I dont see the appeal for Dorian personally. Now ladies and gentalmen whom are interested in Dorian dont mistake me im not hating on him. I just dont see it i mean if hes Garrus level Bro he and i are gonna be buddies. Looking at it from a non romance view.

However, I'd be completely fine with Dorian being bisexual, because that would mean everybody could get their hands on that mustache! However, him being the exclusive s/s romance just seems likely. Not because he's flamboyant, but because the other options seem unlikely to happen. Of course, I'd happily be surprised for him NOT to be the exclusively gay romance option. (If he isn't, I think Dorian will either be bisexual or completely unromancable, because with some of the other known love interests, like Cullen, it seems far more likely for them to be the straight option than Dorian. In my opinion, anyhow.)

I find it rather amusing how people are so quick to hand stereotypes on the characters.   Cassandra is a strong woman and has short hair - so it follows she's a lesbian.  Dorian looks a bit flamboyant and "pretty" so obviously he's gay.    I thought that was the whole point of having full representation on sexuality, so we could get to know characters as individuals rather pegging them with perceived stereotypes from our own world.    That's probably why some people have been so surprised and disappointed about Sera - I must admit when I read her personality profile I thought she might be a less violent and abusive version of Jack.    Her looks even reminded me of her a bit, the big pouty lips and eye shadow.     So long as characters don't automatically perceive our willingness to get to know them as hitting on them and in fact we are allowed to do that before we start hitting on them, I shall be happy.  Just so long as I don't miss a romance because I didn't click on one heart icon at the appropriate time or give a companion the wrong idea because I make one flirty remark.

 

Currently my choices based on looks and what little I know of their character is:

Male Inquisitor:   Cassandra (apparently she is a big old romantic  behind all that tough façade)

                           Dorian (if the forums are right and he is a stereotypically gay only, or bisexual)

                           There isn't a third at present because I don't like Vivienne's character (she looks great) and I think my guy would break under Iron Bull.

Female:              Solas (because I know so little about him but I think he may be rewarding)

                           Dorian (because I hope the forums are wrong and he is straight, or bisexual)

                           Cullen (because she is going to be a mage and I want to correct his notions about us in an intimate way)

That's perfectly understandable.

 

But again, feelings of uneasiness or discomfort with what is portrayed doesn't mean Bioware is sending the wrong message. Hell, the portrayal of bigotry or prejudice should make you feel uncomfortable. That's the entire purpose of why many authors, directors, what have you have made works about the issues of bigotry in our society. It's to make people feel uncomfortable and want something better.

 

The way I see it, if Bioware's portraying it negatively and getting a negative reaction, then they're doing something right.

 

But is it their intention to portray this negatively? If they aren't portraying this negatively but getting negative reactions. 
Does it mean they're doing something wrong then?

 

I know it's fictional, no need to emphasize. And there's no qunaris or elves irl so no one should be offended.
Still the undertone of racism shouldn't be encouraged as 'acceptable' even if it's a fictional world imo.
