Speaking of fairness, has anyone considered that we may have three female LIs and five male ones since genders are so lopsided?

I don't think their required existence necessarily matters. You could miss Isabela and most people still consider her more important than Merrill when it comes to the overall plot. I would rather wait and see than assume.
True, we can't assume that every other LI will not receive an Isabela-esque role that allows them to be a part of the plot whether we recruit them or not. I'm just pointing out that of the three characters we know are going to have a (significant) role no matter what, it's interesting that two are the straight LIs, and the third is an LI for straight men. We'll see what remains.

I just have a really hard time imagining a situation where there's no way existing relationships could be improved. I have a hard time imagining a situation where there's no way they could be improved or expanded. To me, the likeliness of this just seems so low it's almost not worth considering. That's just me, though.
I was thinking the situation where the romances are very good as they are so there isn't much to improve. I think there are limits how much you can expand the romance.

I've seen some guesses to that effect, but right now I'm leaning towards Vivienne making it in, despite some sinking hopes I've seen.

I'm not saying my numbers mean anything, but I sensed a pattern.
I've done the math: There is only 4 possible ladies to romance (Cass, Sera, Josie and Vivienne,) 5 if you we're counting the non companion/non adviser romance. (I suspect Dagna.) One of which is confirmed a lesbian, and the other is straight so at least 3-4 for men. (again, counting Dagna in this). There is five men (Dorian, Varric, Iron Bull, Solas, Cullen) among the male cast that could be available as LIs (not assuming they all are, but it's a possibility.) One of which is a confirmed gay man and the other is straight. So, ladies could end up with at least 4 as well.Gay men could end up with 3 options (IB, Solas and Dorian,) and lesbians could have 3-4 (Sera, Josie, Vivi, and going with the Dagna is bi theory.)I seriously doubt they'll make another gay or lesbian exclusive LI again for this particular game.I'm not saying this has any basis in reality, but it is something I've noticed over the last few weeks.

Personally, I think it's telling that it seems like it's mostly straight people who complain about all bisexual love interests.
And when there is a game with only straight people or only straight love interests, no one complains that it's "forced."
Because one doesn't need a reason to be straight, it's taken as default and as a given. and they don't require explanations for being straight. But apparently there needs to be a reason for someone to be non-hetero for them to be included at all. And it better be a good reason that makes their sexuality incredibly relevant to everything about them, or else it's unrealistic and and completely forced.
Guess me and my three bi best friends are just too unrealistic. Dragons and fireballs, though, that's just science.

Solas seems to be the bipolar character that people either really want as a LI or really hate as a LI. It really is not easy being bald.
I feel like Iron Bull is the same. I think it's because they're both very distinctive looking, which people either really like or really don't.

I think the non-companion romance is another DAO Isabela or Tallis. So I think all 8 came from the pool of 12.
But I have a really hard time imagining every woman as an LI or ex-LI.

Surely having access to the same number of LI's for each sexuality is a step up from having to play as a man who happens to look like a woman, and vice-versa. I appreciate that it's not the same as giving everyone the same access to every option, but nobody is really getting shortchanged in this method. If BW have decided to include an uneven number of options that will be truly disappointing and there will be a lot of people making it known, but it doesnt seem that way so far
I just really don't think it's a coincidence that I always end up unhappy/annoyed with romance options i get, I doubt they ever think they're doing anything bad or the same things on purpose but at best i can say it's better than nothing.
and i'm just a fan of there being a very low to no differences between genders..I was more okay with it when they were doing for race romances too but apparently those are only two characters and for story purposes
and they SAY that the only reasons they're doing sexuality things is because they want to and representation and somehow that goes into romances and companions who you can end up with only One by the end of the game
It's kinda hard to complain about things when noone sees a problem with it.

If you're a bisexual gal, you must be the horniest person on the planet, right? Or you're rebelling against your parents and will come around soon enough. Or you're really just straight and just want attention from men by pretending to be into women.
I've heard folks say more than once, "Just pick one! C'mon, being bi is a choice. No one could possibly love and be attracted to both genders."
I'd love to tell them, "If sexuality is a choice, then why don't you try being gay for me? For one week, completely change your sexuality, and live the opposite sexuality than you actually are. You know, to show us in the LGBT community how easy it is, since you think that someone's sexuality is a choice to you and not how you were born."

The PS1 Harvest Moon was by far my favourite.
Never played it before myself since I dont' have a PS1. I brought up HM DS Cute though since in the original version you could marry one of the four Special bachelorettes and have a kid with them via gift from the Harvest King. Shame it was taken out in the American version though ![]()

It's not really that uncommon for every or almost every female companion in a game to be a love interest in some form or another.

I'm kind of in the meh group. I don't really want him to take a spot, but the likely hood is good that he is an Li. He reminds me of an old monk lol. Not super interested in him. My hope is that mystery Li is someone we haven't met yet.

Which was bogus but it was still in the original game. I have the American version of it so I know its not in that version but again still in the original version of the game.

I have wondered about this. I still suspect that there were 6 "original" Li's (2/2/2) and they added in two "race-gated" extra LI's with the extra time. I've wondered if those two might be complimentary (as in one is open to humans and qunari; the other is open to elves and dwarves, for example). If this is the case, they they could "combine" to make one full extra romance.
But I think that this is probably wrong.

For that matter I would say all the male companions are the same. A lot of people want to romance Blackwall, but the beard and older grey warden thing are a turn off to a lot of people (myself included)
Looks like no matter what, a fair amount of people will be disappointed.

This weekend, you missed a few threads from self-identified straight men (and women) that were...no joke...complaining that they wouldn't have at least two LI to themselves. Not that they were afraid of less options (though that was part of it,) but they were actively protesting the notion that they possibly wouldn't get more than one LI all to themselves. I've seen that damn near exact phrasing too. ![]()
Wrap your head around that one.

Not from the looks of it, but I'm keeping my eyes peeled. ![]()
Plus, GaymerX starts on Friday. I think we'll get our next rounds of information during/after that.

Lol whaaaaaaaat. So they should be actively campaigning to have more bisexual LIs so they can romance them no matter what instead of selfishly pulling them away from others.
Or maybe they don't know what bisexuality means? @-@

Yeah, it's with a good few of them, I've noticed. They are really varied, and therefore pander to different tastes. For example, I'm an Iron Bull fan, but I understand for some people the big beefy dudes are a turn-off. I'm kind of indifferent on Solas as far as an LI goes, but I'm very interested in his character. I'm not attracted to Blackwall at all, but he seems like a decent dude I'll get along with.
