It's a panel at Gaymer X. There's a thread in the Scuttlebut forums all about the convention.

Probably important to remember that Gaymer X isn't about Dragon Age Inquisition or announcing new love interests. Best to just enjoy the show and not to get our hopes up too much, I think.

but still get them up just a little bit. just a really, really tiny amount. and cross your fingers just to increase our chances.

I live in the east coast and it won't be going on until 6:30 pm here so people in the west coast who will know at 3:30 pm better keep the rest of us posted if any new love interests are announced lol

Cass and Cullen were announced as LI during PAX.

If romances are announced, it'll probably be everywhere and character thread makers likely will tag them in the subject line, like they have been doing with news. So, I wouldn't worry about missing them. lol

Yesssss, I'm not saying no one will be announced, just that it'd better to be cautious than to assume we'll get something considering how much information we've got over the past few days. Of course I want info as much as everyone else, but I'd rather not watch all your hopeful little hearts break if we get nothing.  :P

It's always best to be cautious of assuming anything when it comes to the DA team.  Most of the time when I have, it's come back to bite me in the ass later.  ;)

I know they may not announce the LIs today, but I like to stay optimistic while I can. I don't really get more disappointed either way, so I might as well be happy while I can. lol

Same, after GaymerX I'll have IRL shenanigans to worry about anyway, so I'll have other things in my mind than counting days :P

Yeah, I'll be really disappointed if one of them is an extra straight option. They have a clear opportunity to do an even number with 8 LIs. I'm really hopeful it will come out even.

They also had the clear opportunity of making Cassandra and Cullen bisexuals and they didn't...

If among the potential LIs left none of them fits to be bisexual, they simply won't be...and it's the not the fans who decide who is bisexual and who isn't.

It's fair to create straight characters, because there are gay and lesbian characters as well. And the devs always said they want to be inclusive. But it'd be definitely NOT fair, if there are more straight characters than gay and lesbian characters in the final game. And I think, Bioware knows this. I understand, that they can't give everyone the same amount of options with race gating. But at least when it comes to gender and sexuality gating they should give all people comparable options. Otherwise it'd be s step backwards from DA2, wehre all groups got 2 options (if you ignore Sebastian).

I think I speak for many people if I say, that we don't want the same groups to get more options all over again....and again...and again.

Probably for the same reasons that the world is not exclusive made of bisexual people.

well, in the real world, there aren't dragons, mages, qunaris, elves, dwarfs and many other things as well...and besides that, a group of 9 people doesn't allow statistical statements. You'd need at least 30 people to give correct analyses. Even if the world has only 5% of bisexual people you can still slid into a group of 9 people where 8 are bisexual. This wouldn't chance the distribution of the population.

Small groups are never informative for the whole population.

If there were one more bisexual love interest and two more straight ones, it would mean that there would be four straight LIs and four LGB ones in total. This would mean that straight PCs got three options while gay PCs only got two, so it would not be balanced in that sense, but the central characters in Inquisition would not be more than 50% straight. (Even if if the two who aren't love interests were straight, there's still Leliana on Team Bisexual and Cole who doesn't count at all.)

Don't get me wrong, I would strongly prefer for there to be four bisexual romances and think that's the fair way of doing things. But it's possible that BioWare is thinking of balance and fairness is the sense of the number of LGB characters in the main cast, not in the number of characters available for any given player to romance.

Gee... I don't know?  What makes me not fit to be bisexual?  I'm educated, open-minded, strongly believe in marriage equality and challenging established gender roles.  I find women aesthetically beautiful, but am not sexually attracted to them.  Sorry, not attacking you personally, I've just seen this on the threads a lot, and it's been kind of bugging me.  Just as your personality/background doesn't determine whether you're gay/bi or not, it's just the way you're born, the same can be said of people who are straight.  Not that I would have been hugely bothered if everyone in Inquisition were bi for the sake of giving everyone options, to put gay romances in the game but then not include straight ones isn't exactly inclusive either.

Edit:  Just for the record, I like the idea of 2/4/2, with there being 4 bi options.  Sure, it's a contrived ratio, but it gives everyone at least three options to pick from (Assuming you only play as your own gender/sexuality) and includes a couple examples of straight/gay characters for the sake of being inclusive.

That's not what I meant at all.

People in real life aren't all bisexual because it's not about picking what you are. You are either attracted to people of both sex or attracted to a single sex. When the writers design the characters, which is done before selecting the LIs, they decide what they are attracted to. End of story.

Yes, but I just hope it's about romances. To be honest, it gets really anoying if straight people always get additional options. Nobody would get the idea that there were additional gay or lesbian characters instead of straight ones. That's why I hope, they'll make the remaining romanceable characters bisexual. We'll never get more options than straight people, We don't even dream about it. But it'd be nice, if we'll get at least the same amount of options.

I'm confused as to why people keep saying "What reason did they have to not make them bi?" about the straight characters. It's happened with the gay characters too but to a far lesser degree, it's almost like people have a problem with characters being straight.

Anyone said there shoudln't be straigth options? I referred to words that there would be nothing wrong if there were more straight romances, because apparently the characters just "didn't fit" as bisexuals. So I'm curious what personality trait could make them only fit as straight.

For the vast majority of gaming history, "straight" has translated into "exclusionary" and meant that anyone who isn't heterosexual will get left in the dust. It's not necessarily true in this case, but the association will take time to leave. Heck, many still want DA2's system back.

I've seen this said mostly about Cassandra, then Sera, hardly anything about Dorian or Cullen.

I saw this mostly about Dorian. But I believe it's all the same. people get furious, because they don't get the character who they wanted.

no matter if straight or gay.
