I think a trans companion with a nice friendship arc would be nice. And I'm done now. *leaves*

And I'm not exactly pleased with the notion of having it sprung on someone a good deal into the romance that's my biggest issue.
Yeah they'd be like "cats out of the bag" right before the world explodes

Unless sex change is possible in Thedas (and we don't know It's possible), she's not one.

Wow, sorry everyone. I guess I shouldn't have encouraged this conversation. It's bringing all the scared cis, straight boys out of the woodwork and casting a negative light over this thread. :/
Don't worry, children. No scary transwomen are gonna 'trick' you in a Dragon Age game. You're safe.

No Maevaris is transgendered, so clearly it is possible in Thedas, I'm leaving again now...

Yes? What that does that have to do with anything? That person was making the comment that a transwoman would be 'trapping' a straight man by not telling him that she is a man. I made the point that she is NOT a man, and therefore would not be somehow taking advantage or manipulating his attraction to women.
Again, though, this is veering off topic.
I just think it would be amazing to have a trans companion some day. *shrugs*
yes, ******** of epic proportions, no nice surprise ![]()

Lol. Why?

People started talking about it in the Josephine thread before sfuso reveal, as an hyphotethical question on romancing her in this case.

Maevaris still has the body of a man, as far as I recall.

I agree this topic of discussion is probably not the greatest for this thread.
I would however like to point out that if you as a straight man find yourself attracted to a trans woman without realizing she is a trans woman, that is entirely on you. She is not obligated to tell you anything about her gender or sexuality, and is certainly not "tricking" you. Your own attraction is your own responsibility.

JadePrince, don't be flippant about people wanting the transgendered discussion to stop. I myself don't care about it but felt it was getting way too involved and detailed for something that isn't in DAI. Like I said, if you want to have that discussion have it in another thread or even in PMs.

I agree with you
Many people are not into Transgender people and just like in real life if you would be dating a girl
who reveals to be a transgender after some time and not immediately would be a pretty big deal for me the same applies to a game
Yeah I agree, people have thier personal prefrence and desires for themselves. If thier was a trans character in the game you prob would not know unless they told or hinted. Does mean should not be none in games but idk I like how they did Mai? in the comics and it was not oblivous until she was in prison.

Everything you said is just... super gross. Transwomen are NOT men. They are women. If they tell you they are women, they are not deceiving you.
You have to earn trust. A trans person is not likely (or obligated to) introduce that part of their identity first thing. They aren't going to 'trap' you, either. For pete's sake.
I'm done though. All these comments are just proof of why games (and other media) NEED to include positive portrayals of trans characters, because so many people still know nothing about it and have all these incorrect ideas about what being trans means.
But they should introduce that part if the Protagonist starts hitting on them because its a big deal believe it or not
to most people!!
Of course the other things that that dude said were wrong (transwomen being men)

I'm a straight male and I don't have a problem with any of your posts...but you surely know that there are straight women who dislike transgenders, and you don't know if all the people that debated with you were men.Wow, sorry everyone. Generally, the only time I am curious about a person's sexuality is if I want to have sex with them. I'm glad I found out about Dorian, in that I really wanted to romance him. Usually, my first PC is a female, like me, and I would have been seriously bummed to have put hours into the game only to find out that I had zero chance with him. Now, that will be my *second* play through lol
