After ME3, and if it's on accident (I don't think they planned it that way, and I do give the DA team way more credit then that) then why not give straight women an extra romance? I'm not saying that to be mean or rude, just to let you know, so please don't take it that way. Trade Solas or Blackwall for Vivienne as a bisexual and it's still largely balanced out.
Because doing so screws over lesbians and gay men, who had it even worse in ME.
But I really don't think that's happening. I still think it will be 2/4/2 with two options being available to less races.

@ladyofpayne Back up: Please detail to me when Sera, Cullen or Dorian showed signs of being racist? Sera doesn't like Cole and that has nothing to do with race. Dorian hasn't shown any direct signs of being racist towards one race or the other. Cullen has had problems with mages, sure, but racist? News to me.
You honestly believe that Sera and Dorian, the first two gay Lis, will be race-gated? You honestly think that Cullen, who's fans make up ~30% of the activity for the entire forums, is going to be race gated?
Shine on you crazy diamond you, shine on.
Why would there be two exclusives? I'm not following.
Cullen and Varric (if he was a LI) would both be exclusive to straight women. That's the gist of it.

Some people have been suggesting Varric would be straight.
I wouldn't think Sera would be race-gated. The only reason I can think of to gate an elf, and this is purely based on what I know which is very little about specific characters, is that elven genes are stupid recessive and they'd be afraid of non-elf pregnancies. Sera has no fear of that, so why shouldn't she have a little fun? Presuming she'd be the type to worry about that, which I doubt.
Solas might be different. Solas could probably pretty easily be afraid of diminishing the elven gene pool.
<joke>But my elfquisitor think their species is better off being converted into qunari through transpecies romances. </joke>
Only 2 LIs are race gated.
I'm really hoping the devs aren't going to make it one of the exclusive companions (unless it's of a group that has more than one exclusive option).
I forgot about it.
I'm just not going to believe right now that they planned to give lesbians two choices and straight women four, probably with two exclusives. I think some people are being a little overzealous.
i mean you can tell who is talking with predictions. The devs said in the questionaire it would be a mostly symetrical split except for the possible race gating.
Before, i saw some straight guys say there would be 5 LIs 2 bi women, a gay guy, a bi guy and a straight guy. Now the idea of straight women getting 4 compared to Lesbian/straight men 2 is very unlikely.

Who was poorly implemented, not acquired til Act 2 and had a rather "meh" romance (not because of a lack of a FTB, but because the dialogue was very snooze-worthy.) I'd call that 1/2 an option at best, and while there is some that enjoy the romance, it seems like not many did.
I'm talking another option for the straight ladies that isn't put awkwardly in the game during the second chapter.
I read a rumor that "fairness" wasn't taken into account. Which I kinda like, as it means they wrote the characters first and worried about quota later.

To say nothing of not visiting you during one of the hardest moments of your life, not having a final romantic line, and jumping straight from "If I broke my vows to be with you, I would not be worthy of you" to "become a sister of the chantry" and doesn't even travel with you after Meredith, which even Fenris did after I killed him in defense of the mages.
Go figure.

I don't see why anyone needs an extra option. I'm struggling to imagine a game where I even get equal options, so it's hard to sympathize with someone else's extra not being good enough. No offense.

CASSANDRA: Fenris... went with Hawke. After Hawke killed him?
VARRIC: Did I mention it wasn't a healthy relationship? Because I think I might have alluded to that a few times.
CASSANDRA: His corpse.
VARRIC: Really unhealthy.

I'm still laughing. This is genius.

That bug was beautiful.

Going by my guess list:
Straight
Cass
Cullen
Varric
So that's two straight options for ladies, one for straight men
Bi
Josie
Iron Bull
Vivienne
So that's up to three options for straight men, one for the gay men, two for the lesbians, three for the straight ladies at this point.
Gay
Dorian
Sera
Let's tally: 3 for straight men, three for the lesbians, two for gay men, three for straight men, four for straight women. Or, they could switch up Vivienne for someone else and make it two for for the lesbians, three for gay men, and four for straight women.
Is it really that hard to believe that BW could favor straight women this time around, even if on accident?

None taken.
...Um, we could say that about the gay and lesbian romances too. No one needs more than one option, but here we are, looking like everyone is going to get at least two.

It's extremely easy to believe they would favor straight women over gay men and lesbians.

Sebastian wouldn't know what romance was if it hit him over the head with a baseball bat. No one missed anything there.
Lesbians:Sera Josie
Straight women: Cullen, (I mean it is pretty obvious iron Bull will be there by now and this is predictions 97 % sure he is a romance) iron Bull
Gay men: Dorian, Iron Bull
Straight men:Cassandra, Josie
So, so far we have 6. Either 1 or 2 race/gender combo have more, or less since they said it was almost completely balanced other than "race gating" in only a couple exceptions. So... Varric could be for dwarf lady only, and another of the guys is one race gay only, or vivienne could be straight or lesbian with only one race.
or, and I find this more likely due to more content for more people.2 LIs dislike 1 race and the next 2 revealed are Bi.
so Straightwomen/men/gay/lesbians don't lose out it would be human Man misses out on Solas, but everyone else including say... Qunari man could be just fine.
The hierarchy is
Straight males
Gay women/Straight women (Depending on whether the lesbian options also appeal to straight males like with Liara)
gay men
It's extremely easy to believe they would favor straight women over gay men and lesbians.
I don't argue that, and that wasn't exactly my point. I've read posters absolutely aghast at the mere mention that straight women might get more content than straight men and are quick to state that will never happen.
I don't wish anyone to get shorted on the romances. I hope you know that. ![]()

Where do you think bisexuals fit into that, if you don't mind me asking?
XD

I thought seriously about opening the playthrough from an earlier check and seeing if I picked the wrong option, since I thought you could talk him into it if rivalry was maxed. But I'm trying to have worldstates that differ by more than race, class, and gender.
I've clearly absorbed much of my girlfriend's rage over her feelings on inadequate romance options in this game. I doubt I'll drop the Cassandra issue anytime soon.

I'm a little confused as to why one thinks the demographic one plays is in any way related to the demographic one actually is.
It doesn't matter to me how many romances any one group is, as long as there's plenty to go around.

*snip*
If this were the case and say the Iron Bull were race-gated (seems possible), it would end up being that gay men would only get one option if they were a race that could not romance the Iron Bull. While part of me would not be surprised, that seems a little too limiting.
I think it was Gaider who said that Bioware would worry about gender and sexuality equality more than they would worry about race equality
