I mean for example Bull has not exactly a traditionally handsome face and I wouldn't mind him being better looking but I'm totally cool with him as he is.
I liked the concept art better where he just had his eye closed Berserk, Guts style.

Definitely, I said this to someone earlier, but I'm a poet, if someone were to take one of my pieces and change it because they thought it sounded better I would be horrifed as I expect most would. People can't seem to grasp this very well.
I agree. It's best for someone to not judge artists for what they do with their stuff. I mean it's ok to make different versions of something, but the original version should always be respected.
I don't know, some of these "fixing" posts are starting to make me sick.
It's a jackass thing to post and pretty much say to the forums:
"Well, despite the months of work, overtime and love that got put into this character, we need to fix her face. She's got a really mannish jaw, and I think she looks ugly now.
In the meantime, I'm going to make as many hurtful remarks towards the character and towards her fans as possible. It's just my opinion lol, and they need to deal with the fact she's ugly to me. She needs fixin'!
Also, c'mon, it isn't like the devs and art team actually have feelings. They won't get hurt if I crap all over their hard work."
Disagreeing with an art direction and finding a character not to your taste is fine. Hey, Vivienne isn't too my taste, simply because I find her style a little too flashy on first impression. That's just my opinion, and I would never tell the mods to fix her. She's fine the way she is, and I am curious about her character.
Now, declaring that a woman has a "man jaw" and needing to be fixed, or wanting to mod away a mustache/whitewash Dorian is being a rude and insensitive jerk (not to mention other things.) That's the difference.
I never run out of likes. I thought it was a joke from a people at first.
Hahaha, so did I...until it happened
it's clear that you don't like things enough
...so try harder!
As for the likes/dislikes of character appearance, I think there's a stark difference between expressing mild disappointment that none of this batch of characters is exactly to your taste or, even less abrasive, just saying one or two aren't, as opposed to expecting the artists to actually change those characters for your specific whims. I don't think there's anything wrong with saying you don't like facial hair or you like longer hair on women, if you're saying it in a respectful way that acknowledges it's just your personal opinion. Making multiple threads demanding the devs change a character, calling your taste universal and implying the character is an insult to you is borderline insane.
Out of the women this time, I think Vivienne is the most attractive, but that's also largely because I don't like Cassandra and Sera's personalities much. And Sera's voice.. I can't.
The only time I've thought about romancing a female character was Morrigan. I liked Leliana and Merrill, too, and Isabela was tied for BFF with Varric in DA2, but Morrigan was the only one that almost convinced me to do a hetero run. I like her witty banter, but it's also cute when one of the others gets the best of her, like Alistair saying she has her mother's nose or Zevran plying her with compliments on a bet. I had to ignore her kind of stupid strategic advice, though. lol
I actually rolled a male warden to romance Morrigan. It was probably my favorite DAO romance (although I undercut it by not sending him through the Eluvian with her and their OGB). However, I don't think it's that much better than her friendship path with the female warden (I have no idea how a male friendship progresses, though).

Yeah, people think too much like consumers in this respect.. but that's only half the story. It's also art and entertainment. Stay in your own ****** space, as an audience. You can dislike art, but you can't change it. Just like someone said above about being a poet. If someone told me how to play my guitar, I'd be tempted to use my guitar as a weapon.
It seems like people who say these things have never created a damn thing in their lives. Else they'd understand this already.
True but no need to call people a jackass just cause you disagree.
They aren't jackasses because they have a different opinion. They are jackasses because of the way they voice their opinion. By being rude and demanding things in a nonconstructive way.

I'm taking a class for it right now. I'm certainly not expecting it to be easy. So, yeah. Completely agree. Especially since I'm a poet. XD

I tried Morrigan with a female character, and I found it difficult to like her. I mean, I totally understand why some female gamers wanted to slap her face.

Oddly enough I actually preferred the friendship path with Morrigan over the romance path. Fem warden is my canon and I enjoyed the friendship she had with my female warden over my one and only male warden. Dunno, just felt she made a better pal than a romance IMO.
*like* for Mr Magic and a *like* for Ynqve...
Edit: Woohoo I got an extra like! Next one I'll give to you Ynqve ![]()

She and Alistair were tied for BFF in DA:O. It seems like tradition now for me to have one male and one female best friend character. Maybe Vivienne and Varric again this time. XD
I don't know how it compares to the female friendship path, but I thought it was nice. She has a pretty touching speech at the end about how she never expected to find friendship with a man.

