I think what it comes down to is the fact that I think sometimes their differences are important enough to get in the way. Although, the blight and the breach do have a higher bar than DA2. I mean, in that one it's like, in the way of what? It's not even like there's a clear goal in mind. You're basically just going with whatever direction crazy people shove you in. If it were up to me, I'd have taken my deep roads money and got the hell out of there. lol

Kirkwall was such a sh*thole

Kirkwall, come for the refuge away from the Blight. Stay for the...uh? Active night life?

It's just killer.
Man I'd bounced from Kirkwall after all the remains if I could
at that point most of my Hawkes had every reason to leave and little to no reasons to stay.

That's pretty much how I felt at the beginning. Hawke had the skills of an elite mercenary, so I'm sure s/he could have found work away from templar city.

Especially true if you went into the Deep Roads with Carver/Bethany and Anders wasn't in your party

Or he could have just sold the estate for a decent amount
I picked right out of the deep roads because you've had plenty of time to see that the city is balls crazy and plenty of money to go basically anywhere else.

DA2 was a trail of tears. Which is probably why I liked it.
But yes. Kirkwall was and probably still is a terrible place to live.
What? Kirkwall was beautiful! I loved hangin' out in the slums by day and skipping over the dead bodies by night.
Another reason I'll be glad when the LIs are confirmed; less focus on speculating and defending possible LI status in character threads. It seems like lately a lot of the non-confirmed ones have been pretty romance dominated. It's mostly just suuuuper awkward if I really like the character, but don't want them as an LI. Like, uhhh, I'll just.. be over here, quietly.. not getting strung up for joining in on this one. lol

Yep.

Exactly. I could see if Hawke was a mage fearing for his/her safety cause Meredith's crazy ass would hunt him/her down (thus why I like mage Hawke more) but rogue/warrior Hawke? Dude why would you stay?

People kept throwing gold at Hawke to fix all their problems.

That's why I tread carefully in here, actually. ![]()
But people were posting about how glorious Kirkwall was, so it felt safe for once!

Not enough to put up with that bloodmage infested hell hole.
If I do side with one of them it's Miranda. I usually pick the renedouche option though because really they can do that crap on their own time. Jack does have a legitimate grievance yes, marching up to Miranda's room however (cause I highly doubt Miranda invited her there) and being threatening and aggressive was not acceptable. I'd kick Jack off the ship at that point if I could.
I maintain to this day that the true Renedouche option would have been for Shepard to insist that both of them sort it out through hate sex.

Don't worry, nobody is going to defend Kirkwall. lol

XD renedouche is a grade A troll so probably.
To get back on romance, I do hope the LI's in DAI have fewer issues than the ones in DA2. I mean, of the four non DLC characters, Isabella was the sanest.

I don't want them to be insane either. But I do want philosophical and personal conflict.
If not that, I'll probably end up conflicting with some myself anyways.
I liked Kirkwall, I just wish DA2's story was structured differently with after becoming the Champion of Kirkwall, we could go to other areas in the Free Marches such as Starkhaven and Tantervale. Then do stuff there, come back and defeat Meredith, so on. Seeing the same old stuff was tiresome.

Agreed, though she was, as Aveline so gracefully puts it, a ******

That's perspective but yeah, I think the LIs of DAI are 10x better than DA2's.
