I think I started something. If BioWare has more options for straight Inquisitors than gay ones, I will make my displeasure known.

Until I know one way or another, I'm not going to bother worrying about it.

What are you even talking about?

the hypothetical  case if Varrick and Dagna end up as male female race gated romance and how it's unequal, and whether bioware should write Characters as they see or whether they should be more concerned with perfect distribution for all sexual oriantations and how big a deal one or two group's getting possible one extra choice because they mad a decided to write  character's the way they wanted to.

I'll be honest, if there are more straight romances than gay romances, I personally am not going to be that upset.  However, I understand why people would be upset and I strongly disagree with those who say it's not a big deal.  It's never going to be a big deal for most people as long as the status quo exists.  I would strongly prefer there to be equal options for gender/sexuality combinations.  It would stop me from buying the game if there were more straight options, but I also can't see how having equal options is a bad thing or not something that we should be hoping for.

There's no reason that Bioware (or any other developer) should have to choose between writing gay characters and writing the characters as they see fit.  They could, you know, just want to write gay characters.  Fortunately, Bioware does.  However, almost no other developers do.  That's why it's important.

Most people don't even realize when they throw out these "random" numbers that they subconsciously give straight people more options.  It's happened numerous times in these threads.  I just pointed it out to a different person yesterday too.

I think everyone bi is a little but ridiculous.

Why?

In a game with dragons and magic, why is it that sexual orientation is singled out? No one complains that dragons and magic are a bit ridiculous and unrealistic. It's always that 4 bisexual people in the same room is too many bisexual people.

but it doesn't mean straight people should be taken out all of the sudden.

It isn't as if people aren't already inundated with shows, movies, books, other games and real life filled with straight people. They don't really need special representation in a fantasy game.

Wait, what?  Who said anything about "taking out" straight people?  We're talking about creating more LGBT people, not taking out straight people.

My arrangement? It was random numbers, I'm just saying it shouldn't be all bi, there should be gay and straight people, but there shouldn't have to be a perfect ratio, it makes it seem so calculated and forced that it kills any sort of equality in my opinion.

Theirs was 5 for straight guys and 2 for straight women. They at least gave us 3. lol

That's such a good point.

In real life, you can take a group of people and have more gays and bisexuals than straights among them.

In contrast, there are no such things as magic or dragons.

And yet, the latter is somehow infinitely more believable in fiction.

It would be ideal situation to have equal numbers of LIs but if it's prevents from having one extra LI then I wouldn't like it.

I've been saying this for years.

I can call up a group of nine friends for a get together and easily end up with more gay or bisexual people involved than straight ones.

I think at this point I'd prefer it be like Harvest Moon where you have to be straight but you can make your characters look like the other gender..

What if the leftover resources from the extra went into improving existing LI arcs or opening up race gates added for lack of resources?

I know but i'd still like it better than having the same feelings that every bioware game I've played expect for kotor2 again.

It's not about being too many. It's that it could come out as forced or hallow. I don't think that it means anything anymore if everyone loved everyone ( which is why I think race gated romances could be interesting.)

Another post I saw said there could be gay and bi people and that would be fine. I think that is just as silly as the other way around.

There are two options here, one they are bisexual and everyone is happy or they are not and it is gonna to suck. The last two romances could very well being some kinda of secret companion or maybe NPC encounters.

My bet is that It is Varric and some other surprise companion and they will be both straight. I would be probably be ****** but not to the point of not buying the game.

Also people saying that they should do watever they feel like, well sure then why not having two more female companions(since they are lacking) and they can only romance the FemInquisitor? I bet everyone is gonna to accept that with open arms......sureeeeeeeeeeeee.

I'm fine with 2/2/2. But after that much if one group gets more options *shrug* as long as it's not an obnoxious amount like twice as much whatever.

If you make Cassandra a man, he'll still prefer men. If you make Sera a man, he'll still prefer women.

I don't see how this would help at all.

I... Do not see the merit in this at all, I'm afraid. Pretending to be the opposite sex is not an adequate compromise, nor does it offer any real equality for gay people whatsoever. I'd be happy for people to have the option to cross-dress if they wanted, though.
