Pity that I don't have that power; I could actually use it for good.

Thanks for the kind words! Sometimes this thread gets a little anti-Varric and it makes us Varricmancers sad
Oh, please don't take my comments as anti-Varric! I was just using him as an example, because we know enough about his character from the past games to be able to speculate - more easily than with the unknowns. Even if I'm not interested in romancing Varric myself, he's a great character and I admit his Frostbite self is pretty shmexy
And I can sympathize... I was rooting for the Solas romance back when only a handful of people thought he was cool... and the rest were playing hot potato with him hoping they wouldn't get stuck with him as a potential LI ![]()
Not at all. I simply said I was uncomfortable. I certainly didn't say it to force everyone to agree with me cause I knew plenty of people wouldn't be.
Blame BW for freaking 8 LIs when they don't even have 4 female companions.
*sigh*
Yeah! Screw Bioware for making an absurdly large number of romances to satisfy players! ![]()

When they decided to have twice as many male companions as females and still did that? yep.
Actually I said I'd feel that way thus it wasn't a big deal to me. People having different preferences. And you really want to say lesbian players were the only ones that got treated badly in ME3? Newsflash they didn't.
Were straight women treated worse than lesbians? Because that was my point - we had it the worst. And we would have it again if everything was just like you want it to be.

Yes actually. A straight female who chose to save Ashley in ME3 had a whooping zero romances if she was a fresh import (and considering only around 50% of ME2 games were imports I'm willing to bet a similar number was the case for ME3).
A lesbian player would always have 2 Traynor and Liara.
If you saved Kaidan you got 1 option as a femShep.
Now for imported romances. There's Kaidan. Thane died, Jacob cheated and Garrus was awesome. So straight FemShep had 2 Lis that unlocked the romance achievement. The same number as gay FemShep had in ME3. Only she didn't have to worry about importing a romance or not choosing the wrong VS.
Please, not this again.

But everyone had it worse, since straight women had Garrus. Garrus.
Actually, you also tried to undermine the concerns of lesbian players, by stating that 2 LIs is no problem and that everyone was treated badly in ME3.
i didn't read that at all... I think what we're trying to get at is that there is a disproportionate amount of male advisers/companions to females. Though it's great Bioware is creating 8 romance options, making all those females LIs seems forced. Had they made one of the non-romanceable male characters female instead, so there is at least one female character who's priorities in life don't include finding a boyfriend/girlfriend, it would be a non-issue.
When compared to straight guys, we've all had it "worse". There's no gold medal in this competition. Can we just accept that in general gay and lesbian players have had the least amount of options, but that ME 3 had potential for straight women to have it the worst?
There, done. Right?
Now, about those DA: I romances......

Yes.
I just want IB confirmed and I'm good. I'd like Solas as an extra but a confirmed IB would be great.
Yes, lesbians have always had less options than straight men in Bioware games (as have straight women and gay men). However, ME 3 isn't the best example since there are three f/f romances that unlock the romance achievement in ME 3 (more than straight women and gay men).
BG 2, SWTOR, or ME 2 are better examples for you to use.
What was the third? Kelly? Please. I would trade that for Traynor actually having significance or quality of Cortez's romance (in terms of dialogue time, scenes - Sam as the only one didn't have meet-up outside of the ship) anytime. And Liara remained "discount lesbian" option. After all the undermining things devs said to make people know that romance with Liara is not "truly" lesbian, they did nothing to counter that. While male Shepard can adress his sexuality in talk with Steve, female Shepard was forced again to flirt with a man.

Once again: "I don't like my options" does not equal "I didn't have options"
ME franchise in order of who got screwed over the most; Gay Men > Lesbians > Straight Women > Straight Men. I will not be swayed on this.
But straight women already got an extra option in DA2, the only demographic to get an extra, after being equal to straight men and favored over gays/lesbians in DA:O, so I'm not very moved by the suggestion that they should get another this time.
Viviv as a LI would annoy me, but Vivi not as a LI would infuriate me, why must it come to that ?
You have summed it up perfectly. I want Viv as a LI more than I don't want all the females to be LIs, but that doesn't make me not uncomfortable with it in the end.
K-Kelly Chambers? Be right back

Only winning move is not to play really. ![]()
(Really I know I'm going to be going "What exactly about him required him to be a male *sigh*")

Thank you! Though i feel that people who don't want to grasp this point, still won't ![]()
It's not that anyone wants anyone to have less/more options... ideally, everyone should have the same number. That is fair.
What isn't fair is this portrayal of women as all looking for love... and not just any love, but love with you mr./ms. Hero with the Glowy Hand... But meanwhile, men have better/more important things to worry about, and that's okay. I mean, you could see it as stereotyping men just as easily, if you want to...

I'm out of liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiikes! Garrus trumps all others
Though we are off topic...

All right... so the problem is Blackwall's gender or the like, not Vivienne being a LI.

I like love. I see nothing wrong with anyone seeking it.
Once again: "I don't like my options" does not equal "I didn't have options"
So, that's true for Sam. And I explained why she objectively was worse option than any other. It's not about liking. It's about having the least development, in terms of dialogues and scenes.
As for Kelly, they could also give achievement for 'romancing' that green Asari, that would be similar content.

Dagna doesn't want your love :v

What's also not fair is members of mistreated minority group being treated like that again. Like I said before, why do you guys not focus on the fact that there shouldn't be so little female companions on the first place, instead of wishing to take fun away from lesbian players?
How about instead of complaining about the amount of female characters you go play The Witcher? :v
I'm a bit lazy to read through 467 pages for now, and can't find a decent summary anywhere. If this isn't a crime, can a kind soul sum up for me, what are the 3 widely speculated remaining romance options, and specifics on whether they are gay or straight?
Also, what are the 2 widely speculated race-locked options?
Thank you for any help anyone can provide!
