Oh, there's been a bevy of complaints from straight guys about how her jaw is "too large" and she looks "too manly" and therefore "ugly."  We've had many threads and far too many posts over it.

Well, there you have it people. I'm a straight guy and I find Cassandra incredibly attractive, so we (straight guys) are not all the same  :)

I'm not too upset about it. I was only half expecting reveals today. It seems like they do plan to release more somewhat soon. I know a couple devs have said the LIs would probably be out before release, so I'm happy enough thinking that's true. It's frustrating, but I realize we do sometimes build up our own expectation of release based on nothing they actually said.

Yeah, I love that period in Europe. Not just the Revolution, but the music, the birth of modern science, and the crazy lives of libertines. But yeah, a female assassin in France specifically would have been cool.

sigh. I would have loved some missions at Versailles court, disguised as a courtesan, (hoping for DAI and the Orlesian part of the game  ) so many great and interesting thing a female assassin in that period would have made...

but no. the usual male. (and with the same face. shouldn't now stop, without Desmond? I stopped playng with Revelations, since I didn't cared anymore about the historical periods of the last ACs...)

can't understand all those people criticising Cass look. she is beautiful. I love her look. I'm just a little scared I'll end up as in DA2, where my first Hawke was almost identical...(but this time with pointed ears)

Trust me, there have been a fair amount of straight guys that are happy with Cassandra, and also have been kind towards the lesbian and bisexual ladies that wanted her as a f/f romance.

There has just been some jackass that are very loud and persistent, and are like a broken record.  It's been happening a lot lately, but hey, that's any forum sometimes.  I can't and won't speak for everyone in the LGBT community, but I know that they don't represent all straight men.  <hugs>

Oh, I know.

Others find it unacceptably outside the bounds of their preferred aesthetic and have asked BW numerous times to "fix" her.

"fix" her? That sounds disrespectful towards those who designed her. Cassandra is fine the way she is  B)

There has been some interesting ideas of "fixing" floating around the forums.  Some of it has been uncomfortable to read and see.    Thank goodness this is by and large a minority on the forums.  Just a really obnoxious one.

I liked Bioware fans more when it was mostly carryovers from D&D and fantasy readers. It seems like a lot of people since are just random rednecks who buy their games in Wal-Mart.

I'm sure someone will get annoyed at how unfair this is. I know it is. It's just easier to write people off this way.

Definitely, I said this to someone earlier, but I'm a poet, if someone were to take one of my pieces and change it because they thought it sounded better I would be horrifed as I expect most would.  People can't seem to grasp this very well.

Some people find it "too manly". Because as we all know, there can only be one standard of beauty...

They complained about the same with Aveline back in the day

Even Isabella was considered "too manly" when the first trailer came out if I recall correctly.

But their opinions were selfish. They wanted Cassandra to look a certain way based on their own tastes, rather than appreciating the beauty she already exhibited.

Out of the women this time, I think Vivienne is the most attractive, but that's also largely because I don't like Cassandra and Sera's personalities much. And Sera's voice.. I can't.  :(

The only time I've thought about romancing a female character was Morrigan. I liked Leliana and Merrill, too, and Isabela was tied for BFF with Varric in DA2, but Morrigan was the only one that almost convinced me to do a hetero run. I like her witty banter, but it's also cute when one of the others gets the best of her, like Alistair saying she has her mother's nose or Zevran plying her with compliments on a bet. I had to ignore her kind of stupid strategic advice, though.  lol

Seconded.  Some I find more personally attractive than others, but they truly made a striking cast of lovely ladies this time around.   :)

Er, most of the posters, at least the ones I know, are just that.  They are D&D and fantasy readers that fell in love with DA.  Many of whom grew up playing RPGs.

Count me into that; I didn't really start posting until last November, and I didn't play the DA games until Jan of 2013.  I was a little late to the party.  Anyhow, there is just a lot more idiots with the internet that are making a big stink.  Trust me, it would still be there no matter what, on a smaller scale.

And hey, it's not all bad.  Some of the newer members are pretty damned cool if you ask me, and many of them have either loved fantasy books and/or games for years now.  Try not to judge everyone based on some bad apples.   ;)

I'm of two minds here... I'm currently wallowing in disappointment over a mustache and now possibly a bald head, but to me that's different than telling the artists that they messed up a character's face. I mean for example Bull has not exactly a traditionally handsome face and I wouldn't mind him being better looking but I'm totally cool with him as he is.

So in short I think it's totally okay to not find Cass attractive, but there's no need to be obnoxious about it and go on about "fixing" her. She's not broken.

Oh, I'm not saying it doesn't exist anymore. And it doesn't matter if they're new posters or not. You know them when you see them.

It just sometimes feels like a party with two entirely different groups. Like a wedding :D

Yes, on both counts.  You are correct.  It was a mess whirlwind at the time back then as well, for quite similar reasons.
