Still don't like the idea of race-gating.

Since they've said they care more about equal numbers for gender/sexuality than race, I really hope they wouldn't consider this. I'm thinking right now that it seems unlikely.

Blackwall and Solas are apparently going to have 'kids these days' talks. Imagine that with one of them romanced? The other one claiming the other of 'robbing the craddle' xD

You can be 20-40, according to Laidlaw, and Solas and Blackwall are in their 40s, so it would be kind of weird.

I mostly said that because this is what Allan means when people tend to stretch his words too far. People will use it as a reason to attack him just because he communicates with us on the forums and I don't want that. We shouldn't read more into what devs say.

Sounds like you both could have more of what you wanted if they cut out some romances. Sasha doesn't have to be worried about being denied a romance on account of race if no one gets it at all, and the animation peeps can use the extra shut eye or work on other things.

@cnut Wow, is this real? Cuz if so, that's a strike through one of my fears why a Varric romance won't happen. In which case, YAY!

That would work.

I doubt that's going to happen though as the VA is likely already done and they've told us how many romances to expect.

I don't know if that's real, but David Gaider has said on the forums that he's not actively against doing a dwarf romance at some point.

Well I really have nothing to gain from him being a LI since I don't romance guys (as a male or female) but I'm hoping he is for the fans he has, don't get me wrong I love Varric to but just as a friend lol

So, I'm not impling anything, but I honestly think it's at least curious , that straight guys have had throughout the series only one non-human LI (and Vivienne being one it's not going to change that), while gay men and straight women can end up with up to four. We might get only one human LI in DAI. I'd happy if that was the case and it was because Solas it's in, so I'm not complaining. But I was thinking that the ME pattern is repeating again in DA, and, well, isn't it a little wierd?

I think its relevant that it was long enough ago where they could of added him as a romance, but thats just me and as someone said in the Varric thread that would be a little cruel of him for it to be a joke.

Women just have a way more narrow field for what's considered attractive enough to be an LI. If people complained as much as they have about Cassandra's jaw, can you imagine how they would react to a humanoid bug alien?

That's true. I followed for a while a thread in the ME forum where an inmense majority of the straight guys were saying they only wanted human LIs, except for asaris, but well, that's really just the same... Then again, elves are mostly humans with pointy ears... I don't know

The inherent implications of this are that straight men are considered to be more shallow than other orientations, if it's a case of 'safety' and fitting beauty stereotypes. I don't know if I'm comfortable with that as an explanation, because whilst there have certainly been a number of vocal males that have complained, there are probably a large amount who would be interested in a nontraditional LI.

I don't know why men have far fewer alternative-race LI's but I hope it's for a nicer reason than 'men are shallow'
