because I think Iron Bull is race gated against the smaller races, likes elves and dwarfs. And I think it'd be unfair if Vivienne would be also gated against dwarfs or elves. But I don't know anything. Maybe Vivienne and iron Bull are just race gated against dwarfs and dwarfs get Dagna as an extra romance to balance things out.. 

It's not fair but I think they've hinted heavily that not all races will get equal options.

 

All of the romances are companions and advisers, there are only flirt options at most outside of that.

Jaessa is an apprentice, a love interest, and the worst voice acting I've ever encountered in a BioWare game.

 

I dunno about the worst, but she made me cringe. I think the guy who voices the red haired knight in Redcliffe (Ser Perth?) and a SWTOR bonus boss is pretty dang awful. I don't know why they keep using him.

No because being straight is something that exist, as far as I'm aware being elfonlysexual, nohumanssexual, or dwarfandqunarionlysexual aren't things that exist. Now I won't argue that a lot of that is do to my real life understanding of sexuality and also to the fact that I have yet to see a character with preferences close to that in DA, at least not in the games which are what matters to me since I don't read the books or comics (apologies if this thread has moved on already I didn't bother to refresh the page before answering. Just felt like I should answer your question first it would be rude to just ignore it.)

Technically, all of those could be potential sexualities (in Thedas, obviously). They'd mostly be classed as fetishes by us, rather than sexualities, but that's largely because we have a relatively binary view of sexuality. Of course the fact that they might exist has little bearing on whether they'll be represented in-game. I mean, it's not like 'being attracted to only elves [regardless of whether said elf is male or female]' (in a world where elves exist) makes inherently any more or less sense than 'is attracted to only men or women regardless of racial category'.

Why are people being so pessimistic about Varric?

 

Look at it this way; People wanted to romance Anders in Awakening, but couldn't - but he became a LI in DAII

 

Leliana and Morrigan, both appear in two games now and were both romance options. So far all characters (with the exception of Oghren, which given his personal quest wasn't surprising) have been romancable.

 

And what is this about Varricmance having a little following? I seem to remember running into them constantly for years now.

 

It is likely that Bioware is just keeping everything in suspense, and since they know a lot of people want to romance Varric, is keeping it hidden until the last possible moment.

 

I also don't think Blackwall will be a romance. It would be like romancing Duncan.

Yeah, after they changed his personality so much that the reason people fell for him in the first place was gone.

 

Went from a cheerful, laid-back, snarky, funny jester to an angry, brooding, homeless, angsty, woa-is-me-and-all-mages whiner with a split personality in Justice, a dangerous streak with his violent outbursts, and an obsessive streak in everything he does. (Even his romance with Hawke is filled with obsession.)

Pick the "wrong" options in Awakening and he is just as angry and spiteful as he is in DA II. In Awakening he hides it, in DA II he shows it openly. Besides some of his banter still has much of the Anders humour. And as far as homeless goes- he was always homeless

In the case of Varric, he looks pretty shell-shocked in some of the clips we've seen him in, so some fear we might not get the Varric we love back. The writers have hinted that Bianca is a real person who isn't completely gone from his life, so some have speculated that he might not be available at all, or if he is then there's going to be a lot of melodrama and heartache on account of her. And some worry that he might be race-gated since he's expressed interest in only female dwarves before, and specifically told Hawke "too bad I'm not into humans."

 

So, there's a lot to be worried about. People fell in love with Varric's in DA2, and are afraid that'll change too much, too completely.
