You can be 20-40, according to Laidlaw, and Solas and Blackwall are in their 40s, so it would be kind of weird.

Actually in medieval times 20 is a pretty adult age (it's also standard for most novels that write about young adults to set their age as 15-18, hell Prince of Thorns started the main character's age as 13 and he accomplished more in 2 years than I could in 25) so it wouldn't be that weird to be honest (romance wise), would still be amusing to see their "Kids these days" talks :P

I'm a straight, male gamer and my preferred LI in this game is Cassandra followed by Vivienne. In DA2 my favourite companion (who would have loved to have romanced) was Aveline, so I don't necessarily think the "straight guys are shallow" argument works. I'm not really seeing how those two are "non-traditional" but if they are then I guess you can count me in as liking the non-traditional romances.

Let's not forget that a great many straight guys wanted to romance Sera in Inquisition too, a non-human character.

Unfortunately, one straight man does not a trend unmake.

Besides, elven women are well within the parameters of acceptable attractiveness for most straight men- especially cute, young, blonde elves like Sera. Considering the amount of sexist (and sometimes baldly racist) complaints they were throwing around when Sera's sexuality was announced, they were latching onto her because they didn't want to end up with Cassandra or Vivienne.

I meant it would be weird that they would talk about robbing the cradle if you were 40 and they were only a few years older. In retrospect, I guess that was not clear at all.

Life expectancy was much lower in medieval times, but ages weren't seen that much differently than how we do it now. 20 is still adult, but young adult. 35 is considered a halfway period (like in Dante's inferno, everyone in heaven and hell is "Nel mezzo del cammin di nostra vita". Halfway through the journey of our life).

She's a romance in SW:tOR.  Though I suppose it's debatable how "non-traditional" she is.

Same way in early America really, especially when the Industrial Revolution happend, the concept of a childhood is actually a very young concept as kids were employed and had full time jobs since they were small enough to go in to machines and fix them until all the work laws about minors were put in place so yeah many times in history kids were not considered to young to work and be accomplished

Oh lol I misunderstood. Actually if you can be as old as them it'd be EXTREMELY weird.

I can't seem to understand, she's a very traditional mandalorian. Or are you referring to her not being extremely pretty and decorated while being a LI?

Akaavi is awesome and definitely outside of the mold of the other female LIs in SWTOR, but she's also still pretty and, more importantly, she's one of the classes where there are two romance options for the male PC. If she were the only female LI for the male Smuggler, the way Vector or Jorgan are for Agents and Smugglers, then I'd be more amenable to the idea that she's groundbreaking.

Will the game have modding? Because I'm fairly interested in romancing Sera and I don't feel like playing a female.

The latter, responding to the earlier conversation.

If that make the next to romances Varric and Viv, then that would be a completely balanced set.

2 Warriors

2 Rogues

2 Mages

2 Advisors

4 Male

4 Female

I'd like to say that I have nothing against people caring about physical appearance regarding their Lis, I think it's perfectly fine and that doesn'tmake them shallow. I'm more against the stereotype that women care less about that and more about other attributes, though I have to admit that it might well be true even if I don't want it to be so (speaking only about vague trends, of course). But what makes it weird even assuming this explanation, it's that elves are very easy to make "conventionally attractive" (in fcat, past  elven LIs have been very "conventionally attractive", and so is Sera)

I'm not attracted to Iron Bull at all. Some are and that's great. I sort of hope we can get one or two less traditionally masculine men next time, because this time was a testosterone fest. Not that I'm against ever having super brutish guys, like Bull, but some variety in manliness levels would be nice.

Modding is likely to be fairly limited, though you never know what will pop up.  ME didn't really support modding, but people managed a fair amount of stuff.

I'm just one guy, but i'm far from the only one with this mind set

And i'm willing to bet that they were an extremely vocal minority, rather than the majority of straight DA fans. There were many straight guys who congratulated the lesbian gamers about Sera, and a great many more who kept silent on the issue, and even more who just didn't care either way.

You wouldn't stereotype any other group of people like this, so why do it to straight guys?

I'm glad we'll finally have a really manly guy to romance. In DA0 and DA2 all guys seemed to be feminine or neutral.

I'd have figured his personality got more criticism. Not his appearance. He's either a self-indulgent hedonist. Or a Qunari spy. Both seem more important than scars.

Yeah it's perfectly fine to care about finding physical appearance attractive, it's pretty normal about both appearance and personality.
