I don't see sera or dorian rejecting any race, idem for cass and cullen, they are restrictive enough by being straight/gay Love interests

 

We don't truly know everything about Sera and Dorian, Cullen could in-fact be race-gated for story reasons and so could Cass

Cassandra, Cullen, Josephine, Dorian, Sera, and now Iron Bull for confirmed romances.  That's 6 out of 8 stated romantic interests.  So the last 2 are the race gated ones, correct?

 

That'd be my thought. That or they just haven't announced that one of the previous mentioned romances also has a race preference.

 

The only ones who make sense race-gated are Varric and Vivienne.

 

Oddly enough this was my thought. But then I couldn't think of why I thought Vivienne would be race gated or what race she would be gated against. Any ideas?

The devs said during the Raptr Q&A that ONLY two were race-gated and now David is saying that the last two are those exact two, right?

 

No. He is saying that two of them are gated. We know of two that are not gated (Josephine and Iron Bull). There are two more love interests in the game that aren't announced.

So damn, who could be race gated other than Varric? Vivienne? I think the last bi romance will be Vivienne who will be race gated to only Humans and Elves. I think Varric will still be an LI but race gated only for female dwarfs.

It could be a status thing.  She might consider other races not attractive.  Just some of my personal guesses:

 

Qunari--She might have some prejudice against them for their views on mages and the Qun.

 

Elves--Purely a status thing, to be honest.  

 

Dwarves--Perhaps she finds them unattractive?

 

I'm pulling this out of the air, but that's my thoughts.

Although in Thedas strapons are made by that explosion happy dwarf from Awakenings so now we may have to worry about Iron Bulls safety.

Well there's no special indication that he would be racegated.
