Try being a 5 foot 2 tall male and see if you still have that belief women are just as bad I know a lot of women who have turned me down just because of my height  saying your good looking enough but your to short despite being shorter or only a little taller.

Yep, it's pretty common.

leaner? I heard from studys that women like tall, sporty and slender guys...but not leaner.

Synonyms to lean: slim, thin, slender, etc.; this is how I meant lean.

He was a fan favourite in the first game. There wasn't really any unattractive or weird looking female aliens in the game until ME3 with the female Krogan and then the female Turian in Omega. Edit: I may be forgetting if there were any female Batarians.

I guess we can say Tali would be the closest comparison. But the Quarians weren't really ugly per se, they were just a blank slate.

I don't think that the ME team would have made either a Turian or a Quarian into love interests if it wasn't for the reaction to them after the first game. It is a bit similar as Gaider's stance on dwarves.

This is Matt Rhodes', Tali's concept artist, prefered depiction of her.

I figured I'd just bring this up for argument's sake.

I remember being so disappointed when the Beast turned out to be all traditional disney prince underneath :( if I was Belle I'd have considered turning him back because it wasn't much of an improvement

Well, it wasn't until she realized it was Beast. At first she was hesitant, but then looked into his eyes and recognized them.

Asari's sole existence is to fulfill white male fantasies, thankfully, important Asari characters went beyond that, but the fact remains that Thessia has the fanservice hat.

Yes, unfortunately. I'm actually quite glad that the companions are not commonly attractive this time - even the females. They're older, They look like warriors, they're battle scarred. even the female warrior Cassandra. There's a black female as well... and they're certainly no dolls.

You might want to head to the Varric thread. A lot of ladies want him as well. He's shorter than you I think.

Cheers! Varricmancer here! Short guys ftw, definitely prefer short to tall. Among my reasons one of the smaller ones is that I love the idea of being able to lend a cute guy my hoody if he gets cold, and have him actually able to wear it.

This is where I got the impression advisors won't have banter: https://twitter.com/...635551622045696

Anyway I see how not having them in the party bothers just me. But I'm not so sure this would pass so quietly if Sera/Cass/Dorian were advisors instead.

I'll just take Allan's advice and wait. I'm not going to enjoy the game any less for this, I just see it a bit unfair right now.

Oh trust, it bothers me too, I'm straight bummed out

Women also got the giant alien space rapter, from what I hear most didn't mind/were rather happy with the situation. Are women actually that much less finicky about looks than men, or do people just believe that's the case?

I'm a guy, and I played femshep primarily so I could romance Garrus. #noregrets #questionableheterosexuality

I don't think so, you can be slender and sporty...but leaner and sporty is like a contradiction.

You can be slimmer (leaner) than say IB, and still be sporty....

Wow, what a change. In the game she looked like a barbie with Turian limbs.

If Bioware had offered up female versions of garrus, thane and jacob, as the romanceable options for straight guys in ME2, would you have considered yourself satisfied with these options? Note that the characters are otherwise exactly the same as their male counterparts and any history you share with them is the same, only the genders have been changed.

I just want to say, having synonymes doesn't mean, that the words are quite the same. leaner for example looks like an extremer form of slender.

I like they've gone for a mix. Cass-sera-viv(if she's an option) are all different archetypes IMO.
I'd still have preferred da2 open and accessible approach though so if straight males wanted cute as a button sera they could and if lesbian wanted strong warrior woman they could too.

He was, and we could admire the double standard: Asaris has the EXACT SAME face a a human, where Drells can get away with reptile-looking faces, with sideways eylids.

Why do you need to bring mysoginy into this?

Having a human face doesn't mean you're prettier. Hell, Tali has no face and I still find her the most attractive. People are more than their looks and Thane is way more interesting than Liara.

I heard women like sporty, slender (but not thin) guys who are borad-shouldered. Hopefully you know what I mean.

As discussed in her thread, Cassandra's attractive the way a female athlete's attractive.  Rather than, say, a supermodel is attractive.

This is the first google image result I got when I googled "lean man" he looks pretty athletic to me. I was going to do a side by side comparison with the first result I got for "slender man" but the first result scared the hibbie jibbies out of me, so I won't be posting it here.

I'd have been fine with that. What I found attractive about Garrus was his relationship to Shepard. That kind of close friendship and camaraderie they had together blossoming into something more. Plus Garrus was very fun-loving, and I liked that aspect of him. I never really got into Thane or Jacob, but then I also never got into Miranda, Jack or Tali.

I'd kind of imagining female Garrus a bit like Nyreen but with the burn scars and the giant rifle. This image appeals to me, but I probably have a fetish.

Yes but Beast was all dark and tormented and  and putting all that in the body of a little traditional disney prince felt a bit like a loss
I think I was expecting someone a little more grown-up and a little more tough/wild looking after years as an animal. I'd have probably been OK with it if I hadnt watched it for the first time as an adult
