No unless advisers travel on adventures( in which case they would be companions not advisors) then they are going to be vastly substandard in terms on time spent with.

That and hasn't BW admitted there isn't actually that much unique romance content compared to most of the dialogue? Most of it is simply perception like dragging them around with you on quests and listening to their banter out in the field.

But my point was that the people who wanted to romance Sera as a male are now gonna have to play as a female. So, it seemed okay in my eyes that if we have to play as a female to get Sera (which isn't a problem for me personally), people who want to romance Cass are gonna have to play as a male.

That would balance it out, don't you think?

It is 'okay' for Cassandra to be a straight woman or a bisexual one. I'm not sure I care about the balance thing. It's just as okay for whomever else is a love interest to be straight or bisexual.

As long as I have an enjoyable romance, I don't think I need to give the companion's sexual orientation my stamp of approval.

Exactly, it's more immersive rping for me to take the li everywhere, and I mean everywhere, with me. That is something an NCP can't replace to me and I don't think I'm wrong or alone in that thought.

How much time are you going to spend in any keep, organizing, coordinating and planing your ressources and checking up on information as opposed to being out there in the wilderness?

Do you have any information that we do not? Please share!

Not to mention that I consider "listening to my LI 30 minutes grunting their way through a dragon fight" as yardstick of the quality of a romance.

I think that we will probably get 4 bi LI's (male/female) if the NPCs are bi too.. it would be fair if we had bi companions too. :)

What if we end up getting one bi companion and bi NPC

Same you're not. Especially since apparently some lands are big enough that it's going to take 15 minutes real time to get from one end to the other. With additional caves and what not to explore I highly doubt we're going to spend more time in the keep than in the field. Especially since I think that was a medium sized level they showed in that old demo. If you cut out the travel and combat from a BW game you get a much more condensed experience.

Doubtful.

We will probably get a gay male companion as Sera's counterpart. I suspect the rest of the team will be a mixture of straight and bisexual.

Sorry I'd be very angry if straight males got shafted by having substandard npc romance whilst others get access to 2 full companion romances. If they are going to use npc as filler they should be bi.

I'm guessing that when it's all over straight males will have two companion romances and one NPC. As a lesbian I'm hoping for Cass and Sera anything else would be a bonus. Just because we got Sera doesn't mean that we should be punished by not having access to the most well known female character in the game.

The problem is that who will be the bi companion? A woman or a man?

I think it would be more fair if we had one male and female bi companion and one male/female bi npc.

I'm hoping NCP's are bi as well! I don't want my straight female quiz to only have one companion romance choice; as many here seem to be (selfishly) hoping for, grrrrr. Sorry, but I'm one who really enjoys taking my li everywhere for rping purposes.

I am trying so hard not to snark at this.

Now imagine playing a game with 21 romances and none of them for you.

If there's only 4 companion romances, then cass should be straight male only. If there are 6 and both viv & cass are li then one should be straight and one bi.

Agreed. The situation with Cassandra seems a bit all over the place. Her becoming a lesbian option is probably out of the question at this point, which leaves either f/m or s/s. Both of which seem equally possible.

I agree with this but I also wonder if Cullen ends up straight would it be fair to straight females to have a straight NPC romance and straight males having a straight companion. Most of the complaints seem to be centered on lesbians getting something that straight males don' have.

Or Viv could be the straight option. Who knows. Also since they said the game has more romances than previous DA games, i assume more than 5 LI's.

No they are on fairness, everyone having access to the same no of companion romances.

Another aspect I find offputting in this discussion: The distinction between "companion" and "advisor", with the latter being considered lesser romance options.

Fact is: We know that a major part of gameplay is about increasing the power of the inquisition, something that has not been done before in any BW game. It's a viable assumption that the advisors play a major role for this task. Other than that, we know jack **** on how this plays out.

So if we have nine companions of who we chose three for our party, but have three advisors, which might all play an important role for the various parts of the game, isn't it possible that the interaction with the advisors is just as rich and full-fledged, their story just as deep and their importance to the plot just as significant than that of the companions?

It's all speculation, but I imagine that scribbles might play a bigger role in my games than Blackwall. I just don't know anything about her yet, but that's not something I hold against Bioware.

After the E3 trailers it really seems like advisors have quite big roles in game. They won't just stand in the keep waiting for you, they can go to missions like Leliana was spying on Tevinter magister and Cullen was in very intresting scene with Morrigan wearing lion helmet. So this really gave me hope that they will have rather big roles and also that their romances are probaply as good as companions. Like you implied, it's very possible that advisors have larger part in the game than companions you abandon on keep and never take with you ^^

I doubt they'll give the straight women a straight NPC LI and not a companion. Cullen will most likely be bi. Or if he's straight then Scribbles will be straight too.

Man, i need them to announce the LI's already. :P

You think I'm taunting you over the 21 romances in TOR that were all straight?

Perhaps I'm asking you, in the middle of your angst over possibly only having two romances, to imagine a game where there were 21 romances and you got 0.

To be fair I was routing for s/s romances in TOR too :(

At least then I'd have someone to romance on my dude playthroughs.

Also TOR romances with that marriage and baby ever after epilogues...why. Just why does it seem every romance ends in marriage and talk of babies.
