Comparing Jack and Sera to Thane and Garrus just kind of proves a point...

There is also Jack in ME2.

Even so, i'd consider the bald head and covered from head to toe in tattoos as being somewhat non-traditional.

Tali as well, you can't even see what she looks like, so you can't accuse the guys who romanced her as being shallow.

It's well hidden though under less conventional, shaved head, piercings and tats.

Yes, body tats and scars aside, her *face* is one of the most supermodel and Angelina Jolie-esque beautiful out there.

I'd have figured his personality got more criticism. Not his appearance. He's either a self-indulgent hedonist. Or a Qunari spy. Both seem more important than scars.

I'm ok with self-indulgent hedonists and I might do with a Qunari spy, especially considering how much that could possibly change by the end of the game. So, yes, I'm all about the scars (and the horns, etc.)   :P

I felt more attracted to her when she had hair in ME 3.

She was still pretty in ME 2 though, but bald woman just really aren't my thing.

Well my main problem with the Iron Bull is I didn't really like the FPJ interview , when he said "James Bond of Qunari" , and all those alpha male stuff...Not my thing.

Mostly my fault though, I should stop reading all the interviews , and watchin the videos.

I'm just one guy, but i'm far from the only one with this mind set

And i'm willing to bet that they were an extremely vocal minority, rather than the majority of straight DA fans. There were many straight guys who congratulated the lesbian gamers about Sera, and a great many more who kept silent on the issue, and even more who just didn't care either way.

You wouldn't stereotype any other group of people like this, so why do it to straight guys?

When people talk about this kind of thing, they know that 'not all straight men' feel that way. If you don't want the perception of 'most' to be that 'most' straight men were hating on Sera, then prove that isn't the case by being vocal against the vocal minority, not the people who feel frustrated by them.  ^_^

I'm not OK with hedonists, but I doubt any of the real issues will reflect in game. Usually they drink all your beer, eat all your food, and don't clean up :D

Well, yes, but it is still there, after all, unlike what happens with IB, Garrus and the rest

I was arguing against stereotyping people. Especially based on gender and orientation. Nobody would stand for people saying "gay guys are effeminate" or "lesbians are butch" but apparently "straight guys are shallow" is fine.

I'm not stereotyping, I'm just pointing out that the straight men on this forum seem to reflect trends I see literally everywhere, where women are held to a much higher standard of attractiveness and aren't worth anything unless they find her attractive. Why do you think most of the sexist character and armor designs are justified by the whole "it's just eye-candy" or "most of the players for this game are guys and this is what guys want to look at" argument? I mean, even if I were stereotyping, is stereotyping unwarranted if straight men themselves are going in on it if it gets them what they want?

Because Tali has a full-face mask, you can imagine anything, and the bulk of her fanart is a gorgeous face with long flowing hair.

Also, dem hips

I'm going to agree that a human woman, even one with bald hair and piercings, is not comparable to a creature with mandibles instead of a mouth.

If I were walking down the street and saw Jack, I'd find her unusual. If I were walking down the street and saw Garrus or the Iron Bull, I'd freak the hell out.

Nobody said straight guys are inherently shallow. Social norms don't allow for women to be portrayed in as many roles as men, conventionally, and their acceptable appearance is much more narrow. You can take that personally, if you want to, but it wont be less true. If you don't like it, maybe you should focus on being more vocal about changing it instead of channeling your hostility towards denial.

I wasn't saying that you personally were stereotyping anybody, just that it does happen, especially on these forums.

I doubt this will be available to you.

They managed to do it in Origins. All you need to do is trick the game that your male is a female, i.e. you can romance Alistair as a dude or Morrigan as a woman.

They also did it in Mass Effect 3, with the MShep Garrus tango which is hilarious.
