Anyway, I hope Iron bulls romance is sort of silly fun. I know he'll have some heavy stuff in his friendship path what with the ptsd but I kinda hope the romance is lighthearted and sweet.

Not everyone even wanted to romance IB, so of course not everyone is cheering. For a lot of people it's just one less chance the one they wanted is in. lol

Personally I don't care that much about exactly who's romancable or the curious fact that most love interests will be gay or bi. I just hope that romances are expanded a little bit and don't continue to follow the same stale format over and over again. In this Universe where every other person is bi it seems odd that Bioware seems to be going out of their way to not allow polyamorous romance options. Which is very strange because they actually had the option way back with Jade Empire. Strange

Racegating is lame. I'm sure the way it will be carried out in game won't look as bad as it sounds. If, for example, you were allowed to flirt with those characters that are racegated and they were to inform you that they weren't interested because you were the wrong race, well then that looks bad. But I suspect the option will never present itself with those characters so it will be as if they were never romanceable in the first place. 

 

That would be the proper way to do it. 

 

Actually, I would prefer that they acknowledge your attempt to initiate a romance with them, but I agree that they shouldn't say it's because of your race. I'd rather they just frame it as disinterest (depending on their disposition or what your approval with them is).

I'm totally with you. That's the best chance I can think righ now for me ending up liking his romance, because I don' find him very attractive to begin with and I'm almost sure lots of drama are not gong to make me more receptive

I'm jaded.  I fully expect the usual formula ; "Have three conversations, do a character mission, have sex before the final mission".

Agreed. I don't see why anyone would want to know why is s/he being rejected, to be honest. I'd definitely would rather not

I do admit one less chance for someone they wanted does make sense for why people wouldn't be happy about Iron Bull, but with 4 romances of each gender I can't see anyone not getting at least one or two they like (Seriously, double what we've gotten in previous games if you don't count dlc chars)

At the panel they specifically addressed polyamory and said it's really reeeeeally hard to script/code. The only way they think they could manage it would be if there were 2 characters who were already a couple and you were to romance them as a unit. Otherwise the number of dialogue permutations to let you romance any 2 characters at once would be insanely huge.

We don't know there will be 4 romances of each gender or how many choices everyone will get for gender/orientation, so we don't really know how many choices we'll have. 2/4/2 isn't confirmed, it's just speculation.

Problem it's not all of them are available to your favourite gender/sexuality combo, and for some people that's very important. I can play a lesbian PC, but I still prefer straight female, and I have a serious trouble to play a male PC. Otherwise I'd already be super happy with Dorian. 

 

And, really, as straight female, I still don't have an option I'm really interested in

That's a perfect reason for not being attracted, but claiming trauma at the hands of social group X or social stigma against group Y is not a reason I want to see in a video game made by people who care about the depth of the characterization.
