Heh, we're not the only ones. There are enough people here who don't like playing the opposite gender.

 

Here is the irony... While I may have romanced Leliana with a female avatar, the way I viewed the relationship was through a hetrosexual lens. Other words, I psychologically ignored the factor that I was using a female avatar. My instincts as a male automatically chose a female lover. I didn't see my relationship with Leliana as being gay.

 

Why? Regardless about what virtual reality avatar I use, the physical reality of my existence is that I am a hetrosexual male. I will never use a male or female avatar to romance a guy.

 

When you play "Dragon Age" as a female/male, translate your relationships through the lens of your gender type. Remember, the avatar you choose is not physically real, for it does not have the ability to actually breath or feel.

 

Avatars are just digital polygons fused together. Once you rip apart the polygons, you will not find anything inside of them.

One guy alluded to wanting to be able to go that way, everyone else is trying to stop it in it tracks.  There's always someone who has to come in and say something weird/offensive/flammatory to try and ruin a very interesting conversation, but it is the BSN, I should expect it I guess.  We were having a very interesting and civil conversation about Asexuality before that...

Thats not the point, pressing 'esc'  does not remove the implied dialogue that follows.And Your character still had to do something you're uncomfortable with.

As far as I remember, in DAO you can not have sex with your LI, as well as have it at a later time. They would just need to bring that feature back.

So getting back on topic i think satisfaction in a non sexual way can be achieved. Just sitting talking hugging cuddling i mean this all warmth and great just being with another person knowing your not alone. I was in a long distance relationship for 3 years i mean there wasnt any sex happening there but i was happy lol.

Does nude hugging constitute smexytime? How do two asexuals affirm their relationship? Do they merely shake hands?

 

Do sexual people not consider themselves in a relationship until after they have sex? Say, you go out on dates and hold hands and hug and maybe even kiss. You talk to each other on the phone and send emails and blush when you see the person you like. And you're not seeing anyone else, but since you haven't actually committed a sexual act, you're not actually in a relationship. Just a rather elaborate mating dance instead? (Ignoring that not all asexuals feel the same way about each and every intimate act.)

 

They do it the same way a lot of romantic couples do it. They mutually acknowledge they're in a relationship with their special person.

And some of us don't even get a sexuality combination. While everyone else is bickering over 'they couldn't get their character because they are straight,gay,bi', there're a-sexual people like me whose characters get rejected in game..because we don't like smexytime.

Technical difficulties aside, I actually find the racial restriction quite intriguing. Depending how it is handled, it adds some subtle aspects and characterization to said character one is trying to romance, without having them being "playersexual". Different genders is not the only way to differentiate characters when it comes to romance.

My daughter is a lesbian, but she's also asexual. So, they do have preferences.

I for one would actually like to learn more about asexuality. I have an asexual friend but we don't really talk about it. She does have a boyfriend (who isn't asexual) and I know that they never engage in... you know, because it's not something that she's interested in. I also know that this causes friction between them, leading to a fair few arguments.
