Well, then. Judging from the predicted LIs for straight male, I guess i wont have an LI yet again just like in DA2 :(

Really dissappointing(for me anyways).

You don't like Cassandra or Josephine?

Basically, at this point, straight women and gay men are the only ones who don't have two LIs. That means that one of the slots should either go to an unrestricted bi male, or two slots should go to two bi males with restrictions that add up to 1 unrestricted LI.

I mean, unless I am completely misunderstanding David and they actually would be okay with with a couple of specific race/gender/sexuality combinations only having a single LI available to them. Given the sheer number of romances available, however, that seems really easy to avoid.

I tend to agree with you.  David was pretty clear that it's important for people to get choice, so I would be very, very surprised if every race/gender/sexuality combination doesn't get two options.  I think the race-gated options will be additional options beyond those for a few race/gender/sexuality combinations.

You can't find anything appealing about Cassandra, Josephine or Vivienne?

As much as I'm disinclined to be excited about Cullen or IB, I love Greg Ellis' voice work and I think IB will be fun to have around. I can't imagine that, with what little we actually know, totally stonewalling any option at this point.

So another round of predictions:

Straight

Cassandra

Cullen

Gay

Dorian

Sera

Bisexual

Josephine

Solas

Iron Bull

Vivienne

With IB and Viv gated.

That's what I thought and is probably the most likely Scenario.

Someone told me Cole refers to himself as a he, which suggests a gender.

It could be considered 7:5 then, which still isn't as bad as 6:3.

I may have to romance Vivienne if possible just to see what's under that headgear she wears.

i bet its another head but a small one like a twin attached to her  :wizard:

Each romance has apparently the same budget, so theoretically quality of each content should be equally good. So now comes to play the number of those options.

In this case, true, and I agree more options is always nice to have just in case you do not find one particular LI to your liking. I was only mentioning what I thought the poster was trying to say in that the amount of LI is not the only thing that should be looked at and as what is being said by the devs it is a possibility that not everyone will have an equal amount of options for their specific race/gender. I do hope though that things are equal as they can get so as many people will be satisfied with who they have as an option.

Edit: I hope even more though that the quality of the romances for each preference (gender, race orientation, etc.) is more equal as I see it worse for someone with a certain PC getting romances that are available to them with worse quality than the others.

Yeah, he is technically genderless, but he manifests the form of the boy whose identity he took, hence our use of the pronoun "he".

Did we recently get this confirmed? Last I saw this was one of the prevailing theories, but we had no proof either way.

It's very possible the spirit could be possessing the body of Cole, yet the body still being alive. (similar to how Wynne was)

Although I personally don't believe the corpse possession theory, namely because of the evidence stacked against it (need for eating & sleeping, lack of rotting after over a year, etc.)

Well I never said he was married. But it would be neat if we had a non-romanceable companion who was already married.

What is it you are looking for?

Well, only until people make it a slur. There is nothing inherently wrong with the word "it" until people use their own imagination to give it a connotation.

This is true and it's why someone like me still gets referred to as white, while disadvantaged groups have their identifiers changed because they often evolve into slurs.

The solution to this is to make them no longer disadvantaged.

And it's not the position of the empowered group to determine what is or is not acceptable in a case like this.

I got caught with this once myself, and my initial reaction was ultra-defensive too, because I knew I didn't intend to be offensive.  It was when I used a three letter short form for Japanese, in the context of sharing a large After Action Report of a WW2 video game I was playing.  I used it a lot (to run counter with US, and I didn't want to write out Japanese a lot just like I didn't want to write out American a lot), and someone said "hey man that's offensive."

My initial response was to go "Hey man.... I didn't know it was.  And because of that, you shouldn't take it offensively because that wasn't the intent."  I tried to twist it around like I was the one being picked on (without really realizing it).  When the reality was, all I needed to do was say "Oops, I didn't realize" and stop doing it.  Because if someone says "Hey man, I find the term you're using unpleasant" I have a decision to make: "Do I want to continue using this word knowing it makes someone feel unpleasant?"  If so, why?

Because if your motivation is "because I want to keep using that word because I think it's the best word for it" you're saying "it's more important to me to be able to use that word to describe you than how that word makes you feel."  In some cases it's maybe appropriate (i.e. referring to someone that committed a murder as a murderer), but in the case of sexuality or race, I am less insistent on using words because I feel the reasoning behind doing so is rather selfish and unnecessary.

Unless I perceive a consensus among trans people that they are cool with the term "it," I see no reason to use it if people tell me that they find the term uncomfortable.  Nor do I feel that I can tell them that they shouldn't feel uncomfortable by it because that's just my privilege... I don't have the experience and negative connotations associated with it.  It's why I stopped using the term "gay" when I meant something is absurd.

Watch the Lego Movie a few times and that'll fix that for you. The thinking of James but, not the being unable to romance Blackwall because of it. You'll be unable to keep a straight face every time he speaks instead.

Have yet to see that movie but I'll give it a try if it helps me from softly going 'daddy no ;n;' every time I hear him talk x3 I really got attached to James Neeson daddy in that game real fast.

It's impossible now anyway, instead, is seems that androsexuals could get 5 romances (4 of which would be companions), while gynosexuals, only 3 (and only 2 companions).

I'm so glad I wasn't interested in gender-bending for romance content back then.

I'm still going to assume all genders and sexualities get equal options until they say otherwise. I think a couple races will get 2 and most people will get 3. It's possible not, but I'm going to stay optimistic this is the case.

...what matters is the quality of the content produced for the LI should be good. Not how many LI there are, but that is just how I read the post.

Edit: Having say six options towards one PC does not seem to matter if the romances do not have any quality or much content to them. Just my opinion.

You got it.

If the romance is written well into the character arc (of both the main character and the love interest), and for bonus points is meaningful to the overall story of the game, this is good. If it makes sense with how the character is presented, this is good. Anders was a good bisexual romance because the writers in both his games went out of their way to make it shown that he was interested in both men and women, and romancing him had an affect on his character arc throughout the game. The Merril bisexual romance was bad, since the two were just copypastes of each other, and no two romances should ever be like that.

Each romance has apparently the same budget, so theoretically quality of each content should be equally good. So now comes to play the number of those options.

"Theory". If they're just trying to make 'X' number of romances, there will always be throwaway ones. They should make them interesting and distinct. Race, gender, sexuality... whatever works best. Numbers should be irrelevant. If they decide none of their characters in DA4 make for interesting romance, don't have any. If you don't like the options presented for you "Insert-Self-MainCharacter" run, roleplay as someone else next time.

Just remember that the key word in your post is "could".  Yes, it could be a 5/3 split.  It could also be a 4/4 split.  I guess we'll just have to wait until they announce the last three LI's before we know if it makes sense for straight guys and lesbians to complain about getting less options.

She was married to Donnic in Act 3.
