His VA was announced at GaymerX, and DG and other members from BW's staff are doing romance panels while they are there. So that's where the assumption is coming from is my best guess.
I hope he's an LI also, along with IB

For those who want to romance Dorian as straight and romance Cullen as gay, let's supposed that they're both new characters (meaning no history with the Grey Warden), would you have prefer the gender were the other way around? The implication would be that both options for either straight or gay would be companions or one would be an NPC.
I'm not familiar with that term; could you please elaborate on it's definition?
Gynasexual: Attracted to feminine traits
Heretrosexual: Attracted to the opposite gender
Gynahetrosexual: Attracted to the opposite gender that shows feminine traits
Cisgender: Where ones body, mind, and orientation, are the same
Type A: Personality
Or hell use they. It's two freaking extra letters. It's going on 2 pages now *sigh*
Xil has successfully distracted from the fact that aside from using 'it' when he should have said 'they', JB had her on the ropes as far as his arguments went.
Solas is starting to grow on me. He's still doesn't do much for me physically, but his personality sounds amazing. I know a bunch of people have been hoping to get into those tight pants for a while, so it would be nice for them.
I just hope that IB is the other guy. I've a need for some bedroom mayhem in this game.

Sounds about right
Except I was speaking in the singular and "their" applies to plural. "It" is not a slur if not meant as denial of one's persona which it wasn't.
Argh, whatever.
There is a shift towards using "their" as a singular in British English these days (I like to think it represents our inherent multiplicity). The issue with "it" is that it basically is a denial of someone's personhood because that's how the word has historically been used within the English language. Now, if you want to reclaim "it" as a neutral gender-neutral pronounce, go ahead, but you a rent going to be able to erase its historic usage, which is to refer exclusively to objects and animals, and never to people.

Thank you; I'm familiar with the term cisgender but I hadn't seen gyna/gynehetrosexual before.
You can ask yourself a question without having to pursue a romance, a frienship path for instance would have great potential. I'not advocating the option for the player to harass a trans NPC, but just reject a romance. Discomfort is not all black or all white, you can totally be ok around a trans and yet not wanting to have sex with them.
The point was from the beginning that they initially want that with said character, until revelation about trans status.

Also agreed. Mayhem and dreaming I'd be happy. Got all three guys I wanted :3

Just did some research on his VA - he played a bisexual character on Torchwood...so I'm really interested in seeing him be a romance.

I'm sorry. I'm not quite sure what you are asking.
I personally dislike using the singular "they" just because it's bad grammar. Usually I'll default to the gender neutral "he" (yes it is a thing) when I'm trying not to denote a specific gender, but that's just me. Regardless, this really is more of a grammar debate than a romance debate
Defaulting to he is problematic. I'd much rather use they, even if it's supposedly grammatically incorrect (which I don't actually believe). Even if the strictest interpretation of "they" is plural, in practice it's used often to refer to a singular person of unspecified gender. I also think that avoiding offending people and furthering maleness/masculinity as the default is more important than having perfectly strict grammar.

If I had to choose between Cullen and Dorian, I'd take Dorian every single time. Cullen is physically very attractive to me. Tall, blonde, masculine. However, he's got a pretty crappy personality in my opinion (sorry for those who like him). He's aggressive, emotional, and has shown some pretty intolerant attitudes.
Dorian, on the other hand, sounds delightful. Dashing is always an amazing trait in a companion.
Dare I say the grammar debate is quite pointless?
It was a smokescreen.
Rather successful one, at that.

Honestly, most of these terms sound just made up, cisgender for example is just being born normal, with no discrepancies between your physical and mental traits. Don't see why we need to come up with all these new terms when half of them are highly redundant and not used outside of tumblr.
All I wanted to know is will we get a male straight romance for female characters, and to do it I had to jump through all that linguistic hoops just to convey the message in a "politically correct" manner.
So troublesome. ![]()

So? There are a LOT of things that could potentially turn me off someone I initially found attractive. Contrary to popular belief, first impressions aren't everything.

ELU! Have you not seen Torchwood? You need to Netflix it now. As a Gay Geek, it's your duty to swoon over Jack and Iago. Go now!

Ummmm.....oops?
I know it doesn't prove that Solas is a LI interest, but announcing his voice actor (who played a popular bisexual character in a show) at GaymerX seems pretty suspect. If he isn't a love interest that seems like an awful tease, they could easily announce his VA elsewhere if he's not romanceable.

That's a big roadblock for me. His look just doesn't work. He sounds cool, though, so I hope he has a friendship path that's worthwhile if he's an LI.
Edit: It's really his being bald, to be honest. A bald look on men just doesn't work for me. At least, for the type of guys I like.

Cullen will be the straight male LI. Right now it's looking like Solas and Iron Bull will be bisexual.

If the reality doesn't live up to the expectation, it's only normal to back down.
