Technically, I don't believe he is an animator. He's a cinematic designer. Which probably means he found good ways to shoot animations that may or may not have been created between Iron Bull and every gender/race variation.
So kudos to the animators as well, for making the good animations to begin with.
I have a minor pet peeve about people confusing cinematic artists and animators
Well, yeah, you are right he makes the cutscenes, he doesn't animate the characters.
Comparing Jack and Sera to Thane and Garrus just kind of proves a point...
Wasn't Thane was specifically designed to be "sexy male alien"? Since there were the Asari for female aliens.
I'm not stereotyping, I'm just pointing out that the straight men on this forum seem to reflect trends I see literally everywhere, where women are held to a much higher standard of attractiveness and aren't worth anything unless they find her attractive. Why do you think most of the sexist character and armor designs are justified by the whole "it's just eye-candy" or "most of the players for this game are guys and this is what guys want to look at" argument? I mean, even if I were stereotyping, is stereotyping unwarranted if straight men themselves are going in on it if it gets them what they want?
Try being a 5 foot 2 tall male and see if you still have that belief women are just as bad I know a lot of women who have turned me down just because of my height saying your good looking enough but your to short despite being shorter or only a little taller.
Nobody said straight guys are inherently shallow. Social norms don't allow for women to be portrayed in as many roles as men, conventionally, and their acceptable appearance is much more narrow. You can take that personally, if you want to, but it wont be less true. If you don't like it, maybe you should focus on being more vocal about changing it instead of channeling your hostility towards denial.
I actually agree with you on this. I'm not sure why you think i'm being hostile though, I haven't said anything that would indicate hostility.
Also, what is making people assume that I don't confront those that are letting the side down?

I think he was supposed to look like Jude Law.

He was, and we could admire the double standard: Asaris has the EXACT SAME face a a human, where Drells can get away with reptile-looking faces, with sideways eylids.
They managed to do it in Origins. All you need to do is trick the game that your male is a female, i.e. you can romance Alistair as a dude or Morrigan as a woman.
They also did it in Mass Effect 3, with the MShep Garrus tango which is hilarious.
Maybe I'm missing something but iron bull equally seems to play to stereotypes of male attractiveness, beefcake etc.

You mean he was supposed to look like this:

Not a good job. Like at all. ![]()
(I LOVE Jude Law
)

Might also have been a result of people calling them out for the lazy Star Trek alien design of the Asari. Just give humans weird skin and tentacle hair.
I think the Drell had the most interesting design, as they actually went somewhat into physiology with that one.

Women also got the giant alien space rapter, from what I hear most didn't mind/were rather happy with the situation. Are women actually that much less finicky about looks than men, or do people just believe that's the case?
I've seen a few studies done on what male body type straight women find most attractive and a very small percentage tend to choose the beefcake look. The vast, vast majority usually chooses a leaner but toned body type. So I disagree.
leaner? I heard from studys that women like tall, sporty and slender guys...but not leaner.
Advisor's have banter. Leliana had some in the demo.
Advisors have banter. Just limited in the keeps. EDIT: actually, the have banters outside as well .
This is where I got the impression advisors won't have banter: https://twitter.com/...635551622045696
Anyway I see how not having them in the party bothers just me. But I'm not so sure this would pass so quietly if Sera/Cass/Dorian were advisors instead.
I'll just take Allan's advice and wait. I'm not going to enjoy the game any less for this, I just see it a bit unfair right now.

Don't slender and leaner mean essentially the same thing in this context?
Yup, looked up synonyms for lean, slender was the third word in
, right after slim and thin.

I don't think so, you can be slender and sporty...but leaner and sporty is like a contradiction.

You might want to head to the Varric thread. A lot of ladies want him as well. He's shorter than you I think.
I'm actually quite glad we finally have a muscular male LI...to be honest, IB is the first man with lots of testosterone. I always wanted a guy like him : ( no small elf, no girly human...just a big strong muscular guy.

He was a fan favourite in the first game. There wasn't really any unattractive or weird looking female aliens in the game until ME3 with the female Krogan and then the female Turian in Omega. Edit: I may be forgetting if there were any female Batarians.
I guess we can say Tali would be the closest comparison. But the Quarians weren't really ugly per se, they were just a blank slate.
I don't think that the ME team would have made either a Turian or a Quarian into love interests if it wasn't for the reaction to them after the first game. It is a bit similar as Gaider's stance on dwarves.

Asari's sole existence is to fulfill white male fantasies, thankfully, important Asari characters went beyond that, but the fact remains that Thessia has the fanservice hat.

Garrus was a bit different, he wasn't design for being romanced, it's popular demand that made him a LI.
Most studies suggest that women care far less about looks than men do. I think it's important to remember though that this doesn't mean women care less innately, we're socialized to do so. There are no films like Beauty and the Beast aimed at teaching boys that physically unattractive women may be their dream women.

No probs, as a straight bloke all I have to go on is comments online(why wasn't vega an option etc), titbits from women I know in real life.
I think that's because they had so few LI in ME3, some had Kaidan dead and Garrus was not available if not romanced in ME2.
