Maevaris still has the body of a man, as far as I recall.
Yes, that is correct

You are a shining light in this discussion.
I try.
I'm a straight male and I don't have a problem with any of your posts...but you surely know that there are straight women who dislike transgenders, and you don't know if all the people that debated with you were men.
But why should we give bigoted opinions any credence?
Generally, the only time I am curious about a person's sexuality is if I want to have sex with them. I'm glad I found out about Dorian, in that I really wanted to romance him. Usually, my first PC is a female, like me, and I would have been seriously bummed to have put hours into the game only to find out that I had zero chance with him. Now, that will be my *second* play through lol
I think he would have been gentlemanly enough to let you know sooner than that, haha.
I think he or she was referring to the trans sex=body they are born with] then thier gender. Transwomen are not men by gender but biologically in terms of sex if not a intersex fertile or not then yes they are male. Its similar to say a therian, human body but not human internally.
That was my exact point, even if they perceive themselves as a woman, biologically speaking they are a man though I suppose i did not say it quite so eloquently which i suppose explains the heated response i got oh well......I have TG friends who once they had known me for long enough revealed to me that they were TG and I'm ok with that because they know I'm straight and all they ever wanted was a friend not intimate relationship.
I didn't mean she's not one. I apologize if it seems I intended such.Oh ok, but...yeah it's complicated, to me she's still a woman because that's what she identifies as regardless of whats in her pants.
Yes? What that does that have to do with anything? That person was making the comment that a transwoman would be 'trapping' a straight man by not telling him that she is a man. I made the point that she is NOT a man, and therefore would not be somehow taking advantage or manipulating his attraction to women.
Again, though, this is veering off topic.
I just think it would be amazing to have a trans companion some day. *shrugs*
I agree with everything you said, but I have some doubts if Bioware could actually handle it in respectful way. Judging from the example of Mae, the only trans character they are possibly going to provide is basically, for people who don't know much about this stuff, crossdresser. We know it has nothing to do with it, but for them, if the character does nothing to change their body (apparently because, unlike in our world's situation, they simply can't), the line could be blurry. And unfortunately it fuels transphobic sentiments. Besides, as I've seen, generally trans people (women especially) really don't like when people of opposite gender play them in movies or shows.

You're not saying it eloquently now. Basically, if you're talking about transwomen, cease and desist utterly using the terms "he" or "man."

What I meant is that Josie seems to have the body of a biological woman of post-op transwoman, so if sex change isn't possible in DA, she couldn't be a transwoman; and that Mae judging by some shots is still a pre-OP one.
She does look pretty though...![]()
I would think that many, if not most, heterosexual and homosexual people would want to know if their potential sexual partner is transgender.
Boo to having no likes!
My point is that Jade's post seems to imply only men dislike transgenders, while it's not true, and women might've debated with Jade.I try.

It's a pity these kind of discussion is always cut short. I think it could prove enlightening to a few people. I would rather it continued politely, even if not in this thread.Lets defuse the bomb before it goes off. I thought this was a good topic which actually shed some light on a large issue.
Oh, I'm sure of that...I mostly meant, how long it might take me to actually meet up with him. With that mustache, I'm sure our Dorian is nothing if not gallant. *swoons...again*

Actors aren't a problem when it comes to video games. They might have a unique body model, but that should be doable.
.-.
It doesn't matter if they are pre or post op, it is never appropriate to call a transsexual person by their physical sex when they have already let it be known they would prefer you would use a different pronoun.
It's like if someone said "My name is Robert, but I'd really prefer it if you called me Bob" and you insisted on calling them Robert anyway. That would make you a huge ass hole.

Biologically speaking it seems gender identity is another sex trait that is set up in brain during prenatal period of development. Therefore saying that trans women are biologically men is not really correct. And hormone treatment changes many sex characteristics, which means, changes biology of the rest of the body in some aspects.
She does look pretty though...
I've always thought that if you are having a problem discussing gender-related things, use the pronoun 'they'. Being gender neutral, you can get your point across easier.
I didn't mean she's not one. I apologize if it seems I intended such.

You do not have to be post-op to be a transwoman. In fact, transwomen often get their identity changed to represent as a woman long before they even have surgery if ever. If you live your life as a woman, you are in fact a woman.
This is a fantasy world. If they wanted they could introduce body swapping or extreme shapeshifting.I agree with everything you said, but I have some doubts if Bioware could actually handle it in respectful way. I'd rather the english language just make up a gender neutral pronoun, it would even help when you're making papers and you don't have to go 'he or she', 's/he', or 'them.
If this is about my posts, it wasn't my intention to imply this. I consider Mae a woman. I referred the pre/post-Op i reference of the possibility of sex change existing and the topic of Josie being one.It doesn't matter if they are pre or post op, it is never appropriate to call a transsexual person by their physical sex when they have already let it be known they would prefer you would use a different pronoun.
