Twerking is the worst thing to ever happen in popular culture, aside from Twilight and Justin Bieber.
I'd add Hash Tagging everything, along with JLS,and musicals oh and for balance throw in Gangnam Style

I didn't know talking about the preview (or the recent articles about the preview) was off limits in this thread? And I assume that different choices will change the outcome of that scenario.
Honestly, if there was a warning that we needed to use spoiler tags, I would have, but I assumed any info already released was fair game to talk about here.
I acknwoledged that Bioware has spoiler incontienence, that's why I stayed clear from threads discussing it, didn't expected someone would spill the beans in the romance thread ![]()
Yeah she is. Who do you think looks better?
Viviene, at least. And I think Cass has modes attractive features despite being way more butch in appearance.
Quite so. I think Vivienne is the most gorgeous lady in our roster. I'd even say she's likely one of the most beautiful women BioWare's had in any game. And I find Cass to be much more attractive by personal taste, as I prefer women with severe and strong features rather than soft.

I really hope Viv is a bi option otherwise my interest is at zero for LI's. Cass is pretty, don't like the flaming she gets from some, if anything I'd call her a soft butch myself.
BioWare hasn't gone out of their way to care about 'equal' numbers previously, so I'm not sure why they would start now.

Perhaps it may be a scenario like the ME2 suicide mission, yunno if you don't prepare right, pick the better choices that could happen. I don't know I just have a feeling such an outcome may be avoidable.
I think there's more to the demo than what we saw
Time Travelling.

So yeah, I'm very amused that this Greedy Bisexual may pass on all eight romances, depending on what I hear and see about them.

I'm with you on the bold. In terms of Viv, it's just those cheekbones. I'm a sucker for sharp, well-defined cheekbones. The ridiculously full lips work for her too.

Because someone needs to get the ball rolling, and based on their presence at GaymerX, it looks like BioWare are the ones to do it.
Keeping romance options skewed in favor of straight romances kind of flies in the face of what they say they are striving for.

I would enjoy this as my first play through I killed half the crew including my only love interest and half of my companion died but I loved replaying and saving everyone. I felt like such a hero.
Aha. I didn't intentionally mean to get most of my crew killed in my first run, I was too late to save the ship crew, human smoothies galore. And I sorta dropped the ball on who should go back with the doc and Miranda wasn't loyal to me sooooooo yup deaths happened. Whoops! ![]()
Second time round I did it right, saved errybody, hoozah! ![]()

That's what I assume. But generally, "determinant" (to use Telltale Games' term for characters who may or may not die in the story) characters don't get as much content or relevance to the main plot as others do. Especially if their crisis point is half way through the game.
*seems to do Greedy Bisexual better than you despite not being bisexual*
I try, but I'm too darned picky.
I try, but I'm too darned picky.
I think Sera is cute and she'll probably be the one I romance in my first playthrough if Vivienne isn't an LI, but knowing that it was confirmed that she was killed in the preview makes me think that she's completely optional and not a part of the main plot. If she dies no matter what in the end, or betrays the Inquisitor, I will regretfully have to pass, cause I've had quite enough Tragic Lesbian Romances to last a lifetime, thanks very much. Josephine looks and sounds pleasant and agreeable, but that's not what I look for in a video game romance, especially for a character who isn't a companion, and if there's any hint of a power imbalance in the relationship with the Inquisitor that will be a huge nope for me. And although I find Cullen and Dorian attractive, one I have problems with ideologically, and the other is off limits because I don't play male characters.

I highly doubt BioWare would force a whole team on you to take to a certain place, one companion doing his/her side quest, obviously you need them, but not all three.
I think that scene was thrown together for "speculations".

You realize that BioWare's "what we are striving for" didn't stop them from putting 6 males and 3 females in the party just because they had 2 females advisors (both bisexual) and plenty of important female in the setting (three of which are at least attracted to women - Celene, Briala, the current Divine-).
It's not because they might not have has many lesbians/female bisexual LIs that there is a lack of representation for that demographic in the game.
I try, but I'm too darned picky.
Tsk, tsk. You need to grind your Greedy Bisexual skill some more if you ever want to attain the Realistic Bisexual specialization.

