Ludicrous, I'm a gay man myself but I suppose I just haven't considered how tight/small the playable cast is which is what the romances are spread across.
I didn't care that Asari were all pretty much bisexual in ME because they were a fictional race that worked, I'm just saying that I'd personally like Vivienne to be straight because I just want her to be. Nothing more, no different to how I wanted Sera to be gay which she ended up being.

Isn't Viv confirmed to not be Orlesian but originally from the free marches? Or did I imagine that.
She is, but everything about the Orlais theory fell through, so now she just has to be straight "for reasons".

I should probably clarify that having 8 romanceable characters out of 12 doesn't mean that the other characters don't also have sexual orientations. Which I think makes it more "realistic/plausible."
Not that this means that they will be (or will not be), just that the realism argument has a shaky foundation when working with such a small group of people.

You lost me when you used the word unrealistic in regards to a game set in a fantasy setting.

This is why it's important for inclusion in the fantasy genre. People have gotten used to magical fireballs being thrown around, but as soon as LGBT people show up, suddenly it's unrealistic.
I am not sure I want to go into this, but I think people are trying to convey something that is not being homophobic necessarily...necessarily.
Even worlds with dragons have rules the second you make male and female dragons. When you go to a space age world with characters that can say "bud" a new offspring then you have an entirely different set of "rules". An entire gay planet in the universe could happen. They could develop technology that allowed same sex procreation.
Its like wire fu in movies. I can accept it in Crouching Tiger HIdden Dragon because we accept that in mystical ancient times there may be magic kung fu that lets people fly around, that's the suspension of disbelief. Wire fu in the Matrix is likewise similar. Wire fu in Charlies Angels (yes i saw it) made me go: WTF? why are they flying around like that?
1/3 of the group is heterosexual and 2/3 are bisexual or gay. This is not a real life proportion and in a world where offspring are still m/f it is outside basic parameters. I mean, look Alistair can't even marry an elf but 2/3 of all people are into same sex relations? How does that make sense at all?
It's not homophobic or biphobic to point this out.
It is homophobic and/or biphobic to be a whiney ****** about it and complain that gays and bis are included when gays and bisexuals have money, as well, and just want to play a ****** game and escape from real life. That's why the worlds should be playersexual so that you can escape. I mean, Jeez, it's a place to escape and it can be unrealistic but SO WHAT? Does it hurt anyone for gay or lesbians or bisexual polyamorous people to play a freaking game in their own home where they get to be heroes and have sex with everyone in the entire fantasy world?
At the same time, someone saying that its unrealistic is not necessarily homophobic. It is unrealistic even in a fantasy environment with these set parameters, but so what?
Unrealistic is why you buy the game.

If Harry Potter started having flying UFO's around London then I'd find it unrealistic, maybe unrealistic isn't the best word, perhaps 'unbelievable' is better. Because I'm under the impression there are a lot of characters from Orlais are not straight which I might be wrong about at the moment I would like Vivienne to be straight, though it wouldn't ruin anything for me personally if she wasn't.
By the way sandal 2.0 could you please stop with the petty underhanded comments, you might disagree with what I'm saying but you're certainly not in any position to say I'm lying about my own sexual orientation, no one else has stooped to that immaturity so you certainly don't have to.

Irrelevant to the point. We have yet to have anyone reproduce in a way other than M/F. Even the Darkspawn require females.

Honestly, just try to think of representation in the real world for a minute. Lesbians would only get 2 options, 1 companion and 1 NPC, with this set up. Men would get 3 options, 2 companions and 1 NPC. Lesbians and bisexual women have traditionally been either ignored or hyper-sexualized in media to extremes and, undoubtedly, this would mean a lot to them. Is it really worth denying them an option to prove a point that you already admitted you're not even sure you're right about?
