Hence why I think him being gated against dwarves unlikely. Qunari, though, I could see. If Varric is still bothered by them after these years, then Cullen--who was probably fighting Qunari in the streets of Kirkwall--could have issues with them as well.

 

That said, I'm still betting the two unannounced LI's are the gated ones.

 

Same here I'm really thinking the last two LIs are bisexual and race gated, though that could be way off the mark for all I know. I still think Vivenne and Solas are going ot be the last two LIs though I can't think of 'story' reason for them to be gated personal ones I guess but not story reason. :/

I hope Cullen isn't race gated due to him being a racist zealot, I already dislike him being a military advisor that can't be removed from his position but adding that to his character will make him unbearable to be around.

 

I've been in the Varric for Female Dwarf party since they announced we can play as Dwarves again.  And with it coming down to the wire I'm sticking with my gut, Varric will be straight and gated to Dwarves only.

 

The other romance being race gated I think will be Vivienne.  Even with the gay romances getting the spot light this time around, I really don't see BioWare leaving straight males with two options, Vivienne will be the third for males.  I really have no opinion on whether or not she's bi, but that would split the gay romances in favour of women, so I don't think that will happen.  She also seems like an elitist snob so her not getting with "lesser races" seems plausible to me.  Which also means that my Dwarf Warrior will likely be cutting her in half with his/(her if Varric is available) axe but my Necromancer might enjoy her company.

Why would a race gated Cullen always have something to do with religion?  A character could just not be attracted to other races.

 

Varric isn't into humans and I think that's just because he's just not attracted to them and nothing to do with religion or what they did to him in the past.

It may not and if it isn't, I can deal with that.  But it seems the speculation surrounding Cullen being race gated is due to calling Oghren heathen, and since they won't just gate him to Dwarves because that's quite silly, they'll likely have to come up with reasons for him not to be with Qunari and Elves, and with all Elves being Dalish, a race gated Cullen would likely be race gated due to religious reasons.  A pro Andraste zealot has no place in my Inquisition.

 

Again that's all crazy speculation, I don't believe Cullen is race gated at all, I was just adding my two cents in why I would hate if he was a pro Andraste zealot in Inquisition.  Anybody else, I can deal with by finding a way to remove them from the party, it seems advisors can't be removed as easy as companions though.

If Varic was made a romance option for dwarven women only, then you'd definitely see people playing dwarves for sure.  Though it would be skewed more towards women I think. lol

 

I can easily picture a conversation with the female dwarf and Varric where she questions him on why humans seem obsessed with his chest hair  With various comments from the party.

Cullen called Qunari heathen in DA2 as well. It's not just Dwarves.

 

Also, if they had 2/2/2 none-race-gated LIs, they wouldn't have needed the chart to make sure every players had choices...

Well, Cullen would  also be attracted to elves if they want to keep continuity since he can have a crush on the female elven mage in the mage origin.  It could easily be something like he just prefers women around his own height which would include Qunari if they are just going to have him race gated due to some type of physical aspect he is attracted to.

 

Cullen never strikes me as a religious zealot by the end of DA2.  At the beginning of DA2, he did but that was when he was still recovering from what happened to him at the Circle of Magi in Fereldan during DAO.  I figured his faith was what helped him recover from that and the events of DA2 tempered any kind of religious zealotry that developed from DAO.

Since the only elf you can be is dalish a human only restriction would work. He feels Qunari and dwarves are heathens and the dalish elf is well dalish.

 

Of course in this scenario I'm wondering why in the hell is not only the f/m only option a damn advisor but he's restricted to everyone but humans.
