Race is a blurry concept used out of its confort zone that was originally animals.

I use "species" because "races" are too tied with the false concept of human races and ends up being misleading.

 

 

Yes, but just like someone can be attracted to various species, someone can be attracted to just one or two. Do they need a "good reason" to ?

 

 

YOUR opinion is influenced by your life in OUR world, and can very well be challeged by the outlook of characters that live in a different world.

 

After all, characterization must be made with the fictional world in mind.

 

I'm just using the word the game uses so long as we know what the other is talking about thats what matters.

 

I would like to think so yes though that's mainly curiously on my own part and again my worrying about the race gates in general. Like if for example Cassandra said she didn't like dwarves I would be curious as to why. Would it be a personal question that she doesn't have to answer yes but it wouldn't' stop me from wanting to know and it wouldn't stop me from asking about it either.

 

Like I said I hope the game surprises me and doesn't make it come off the wrong way to me since I find it to be an ugly trait in characters and people. DA already did a racist character if I recall correctly that elf lady whose name I can't remember at the moment from Awakening, I just don't like the idea of character that paint everyone with the same brush from a certain race or class or anything like that, and I think I have a right to worry about it.

 

I'm not saying there shouldn't be characters with that outlook either I just seriously question making them LIs (even if I fully know that its due to animation issues) There can be characters with that outlook that don't have to LIs, it just seems like an odd odd thing to put on a character that is meant to hopefully be your friend and/or more.

 

I'd go on but I'm low on sleep and I fear I'm already making little sense and just smashing my reasons together blender style at the moment.

As the player no I know already she's straight as the PC I would be curious if its me or she isn't into women so yes as the PC I would be.

No, my PC wouldn't care and PC wouldn't ask .  If she's not into my PC,  I'd see no need to belabor the point.

It was a question to see if you're treating a rejection because of gender differently than a rejection because of species/race.

 

Because the whole "LIs better have a reason to refuse race X/W" does sounds like "LIs better have a reason to refuse gender Y/Z" and it makes me uncomfortable.

You mean like "Sorry, I'm not into elves." vs "Sorry, I'm not into women?"  Nah, I wouldn't react any differently to be honest.   Their reasons are their own.

So I think Iron Bull is definitely an LI. The other two spots is a toss up between Solas, Varric, Vivienne and Blackwall. I think Solas and Viv might be uninterested in a romance (too ambitious or just asexual) so it could be Blackwall and Varric.

If this is true though (with IB and BW being bi, and Varric straight but race gated presumably), that would mean four options for straight ladies, and only 2 for gay ladies (and straight dudes). Would they really do that?

 

The more i think about it, the more it makes sense that Vivi is an option after all, and a bi one at that.

 

Edit: Though I'm not exactly impartial on this issue, and wanting Viv could be clouding my judgement

Personally I think that Viv is too ambitious to want to "deal with the INquisitor's" Crap as a dev said in the Q&A and Solas seems so asexual *asmuchasiwanttoromancehimaswell* Also People are very optomistic that they're gonna have an even 4way split between genders, but I can't help but to get the feeling that we're gonna end up with one more guy than girl, sorry for being a pessimist :S

That is an argument that can be made for Blackwall as well, especially since his death is quite near and he seems a thoughful chap

 

Still hoping for IB, Vivi and Solas, IB because I so want to say "called it !", Vivi to balance the sausage fest, and Solas for the brainy romance.

I do not really think that they'd have two more male Love Interests than females (that would be the case if all three unrevealed LIs would be male), if they can avoid it. That would just seem ... odd.

Same and I'd love him to be bi personally, I was just going by the majority opinion these days. But the issue would still stand, the only thing that would change is gay guys getting four options too (and ALL of them companions).

 

Straight ladies and gay guys haven't had the best treatment (ME, I'm looking at you), but that's still DOUBLE the options, and it's just too skewed imo.

Maybe swap Blackwall for Vivienne - bisexual and perhaps race gated?  The amount of whine the forums would get would be phenomenal and I don't think my soul could take that... and I know BW don't care about balance with this, but ya know, the thought is terrifying to me.  I don't need tears for sustenance, they just drain me.  There's always going to be someone who's disappointed, I just don't know anymore, the whole thing is just depressing me...

 

Edit:  And I say this as someone with an interest in Solas (my number two after Varric)