As a fellow guitar player I couldn't agree more.
I tried Morrigan with a female character, and I found it difficult to like her. I mean, I totally understand why some female gamers wanted to slap her face.
I had tried both and... It's really difficult to like her. Though I can't speak for a female's opinion on her, a male'so pinion is that... She followed Alistair's statement *Cough*
I disagreed with her view points and for the most part just didn't enjoy her.

I agreed with you up until this point; I don't think wanting to add or remove facial hair is quite the same as wanting to completely alter a character's ethnicity ![]()
I mean people pick different Hawke's to get a certain Bethany or Carver, and there's nothing wrong with facepalming and going, oh crap I got the ugly Bethany/Carver/Leandra this time around
DO OVER!

Well, with the romance part with a male charater, and since she is attracted to you, you could see a part of her that is very nice. With a female character, I didn't see any of this. I played a female character who dated Alistair. Morrigan was annoying, she was snarky about my relationship with alistair, she contested all my decisions,
I'm just surprised with the friendship pace with Morrigan and how people are happy with it. When does it happen exactly ?

You monster. Carver/Bethany/Leandra look fantastic however they look when you start the game without your need of 'restarting' and 'fixing' them. ![]()
I had two Wardens, both male. One liked Morirgan and one didn't like her
I like playing different characters I guess. On a personal level, separate from my characters, I think she's pretty well-written but not exactly my favorite character.

I think either way it's still stating that the art team failed. I think that going, "Oops, the Hawkes turned out a little weird after the CC," is different than, "I'm changing this character's face all together."
While I'll admit that one is much worse than the other, and I'm sorry if I implied as such, it largely comes off as the same dismissal to me.
Don't get me wrong, I do use mods for the companions. However, it's all been armor; adding a little pattern to Isabela's corset (no, I didn't put pants on her,) giving Aveline some actual armor for the Lothering prologue, ect. I just feel it's kinda wrong to mod their faces.

Sometimes I would get, say, an ugly Carver but it was okay because I was playing a rogue so that sucker was ogre-meat anyway ![]()
My theory is that while things may skew unevenly for certain race/gender combos, everyone will still have at least two options, with human characters having All The Options since humans are the most common. This means that there probably will not be two characters of the same gender who are race-gated, since it would probably result in one group getting only one option. It also means that the remaining LIs are all bisexual.
My theory may be completely wrong. It's just a theory.
Right, I'm pretty sure Vivienne is going to be an option so that there will be an even number of LIs for all genders/orientations. Most likely she'll be bisexual, and she'll probably be race-gated due to her love of power (Cassandra being the first character to appear, she's unlikely to be race-gated).
As for the guys, I am thinking Iron Bull and a toss-up between the three others.
Varric - In his favor, he's probably the first male character we pick up. Usually the first two are romances. Against him, Iron Bull will almost certainly be race-gated, and Varric has expressed that he is not into humans. He might even go so far as to be dwarf-only. He's also probably straight, which would reduce options for gay/bisexual male characters. Also against his favor, Cullen is already a confirmed romance returning from previous games. Would they do two returning characters as romance, particularly when both are male? Still, he's an option and there are likely people on the dev team who wanted it.
Blackwall - I don't really know much about him. He seems to be mid- to late-40s, to me, but beards make men look older. This is not too old for romance, contrary to some opinions, but what may work against him is that he reminds a whole lot of people of their fathers. Still, that wouldn't stop the devs. He's got a noble personality. He might be too interested in doing good, and self-sacrifice, to do a romance. Otherwise, really I have nothing for him and nothing against him. No evidence either way besides the devs' "soon," which just as likely meant that players would know one way or another "soon," rather than that he will be a romance "soon."
Solas - The only male elf. Elves have traditionally been romances in Dragon Age games, which may work against him rather than for him if they want to break the mold. His VA was just announced, though this could easily have been to smooth things over for when he is NOT announced as a romance. He is said to be "open-minded," which could lead into his being a bisexual romance, but with his focus on the Fade, he may be asexual or too busy to be a romance. In his favor, his VA is apparently well known for playing a bisexual character on the show Torchwood. This may or may not have had something to do with David Gaider's preference for that voice actor to play him. And yet on the other hand, would Patrick Weekes have written two romances, assuming Iron Bull is one?
So yeah. For me it's a tossup between the last three males, with Vivienne being all but a certainty.

That's cool; to each his/her own ^^
I don't feel too bad criticizing (in a not-rude fashion) their appearances since they are being produced for commercial value... as a consumer I think it's totally okay to say "I don't really like this."
There are people who give Anders hair that more resembles his DAA hair, and they give him an earring, too. I don't think those people are fanatical jerks for doing that.
