The paramour achievement is unlocked for Liara in her DLC, is it not?
No, it didn't. (I know this because I still haven't unlocked that achievement--my last one to get for ME2--and I have a Liara LI playthrough.)

We should also remember, David Gaider said things wouldn't be equal for everyone, as romances are not "candy to be evenly distributed"
Didn't he say it in reference to race, not gender/sexuality, actually pointing out how the latter matters?

But I still think Liara was a romance in ME2, per DLC.
She technically does. Though... Citadel DLC in ME3 sort of explores a bit more of it. It never counts as a proper romance, from a gameplay perspective, but...
Ah, see I never saw the Samara Citadel content. Thank you, now I have something new to look into :3
If Cass, Cullen, Sera and Dorian were some form of candy, what would they be?
If Blackwall is voiced by Neeson (which would be awesome) it would kill any desire I have to romance him since I've played FO3 to a point where I hear him speaking and just think of James now xD
Watch the Lego Movie a few times and that'll fix that for you. The thinking of James but, not the being unable to romance Blackwall because of it. You'll be unable to keep a straight face every time he speaks instead.
That's not as bad as it seems, really, given the advisers. As their budget has been just as high as that of the companions, and since Cole is more of a genderless spirit inhabiting a male corpse, the ratio is more like 6:5.
Where does it say he is possessing a corpse?

Well, damn. You're right. I just looked it up and it does. Well, then I take it back. ME 2 has 7 romances (4 females and 3 males). I learn something new every day.
Count me as one of those people that said that and I'm still eating my words. So it's probably best to assume nothing about the romances past the idea that every orientation getting at least two choices. Anything else could be setting us up for failure.
This was me after the 6:3 gender split was confirmed:

RIP Uncle Phil!
So before Mass Effect, Bioware games didn't have romances at all? What purpose does that criteria serve.
Because they have it now? So it takes all question away about who is a romance in the games since ME? If a character doesn't unlock the romance achievement, then they're not a romance. Obviously it can't be used for the games before achievements. Hence the Juhani debate (Is she or isn't she a "full romance"?)
If I had my actual preferences, the final three would be Blackwall, Varric, and Vivienne. I have no desire to romance either Solas or IB and expect my f!Inquisitors to bounce between advisers as LIs.
Elaborate, because I can't see how being unfair to lesbian players is good.
I think what the poster is saying is that what matters is the quality of the content produced for the LI should be good. Not how many LI there are, but that is just how I read the post.
Edit: Having say six options towards one PC does not seem to matter if the romances do not have any quality or much content to them. Just my opinion.

It doesn't. He's a spirit that can manifest a body.
If Cass, Cullen, Sera and Dorian were some form of candy, what would they be?
Cassandra - Peanut Brittle
Cullen - Smooth chocolate Bar
Dorian - cheesecake, because he doesn't play by the rules
I don't think Blackwall is married, but his sense of duty to the Grey Wardens cause has a possibilty to take him out the LI spot
Well I never said he was married. But it would be neat if we had a non-romanceable companion who was already married.

That's what I thought.

Each romance has apparently the same budget, so theoretically quality of each content should be equally good. So now comes to play the number of those options.

I may have to romance Vivienne if possible just to see what's under that headgear she wears.
This is all getting so complicated... it's making my head spin.
Basically, at this point, straight women and gay men are the only ones who don't have two LIs. That means that one of the slots should either go to an unrestricted bi male, or two slots should go to two bi males with restrictions that add up to 1 unrestricted LI.
I mean, unless I am completely misunderstanding David and they actually would be okay with with a couple of specific race/gender/sexuality combinations only having a single LI available to them. Given the sheer number of romances available, however, that seems really easy to avoid.
Ah, see I never saw the Samara Citadel content. Thank you, now I have something new to look into :3
No problem. I actually didn't realize myself until I stumbled upon some youtube videos.

Oh? Interesting. Either way, though, Cole still appears to be genderless. Unless there's something we don't yet know.

Yeah, he is technically genderless, but he manifests the form of the boy whose identity he took, hence our use of the pronoun "he".
Well, then. Judging from the predicted LIs for straight male, I guess i wont have an LI yet again just like in DA2 ![]()
Really dissappointing(for me anyways).
I would say the final 3 are viv, varric, blackwall. But if viv is not a option oh well still get two options.

What if she leaves the hat on? lol
