Late night frustration, is my best guess.  I think a lot of people just want the romances confirmed so we can get all of our angst and/or joy out of our systems and find something else to discuss.

Yeah, I have the feeling that people won't be able to move on until everything is revealed and I totally understand. The marketting is not really good in my opinion.

Who does that leave?

Yaep, doesn't sood good from where I'm standing.

And I wish I could be blase about it, but if this actually happens, I'm afraid I'm gonna be bitter about it.

In that case, I'll know things haven't changed from DA2. I had 2 options then, will have 2 now. But when everyone else is getting more and you're getting left in the dust, it feels different. But I'm still gonna play it still enjoy the content I have.

And this is still Bioware. I get to play as a woman! And I get to romance women! And I get to have more than one romance choice! All amazing thins I don't get anywhere else and for which I'm extremely grateful.

But then again, this IS still Bioware. Expecting same amount of choice from them is reasonable imo. Being disappointed when you don't get it is, too.

Edit: Dear Maker, suddenly I can't quote a single thing anymore. So. Tired.

I wonder if that means there's a female companion we don't know about.

They've said that they've released all the companions and followers, so we can assume that the fourth female would be Vivienne, seeing as Leliana isn't available. Unless they go with only two options for straight men, which seems unlikely.

The other romance is probably an Isabela from DAO situation.

GaymerX is my last hope, it's the best (only) place to talk about romance.

Regarding romances in particular, it's dreadful.

No, no, I meant that with all-bi system there's only 4 options, while with this system there's 6 (well 8, actually), so if you don't mind playing female or male and gay or straight you get access to 2 more LIs than what you could have had in the all-bi scenario.

Yes, I agree with that: a bisexual PC will get more options. A person who plays both men and women will get more options. Allan also says that not everyone will benefit.

Who will not benefit? He's not talking RACE. The discussion was only about gender and sexual orientation. He addressed his comment specifically to me, a gay player.

As such, I think there's a good chance that lesbian PCs will only have two options.

I think the BW marketing team needs some cupcakes.  I notice that works better than angry letters.

Only place?  Nah, there's still the entire summer and a few more cons after GaymerX.  Is GaymerX the best place though?  Agreed there.   :)

The people who angst over romances are probably already hooked in the eyes of marketers as there are few other dealers in town.

I have a question for people:

Let's say that the remaining three LI's are all guys, with all of them being bisexual and two of them being race-gated so that only one or two races have access to them.  In this scenario, straight guys and lesbians will have two options each and straight gals and gay guys will have 2 options each with a few races getting a third option.  When it's phrased this way, it doesn't seem as skewed.  However, people are correct that this would be a 5/3 skew for male LI's.

Does looking at it as "Everyone gets two options, but straight gals and gay guys of certain races get a third option" make it seem less skewed?

I ask this because I've seen many people on the BSN argue that the romances in ME2 imported romances in ME3 "didn't count" because the PC didn't have access to them unless them they imported them.  I've always argued that there were 10 romances in ME 3, but have had several people vehemently argue with me that it's "really" only 5 (because Miranda, Jack, Tali, Garrus, and Kelly have to be imported).  What are people's thoughts on this?

Wouldn't that mean four with race gating, not 3? If they're all bi

Edit: Nvm, I got it.

And I don't know wht to tell you, honestly. Seems the same to me, I'm still right where I was in this scenario. And I'd rather play a woman of another race than a guy to get a LI, so that hurdle doesn't mean as much to me personally. I don't know how other players might feel about that.

Am I misreading this question?  There are only 9 companions.  We know them all and it's been confirmed by devs that the ones that we know are all that there are.

They could have a secret companion. The revealed "all" the DA:O companions but didn't include Loghian.

It would still be skewed. We're not even talking imports here.

Racial selection just isn't as big a deal to people as gender and orientation.

Your scenario is 2 for gay women/straight men, and 4 for gay men/straight women, isn't it?

Maybe not the optimal place to announce a couple of straight romances, though.

If that is indeed what we're waiting for.  Which I don't especially think we are, but we could be.

I think that this might be one of this times where my english is failing me so maybe I'm missing something, sorry if that's the case and being dense   but, I'm re-reading Allan's quote, I think it could be that "not everyone will benefit from doing it this way" can mean "people who oonly play a specific gender/sexuality combo will not benefit", and he might say that to you because he assumes you're one of those, but still, people who playsany gender/sexuality have more choices that with the all-bi system.

I admit that my optimism may be biasing my interpretation of the quote though :P , and if I haven't still understand correctly what you're saying, please feel free to ignore me :D , I don't want to be tiresome about it  :)

That's another (silly probably  ) reason I thinkt they're all bi, because I really expect to make there the announcement for the other LIs. Information about romances seems to be more abundant lately, I don't think they'll keep us in agony much longer

I really hope you don't regret those words in case they wait for until September for the rest of the reveals.  BioWare is a damned fine company, but devs have openly admitted loving watching us squirm. ;)

I assume we're going to have two straight romances , two gay romances ,two bisexual romances , and 2 other bisexual romances with a  race restriction (so they have the same content to produce as a gay/straight romance).

I think they need 4 different love scene (4 races) for non bisexual romance.

If the race gated romance are just open to 2 races (2 races/2gender) , you also have 4 scenes to do.

well, my predictions almost always fail, but I have to get one right once in a while, no?  :D if, not, well, 2 months of agony will be, at least I had a couple of day of hope  :P

Yes. That's what I've been saying.

I take Allan's comment to mean that people like me - who only do f/f romances - should not expect more romances than in DA:II.

If it is 5/3, I'm not sure it's going to be well accepted. Lesbians don't have Cassandra and they are upset ( sorry for them, ), and many people, were already frustrated with the fact that it was unbalanced between female and male companions. It would just add salt on the wound. ( I can also imagine straight male gamers annoyed too )

I personally wouldn't care, but I can see things not going well.

I want to see straight men getting 2 romances while gay men and straight women get 4.

I don't *wish* that upon anyone, but I just want to see the reaction when that's announced.

Seems a stretch Maria.  They've confirmed 9 companions numerous times, confirmed there is no DLC companion, and now confirmed that we've met all of the companions.  I'd not get your hopes up for a secret companion at this point.

Yes, I suspect it will not be cute.

If they do go this route, maybe lesbians will get extra romance options in the new ME series.  Bra-wearing shower scenes aplenty!

Okay I made my own chart because I am so confused.

Jesus christ 8 out of 11 people are romanceable. That is ridiculous. ANYWAY.

Spoiler

My guess is on Vivienne and Blackwall being the other two LIs. I don't usually try guessing, but the hints are there in my opinion.

Does romance equate to a full on, "I LOVE YOU" etc or can it be just a fling?

lsoalsoalso, didn't someone kind of vaguely hint at a secret companion?

This is just random speculation to throw into the conversation, purely because I think it's important to remember that there are two race gated romances, and given the reasons Devs have stated in the past for race gating (Mainly citing animation issues), I cannot for the life of me think of a reason why they wouldn't be Varric and the Bull.

I'm thinking I'm alone in this, but does anyone have reasons why the others might be the race-gated options?

Keeping the race-gated information in mind I bet someone could make a pretty informed guess on who all our LI's are.  :P
