A 5/3 LI imbalance would really suck, I'm still bitter that the core team has a gender ratio of 7/5, but 5 males LI vs 3 females LI would really be rubbing salt in the wounds.

Asexual =! Aromantic

 

An asexual person can very much want to be in a romantic relationship with someone (strong emotional bond, non-sexual physical contact, etc.), they just aren't sexually attracted to other people (usually). Solas could very well be asexual and still be a romance option (and a lot of people want an asexual romance). What you guys are referring to is more aromantic, and that would likely preclude him from being a love interest. 

 

My guess is that they wouldn't address the ace/aro thing at all and say he's too into his work, kinda like Mordin. 

 

Personally, I would love for him to be super openly pansexual. I thought Anders' declaration to M!Hawke was pretty pan, but since it never comes up with F!Hawke, it's not the same as someone who would actually talk about it with other people in a non-sexualized way (Isabela).

I just realized that it'd be a 5-3 skew.... IDK I mean, I would lOVE for Viv to be a romacne option and I assumed she would at least in the beginning esp last Feb when Bioware used her and a quote that sounded like it could be from her directly in some Valentine's Day Card, but the more they release about her, the more I personally thought that she fit into the "Has more things to be worried about aside from the Inquisitior" dealio that's said about Companions who wouldn't be romance options. However I will concur that Blackwall and Solas are also vague as Solas seems super asexual considering his info and Blackwall is close to his death, or rather the calling. I will however state that Blackwall is tragic romance bait a la Thane if he is one. 

 

Conclusion, I would love for Viv to be a romance option, and I wouldn't doubt if she was bi with race gating because she seems to be super classy and proabbly wouldn't want to be seen with a Dwarf or something lol.

Maybe swap Blackwall for Vivienne - bisexual and perhaps race gated?  The amount of whine the forums would get would be phenomenal and I don't think my soul could take that... and I know BW don't care about balance with this, but ya know, the thought is terrifying to me.  I don't need tears for sustenance, they just drain me.  There's always going to be someone who's disappointed, I just don't know anymore, the whole thing is just depressing me...

 

Edit:  And I say this as someone with an interest in Solas (my number two after Varric)

As progressive as they are, it's not going to happen.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if they added another straight man and woman. I'm just hoping they won't do so.

In DA II, I got two romances. In DA:I, I will probably get two romances.

Agreed, not everyone will benefit from doing it this way. But some will indeed get more choices, supposing they replay the game several times.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I think that's a strong indication that gay female PCs should expect no more than 2 LIs.

I'm really hoping that Solas is an LI. I think it would be refreshing to have a brainy, nerdy, intellectual character to romance for a change, as I don't think Bioware has done a male LI like that before (I seriously liked the character of Finn too and wished that went somewhere...). I also would really rather prefer not to have all the LI options for straight females to be brawny, muscular, masculine, warrior-type guys, and I think that Solas is a refreshing alternative for those of us who aren't attracted to that kind of guy.

His quote could also have been a general 'curb your enthusiasm,' but I'm at the point where I'm anticipating any more female LIs will be straight.
