Even though you couldn't in DA2,companions were jealous of each other.
True. And I remember Isabela sad if Hawke`s LI was Merril. But it felt like there was no second chance for romances in DA2 though.

My theories on companion-companion romances
Cassandra and Cullen
Sera and Josephine
Iron Bull and Dorian
OMG Cassandra and Cullen would be adorable together! When I'm not romancing them, obviously. I also like Sera and Josaphine, but Iron Bull and Dorian seem weird to me... maybe Dorian and Solas
opposites attract!
Of course, they call all get together with whomever as long as I have Varric

Anyone refused to romance Isabella because she would not move into the mansion?

Her protectiveness towards Merril if Hawke romances her was really heartwarming.

I was disappointed but I still thought she was one of the best options.

I recall that Fenris was the only DA2 companion that wouldn't enter a romance with you if you happened to boink another companion before him - something that you wouldn't know until it was too late. I wonder if any of the LIs in DAI will react the same way?

That reminds me of something else I'd like to see in banter or in dialog with companions them warning you not to hurt your LI if they are friends with your LI. I found Isabela's and Merrill's relationship adorable and also found it heartwarming how protective Isabela was of kitten I mean Merrill.

I don't see how a transgendered character as a romance would be a problem. Transgendered or not, if, for example, a character says she's a woman and presents as a woman, then she's a woman, and would fill one of the female LI slots. Vice versa for a trans dude. Are there people who would complain? Sure, but there are gonna be people who complain about their available LI choices no matter what traits the writers give them.
Like DG has said, they're interested in providing options, not making sure everyone likes every option they have.
How do you know the number of people who would be interested in a trans romance? How would you even know the character was trans unless they trusted you enough to tell you?
I think it would be AMAZING if one of our companions in a Dragon Age game ended up being trans, but, as the PC, you wouldn't even know until/unless they chose to trust you with that information after you formed a close friendship with them.
please no that would be really strange and would make a lot of people ( including me) uncomfortable
you start hitting on a woman in the game and then suddenly she says I'm a transvestite ??
That would ruin the romance immediately
I love how Bioware offers us different options (gay and straight) But a trans romance would be too much
And if there really will be a transgendered character they should say so from the beginning and not go with your suggestion by
making it a surprise

There's little problem with that scenario. IRL there are surgeries and hormone replacement therapies. Does DA universe have magical equivalent of it?
Not all trans* people have had surgeries though.
I don't know how I would feel if confronted with a trans* LI. Part of me would be pleased for trans* people that they were getting recognition and a character they could interact with and identify with. Part of me would be uneasy because aside from treating them with the respect I'd give anyone else I wouldn't know how to approach the subject if at all, and I wouldn't want to say the wrong thing through lack of knowledge- even to a videogame character. In all honesty, this just highlights my lack of knowledge and exposure to trans* people- so perhaps including one would be a very good idea if portrayed correctly. There's no harm in exposure and learning more about people with different stories to tell than my own

As someone who lives apart from my husband for work at times, it didn't bother me at all.
That being said, all of our companions and advisors will live with us in DA:I, so no worries there ![]()

I dunno. I would personally want to know at the beginning of the romance whether someone was transgender or not. I don't think having that sprung on you during the last lap would go over particularly well in game or in RL. My reaction to this (and I think a lot of people's reaction to this) would be anger.
I also don't know the precise number of people directly interested in a trans romance, but I don't think assuming it's significantly smaller than the number interested in straight and gay romances is unreasonable.
Let's say such romance option was trans woman. If in DA universe there is nothing to provide actual sex change, then I don't see a reason for such romance, because it would only strengthen transphobic sentiments that they are just "men in drag who want to trick you into sex".
But let's say magic to make it possible exists, and the results are even better than in real life, so the woman in question was only born in male body, but fixed it since. Your reaction would still be the same?

But why even include it then? If its already like completely normal girl?
whats the point apart from a big controversy

I think Isabela's husband ruined fancy houses for her
I quite liked that she was a free spirit who did her own thing, but I can see why others might have found it to be a bad thing

Trans* people are people. They are not 'it'. The point would be that trans* people do exist and are among the most underrepresented and discriminated against people across the globe. I can't imagine what it must be like to know you were born in the wrong body. Like many disenfranchised groups trans* people suffer from a lack of positive representation in media. A trans* companion could be a positive, groundbreaking step for trans* people- and that's worth controversy.
As I've said above, as a group I know least about trans* people, but I would be very happy to learn more.

Do they have a set of genitals that are an utter turnoff for you? If so, maybe that can be brought up before sex. If not, than it's none of your business until they choose to share it.
