Thank you!  Though i feel that people who don't want to grasp this point, still won't

It's not that anyone wants anyone to have less/more options... ideally, everyone should have the same number.  That is fair.

What isn't fair is this portrayal of women as all looking for love... and not just any love, but love with you mr./ms. Hero with the Glowy Hand... But meanwhile, men have better/more important things to worry about, and that's okay.  I mean, you could see at as stereotyping men just as easily, if you want to...

Aye.

Agreed. But I guess that ship has sailed for DAI. I'll just try to get my complaining hat on early for DA4 so hopefully all the females that weren't able to be romanced in previous games aren't romances again. Because yeah squick.

How about instead of complaining about the amount of female characters you go play The Witcher? :v

oooh so I can play a female Geralt now? Because if not...

So, that's true for Sam. And I explained why she objectively was worse option than any other. It's not about liking. It's about having the least development, in terms of dialogues and scenes.

As for Kelly, they could also give achievement for 'romancing' that green Asari, that would be similar content.

"Objective" =/= your opinion

female Shepard was forced again to flirt with a man.

Ugh... don't remind me.  As annoying as it was for my straight femShep to be all flirty with a male character I absolutely did not like, I can only imagine how annoying it was for lesbian players (or even players rp'ing as lesbian characters).  As I said, it's not that I want straight men/lesbian women to have less options.  Not at all.  It's just the fact that they would potentially (remember, all this is speculating over a hypothetical situation here) not include a single female character who is going to turn you down if you proposition her for sex or a relationship, regardless of her sexuality.  Except, again, Leliana, but that's only because she's potentially taken - again, not by some nebulous past love but by you, the player.

What's also not fair is members of mistreated minority group being treated like that again. Like I said before, why do you guys not focus on the fact that there shouldn't be so little female companions on the first place, instead of wishing to take fun away from lesbian players?

Because one of the male companions isn't suddenly going to transform into a woman, and we're not going to get another female companion unless its a secret companion.

It's not just the dudes collecting ladies bit that bothers me. It's the females being written as LIs period thing. We'll have at least 3 male companions who aren't written as LIs at all. With males with females not at all. They have other things to do. Yet we can't have one female that's the same?

The way I see it is no matter how many characters are potentially romance material for any Inq, only one in any playthrough is going to actually be the romance for your Inq. Like every other BioWare game (save Jade Empire) they won't put up with threesome shenanigans. Instead of thinking of it in a metagaming way, try to think of it in the way your character might: you are only interested in one person, thus only that person is into you if you play your cards right. Plus with the way the devs have hinted that the PC has to make all the moves it won't seem like all the women are throwing themselves at you or whatever. All the characters except the one you are wooing are going to "have other things to do", maybe even each other.

No, I actually counted the time of dialogues. And like I said, everyone else had meet-up scene on Citadel (I talk about vanilla game, not DLC) except for Samantha.

I think the issue is that Bioware already made a mistake putting in so few women. It just compounds the issue to also offer lesbians less romantic options. At that point, they've made questionable choices concerning two groups. My problem with Vivienne not being an LI is just that it adds to the representation problems. They made a mistake with the gender imbalance and I hope they correct it, but I don't want to create more problems around the issue.

I'm a bit lazy to read through 467 pages for now, and can't find a decent summary anywhere. If this isn't a crime, can a kind soul sum up for me, what are the 3 widely speculated remaining romance options, and specifics on whether they are gay or straight?

Also, what are the 2 widely speculated race-locked options?

Thank you for any help anyone can provide!

It's definitely some combination of Vivienne, Iron Bull, Varric, Blackwall, and Solas.

Iron Bull has a bunch of dev tweets and comments that suggest that he might be a romance, but no confirmation.  There's no evidence for any of the four really, so it's mostly just people putting their wish lists forward.

The best guesses for race gating are Iron Bull, Varric, and Vivienne, but it's all speculation.  It sounds like Solas is less likely to be race-gated going by his description.

Actually, that's pretty much exactly what I said, isn't it?  That the bigger issue is that we don't have an equal amount of male/female companions/advisers... thus creating this disparity of gender vs. people open to a relationship with our character.

Yeah this does nothing for me. I'm not coming from this in a IC position. I'm coming across it as me a female player feels about every single female character being a romance for some variation of the PC. It just bothers me.

Yes.

I just want IB confirmed and I'm good. I'd like Solas as an extra but a confirmed IB would be great.

Yea Solas too :P

Obviously they can't now. It was a mistake that they didn't think of the ratio early in development. I hope they correct it in future games.

Are you saying that the total time of dialogue for all lesbian romances was less than straight women and gay men?

Or are you saying that each of your three romances had less time of dialogue than the two straight female and two gay male options?

Or are you saying, "I don't like Liara and Samantha and Kelly had smaller romances so I think lesbians had it worse..."?

Regarding the 3 remaining options:

Iron Bull is extremely likely, since he has been teased by some devs and his descriptions and interview strongly suggest that he is a LI. He will most certainly be Bisexual in order to provide more equal number of options for male and female players of various sexualities. Popular consensus dictates that he will be race-gated.

Vivienne is likely because she would bring the number of female LIs equal to that of the male LIs. She will likely be bisexual for the same reasons as Bull. Some people think she will be race-gated.

The final LI will be male, since there are no female options left, and is a toss up between Blackwall, Solas, and Varric.  In order to make things equal, he will likely be bisexual.  For this reason, I doubt it will be Varric, so basically I think it is either Blackwall or Solas, with Solas having a slightly better chance since he is an elf.

Yes, this.  Like i said in the beginning, it's not a HUGE issue that all the gals are available... I just find it squicky.  Awkward.  Contrived.

Not giving straight males and, more importantly, (we can argue this point, but, since historically lesbian players have sadly gotten the short end of the stick way more than straight males) lesbian players as many quality options as everyone else is a bigger issue, I agree.  To be clear, I would prefer they make Viv an option, squick or no.

I could say Leliana is not available and she counts as part of the Inquisition, but you'd probably say she was available in a previous game. But she is a woman and she has no interest in any Inquisitor PC.

But I understand being frustrated with so few women existing in the party period.

Oh, please don't take my comments as anti-Varric!  I was just using him as an example, because we know enough about his character from the past games to be able to speculate - more easily than with the unknowns.  Even if I'm not interested in romancing Varric myself, he's a great character and I admit his Frostbite self is pretty shmexy  :)  And I can sympathize... I was rooting for the Solas romance back when only a handful of people thought he was cool... and the rest were playing hot potato with him hoping they wouldn't get stuck with him as a potential LI

The days when I would come in here saying I wanted a Solas romance and I'd basically get a "TAKE HIM!!! I DON'T WANT HIM!" from everyone  How times have changed!

Then again I feel sad for anyone getting onto the Solas boat late since his chances are still kind of slim. I feel bad for Varric and Blackwall lovers too, because basically we're all in that same boat. Even if Solas isn't in, I'll be happy for those who get who they wanted. But I still want Solas damnit
