So let me get this clear. You know that lesbian players were mistreated in previous games. And that the problem on the first place is that there are twice as much male than female companions. But you would still rather want us to have it the worst, so you could enjoy the fact that one female companion is not romanceable?

I'd say 'game' Lesbians weren't mistreated in DA2.
Or are you talking of Bioware game in general?

Personally, I've always been a strong proponent of equal options. I don't want an extra and I would disagree with the choice even if the last three were Iron Bull, Blackwall and Solas with Solas being gay. I very much want everyone to get equal options. Lesbians and, yes, even you, straight men!  :P

Because it'd gank lesbians, and many of us are already annoyed by Cassandra's straightness. A hypothetical situation where there were only four or six LIs might have worked, but if that's not made sufficiently clear, it comes across badly in that regard.

Fair enough.

I agree, at this point we all have reasons for each option to be true or not. I would honestly say that all options are up in the air now except Iron Bull - the tweets have made him pretty obviously a romance. Everyone else - who knows? I bet you can guess who I'm rooting for, though!

I see! Well good luck to you then ;). Varric is not my first, but more variety is always nice. I could see myself giving his romance a try. Of course they will probably need to resolve the issue of Bianca through a quest or have something happen that gives him incentive to move on before he can be romanced though it is possible so story wise I would say Varric does have just as much a chance at being a LI in my opinion.

Yeah, this, exactly.  The assumption, as a society, that all women are looking for love at any given moment, often supported by media outlets geared toward women... I don't want to derail the thread with a discussion on this, but, I can't help but roll my eyes when I see examples of it as this one would be, intentional on the part of the devs, or not.

Even Aveline, while not a romance option, had an entire companion quest revolve around her romance with somebody else.

It just would have been nice to have another female companion or advisor who wasn't associated with a love story, is all.

Yep, but were in ME3 and DAO, though in the latter the situation was comparable with situation of gay male players.

I'll be honest, trying to pick between Solas, Varric, and Blackwall for the last spot is making my head hurt. Just me?

I'd love for it to be Blackwall- bisexual of course- but I would no longer mind if it was Solas.

I doubt it will be Varric, and if it is him, I really don't think they will make him Bisexual so that would ruin the balance that I still believe they will have.

I thought you referred to DA games.
Isn't the same thing in ME3 too? gays and lesbians have access to the same number of options (2).

You're right about the problem my attempt at a solution that would make me more comfortable would leave lesbian players short an option and Vivi being the only one unable to be romanced could have unpleasant implications. But honestly when your worst is being 1 option short while still having the choice between a companion and non companion no I'm not that bothered. If anything I'd prefer another female outside the companions and advisers be an LI but as it is *shrug*.

Does it help that no Inquisitor will have all the female LIs available to them?

Not exactly... their orientation doesn't really matter here.  It's the idea that our male companions potentially aren't looking for a relationship, for perfectly legitimate reasons, but the female ones all are (except for the one who already has one).  With me, the player, specifically, no less.

Thanks for the kind words! Sometimes this thread gets a little anti-Varric and it makes us Varricmancers sad :(

Then is there a reason that you'd expect us to be bothered by your own discomfort, if you can't bring yourself to care about our lack of options?

To be fair to aveline though you can completely skip that quest and her story goes on quite well. (I'm not too fond of the implication that she apparently becomes more of a uptight commander without Donnic but can't win em all).

I wanted Celene :crying:

Viviv as a LI would annoy me, but Vivi not as a LI would infuriate me, why must it come to that ? :pinched:

Not at all. I simply said I was uncomfortable. I certainly didn't say it to force everyone to agree with me cause I knew plenty of people wouldn't be.

Blame BW for freaking 8 LIs when they don't even have 4 female companions.

*sigh*

Actually, you also tried to undermine the concerns of lesbian players, by stating that 2 LIs is no problem and that everyone was treated badly in ME3.

No no Xili. Don't you realize I can do Jedi mind tricks on the devs. They never do anything that could make me uncomfortable. Nope.

Actually I said I'd feel that way thus it wasn't a big deal to me. People having different preferences. If my only options were Cullen and IB I'd be happy. And you really want to say lesbian players were the only ones that got treated badly in ME3? Newsflash they didn't.

Yes, lesbians have always had less options than straight men in Bioware games (as have straight women and gay men).  However, ME 3 isn't the best example since there are three f/f romances that unlock the romance achievement in ME 3 (more than straight women and gay men).

BG 2, SWTOR, or ME 2 are better examples for you to use.
