I haven't heard that one yet, but to be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if someone tells me that.

This weekend, you missed a few threads from self-identified straight men (and women) that were...no joke...complaining that they wouldn't have at least two LI to themselves.  Not that they were afraid of less options (though that was part of it,) but they were actively protesting the notion that they possibly wouldn't get more than one LI all to themselves.  I've seen that damn near exact phrasing too.

Tell me about it.  Myself and some of the other posters had no trouble calling them out on it. 

 

I'm hoping for at three bisexual options (leaving out the Dagna Theory ™ which would leave Solas/Blackwall, Iron Bull and Vivi,) and Varric for the straight gated romance.  Although if Varric was bi, I'd be happy to share with the male Varricmancers.

It kind of disturbs me that people find it some kind of accomplishment having an LI "to themselves". Like, what? That's not what it's supposed to be about, but if you wanna be childish like that... eh. I digress.

I can understand the feeling, but I'm honestly thrilled that the gay and lesbian DA fans finally have a companion all to themselves.  The problem with all bisexual characters is that it can leave the impression that bisexuality is a game mechanic for the player, not a legitimate sexuality.

 

After a lot of thinking (I'm talking well over a month here,) I think it's important that straight men, straight women, and those of us in the LGBT community from all walks of life to see something ourselves reflected in the games we play.  This includes companions and romances, I think.

 

Me, I'm rolling up a guy for Dorian as my second Quizzy.  I'm going to take a human male warrior, make him as close to Auron from FFX as I can, and I'm going to ride that mustache.

For those that never played FFX and have no clue what I'm talking about, this is Auron.  A character that, despite FFX being a decent game, was way too cool for that installment of the franchise:

For me this is a "rejoice" scenario because it puts Viv back in the running. I do so want her to be a tag team of sass and style with one of my Inquisitors

If Vivienne is an LI, I'd bet almost anything she's gated against elves. Elves, and possibly qunari. Maybe dwarves, too. But definitely elves.
