If bioware are going for equal numbers then viv will be in but it might not be. But i think the last two are viv and solas.

I know, but I'm saying I can see all 4 of the possibilities being straight regardless of which 2 it is. I can see Vivienne being only interested in human males and Varric female dwarfs.

 

Suppose one of each class wouldn't make it as a LI this was as well (Blackwall, Solas and Cole).

You're saying that you expect non-love interests to be straight?

It may play out that way, but I would like queer people who aren't love interests or former love interests. They wouldn't have to be companions though.

I don't think they'd race gate a straight or gay romance, cos they already are limited. And Josephine and Iron Bull are not race-gated. 

 

At this point I think Vivienne has to be one of the romances - and what people have been saying about her being just for humans makes sense, for story reasons (since the humans come from nobility and she's a social climber).

 

Varric would make sense as dwarf only. Solas....in their interview it said he doesn't like people judging him as an elf, so it would be hypocritical for him to be race-gated. And there's not really any reason I currently know of for Blackwall to be race-gated.

 

So at this point I'm gonna expect Viv and Varric to be the last two romances. Sigh, I was hoping for Solas.  

I 100% agree with you, the straight and same sex LI's are already restricted and putting race gating on them would just be over kill if you ask me. So yeah to me the 2 race gated LI's are more than likely Vivi and Varric

I will be pretty pissed if they brought back gating to give straight people more options, but right now I'm going to believe it's 2/4/2. I'm going to not doubt Bioware on the same day they did a talk on LGBT inclusion. Not today. lol

I'm saying I can see them all being straight if they're indeed LI, if they're not then I suppose their sexuality needs not to be touched upon unless if pushes the story forward somehow.

I don't know what the quota to fill is for the preferences left, I'm not following this as well as others here. But I dunno Viv feels likely to be another bi option, she is from Orlais after all *cough*. And Solas will prob be another hetero option, can't see Varric being made an LI but with Bioware who knows what they'll do.

So Iron Bull is a pansexual LI and he was supposed to be gated but ended not being because John E.  is an amazing animator.

 

This mean that 3 LIs could have been race gated if it wasn't for the feat and not the 2 we have now. This increase the chance that one of the gender-gated LIs is race-gated. It also increase the chance of uneven distribution if one of them is.

I have to say I  find it somewhat depressing that romances have now been reduced to quotas. I called it years ago that that's where things were headed.

Where are people getting that Iron Bull was 'supposed' to be race gated? That was never more than a guess. Yes the animator was thanked but that just seems to me like acknowledging the animators work, not saying they suddenly put a rush to make him romanceable to every race.

See Allan's post in the OP, and how hard that animation can be to get just right.  It's not just us thanking John for a great job, it's because we've got at least a little bit of an idea (some more than others for sure) on how much of a pain that must have been.

Earlier on, some people that were at the con were saying they said he was originally meant to be gated and that was why that line was in his profile, but they worked out his scenes at the last moment. I guess that's kind of a shaky source? But I believe they said the panel was being recorded.

Problem it's not all of them are available to your favourite gender/sexuality combo, and for some people that's very important. I can play a lesbian PC, but I still prefer straight female, and I have a serious trouble to play a male PC. Otherwise I'd already be super happy with Dorian. 

 

And, really, as straight female, I still don't have an option I'm really interested in 

 

Well think of it this way, assuming a 2/4/2 split you'll likely have 3 options as a straight female, that's more options than you had in any of the previous games. Even if none of those options appeal to you personally, you still had a higher chance of one of them appealing to you than you had in any of the previous games.
