pegged Cullen as bisexual, but there goes the theory of advisors being bisexual...

 

But seeing as I'm happy with Dorian, I'm fine, personally. But if Iron Bull is also receptive to my male inquisitor's affections, well...

I liked it when I was younger because it was something I understood, but as my world view grew, so did my fondness for other narratives...

Then don't romance him if he is a LI.  Simple enough, just don't click on the shiny [FLIRT] or  button and you should be a-okay.

I'm quite confindent that the other 3 options are going to be bi. Not that it means anything because I'm wrong with predictions most of the time, though    

 

And about who are the others LI... I have finally come to "whatever" state, which it's worse than being excited, but better than being bitter, I guess...    Maybe I'll like better Cullen this time around, maybe Blackwall it's more interesting than it sounds and maybe he's not dying any time soon, maybe I could finally get over IB looks, maybe I'll enjoy playing a male Inquisitor... I'll find out when I play the game

My expectations with the games industry in general are pretty low to begin with (to put it very mildly), so while everything seems like it could go well, it also sounds too good to be true. I tend to retain a sense of skepticism so that after the potential disappointment with getting more prominent representation of characters who identify as non-heterosexual hits me, it won't hit me so bad. (Now, this is just in general as well, not just Bioware)

 

But things have been really good so far. I'm just afraid I jinxed that and then things could possibly go... horribly... wrong...

I'll be disappointed if there are more hetero LIs and choices, certainly.  It brings up all those cans of worms and feelings.
