May I ask a question?  If Varric is a LI, how would you guys react?  Please don't dismiss this as a case of "It can't happen," because I want your honest opinion about the idea.

 

I know if he wasn't, I'd be happy to have my best bud in Thedas back and play the game to see if anyone else trips my trigger.

I'd have to say I'd have mixed feelings. Positive because yay, Varric is a romance! Negative because I'd like to see the Bianca storyline reach a conclusion with hopefully them back together.

I'd be glad for the people that wanted him and also glad that it may indicate that he is finally letting go of Bianca which to me is a good thing since I don't find holding a torch for that long to be healthy.

Maybe not older, but she's  definitely experienced.  The point I was trying to make is that Bioware already made an unconventional female character.  That was Avenline.  She was a strong, competent, hardened woman who had a unique relationship with the PC without it being romantic in nature.

Bioware has made several unconventional characters. Definitely not saying that they haven't. (See Shale for a great example.) More so, I'm wondering if they were willing to include more than they're already including in this batch. It's always possible they just flatly looked over gender count.

Pretty sure, and I dunno how to do spoiler tags, so spoilers, that the actual Bianca is dead. They had a plot thread about her in the comics.

 

And I would be happy for the people who have been wanting to romance him since DA2 but would feel indifferent myself.

Recent events have caused me to think he actually has a decent shot at being a LI. I'd be all for it personally

Wouldn't affect my main profile much.
Each time I play an rpg my first play is what I would actually do, meaning it is always a human male warrior, and since I am straight I wouldn't romance him.
Either way, my inquisitor will be single, maybe flirting with a girl he can't romance depending, but if available be totally happy with his friends or whoever he is around after the game if he lives. Varric I hope is one of those people.

For other playthroughs, or for his character, I don't know. I always felt he was still in love with Bianca, so if he put down his crossbow for a new one if he was romanced, and he learned to move on but not forget her, I would make a new profile to see that.

I want him happy ;-;

Wouldn't bother me in the slightest. Honestly, for me at least, if Solas isn't a LI, I hope it's Varric. I'm just not into Blackwall (sorry!) so yeah, kind of selfish I know.

I want Solas to be an LI, so I'll be disappointed if it's Varric instead, but it's not like it's an unfair choice either way. I'm not going to be mad about it.

 

I would be a little disappointed with the 5/3 split theory on principle, though. I'm really hoping for an even distribution and I'm sticking to that hope.

1) I'd be happy for the people who wanted a Varric romance. I'm, personally, indifferent.

2) As a completionist, I'd craft an Inquisitor for his romance plot.

3) I'd feel a little sad that his Bianca subplot ended up going nowhere.

I never read the comic, and looking over the wiki it doesn't say she's specifically dead, just that he has a vision of her from the fade. So, I don't know.

Nah he'll just end up going into serious denial and think the crossbow Bianca is the dwarf Bianca and his relationship with his crossbow will get 1000 times more intimate/creepy

It sounds like she's either not dead or that her story will somehow get resolved somewhere, some time.

I don't remember exactly what she said the last time it came up (not too long ago), but I think that may have been the general gist. If Bianca truly is dead, I expect we'll eventually get details, given that she actually took the time to confront speculation about it.