It seems what they say flies in the face of what they say they are striving for.
We keep getting told they don't care what this or that demographic wants, they're going to do whatever they want. That suggests to me that they are less concerned about enforcing some numerical 'equality' and focusing instead on building interesting characters, regardless of sexuality. Which is exactly what they should be doing.
I get the feeling they care a whole lot less about the romances than the fanbase does. The BSN in particular seems to put WAY too much importance on what has become three conversations, a mission and a sex scene.
Their reaction was "then why do you feel compelled to continue using the word?"
I didn't really have a good answer. Years later, I feel I felt defensive because I knew being a racist was a bad thing, and if I admitted to using a racist slur then my personal self image now has to reconcile the question: "If I acknowledge that I used a racist slur... does that make me a racist?" Which is a terrifying thing to face because I knew being a racist was wrong and I didn't believe I was a racist. The brain (which I do not believe we have full control over) is exceptionally good at rationalizing things to eliminate cognitive dissonance, and it's a major amount of cognitive dissonance to try to reconcile the idea that I performed an action that I would typically classify as only being done by racist people - a status I didn't want to believe I could be.
I suppose they have the choice to not feel offended. The thing is, if this is true, then I have the choice to not be bothered if their reaction is anything more than allowing bygones to be bygones. If they can choose to not be bothered by that, I can choose to not be bothered by them demanding apologies, and I can choose to not be bothered by them "lording my misunderstanding over me like it was some kind of scarlet letter."
Because to me, it seems the bulk of your point is immediately solved by practicing what you suggest the other person should do. The thing is, it always seems to be the "other person" that has to do something. At the time I was defensive. But now, I can look at it and say to myself "I was in the wrong. All the other person did was tell me that it was a racist slur and they would appreciate that I stopped doing it." Even if they said "Hey *******, that's a racist slur" it doesn't really change the fact that I used a racist slur.
If you and I (and I mean literally, you and me) are talking and I say something that bothers you, then it's up to me to evaluate whether or not it's worth me continuing to use that phrase. If I respect you as a person, I better have a good reason to keep using the word. If my original usage of the word was "I didn't know any better" then if I insist on keeping using it despite you telling me that it's offensive, then it may in fact be that I don't respect you all that much after all.
Context and understanding is important though. If you tell me that you find the use of the word "the" offensive, you'll need to elaborate on your reasoning as to why. It's not like someone is just saying "I find the word 'it' offensive." They've substantiated why (They find it dehumanizing). It's a position I can understand. No one is saying that they find the word offensive without substantiating why, in this case.
I feel Stephen Fry's quote is misused a lot. His quote is specifically with regards to a law that would prevent negative commentary to "stir up religious hatred." It's important to note that Fry's views don't really align with organized religion. They use it as a general position "no one can claim to feel offended" and to rationalize continuing to act like a jerk.
It first comes up in an article by The Guardian. It should be noted that Fry takes offense to things like homophobia, antisemitism, and racism. Like most people, he probably is disinclined to validate "I am offended by that" for people that espouse morals and values that are not in alignment with his own.
I don't know what his response to insisting on referring to a trans person as "it" would be (someone could ask on twitter I suppose), but I actually wouldn't be surprised if he felt that someone insisting on using the term was a dolt.
Way I see it is we have become too PC, "the right to freedom of speech" is often touted, however over the years it has become diluted to a meaningless term, where you have to second guess every little detail of what your going to say for fear that someone, somewhere will be offended, so should everyone in the entire world just stop speaking all together because inevitably somebody, somewhere will be offended after all that would solved the issue straight away right?.At the moment it there is a double standard where if a Caucasian man describes a man of African Ethnicity as "black" then the whole world is up in arms, turn the tables however and have the African man describe the the Caucasian man as a "snowman" and nobody bats an eyelid.
It would be like asking an American to stop pronouncing words like leisure, tomato, potato and Aluminium in their usual way because people who speak "British English" which is where English as we know it originated find it to be an insulting use of the English language. There was an addage that went something like "it takes 2 to tango"So when it comes down to the right of one individual to not "be offended" and the right of the apparent offendee to speak their mind is one more important than the other or are they both the same?
I find Justin Bieber Music to be offensive does that mean that Justin Bieber music should be banned because the number of people that find it offensive is outnumbered by the number of people enjoy it ? or should the offended just accept that the universe does not bend to their will simply because they demand it and move on ?
I'm sure someone somewhere will be offended that it has been suggested "stop being offended and grow a spine" or words to that effect oh what a weird and wonderful way the universe works
Someday, I hope my criteria for enjoying a love interest is more than 'has ******.' There is something altogether unsavory about it.
But it's the unsavoury part that makes it so delicious..
Team "Will snog with anyone if they're gorgeous enough" ftw! Even if you only do it in games
And internet cookies if you get the quote reference ![]()
Did the GaymerX thread go missing? I can't find it. Anyway, the Freaking Out the Neighbors panel is about an hour. Hopefully, we'll get a hint (or confirmation) about at least one of those last two romances. It sounds like at least one of the posters here was there yesterday, perhaps if one of us is there today, s/he can try to get some info out of them!

Honestly I wasn't even aware that there was some quota to fill until I checked out these boards. That has passed me by all the time I've played these games. Thankfully they aren't going that dreadful lets make most of our LI's bi route that they went in DA2. Like the game was awful anyway but this didn't help IMO. I'd much rather Bioware decide who is what in regards to sexuality, not the players, makes the characters feel more real that way I believe.

Yup. Totally gone. Is someone gonna make another, or should we just stick to the Twitter thread?
