Would the circumstances be more amenable if Anders' bisexuality was presented differently, later? Your issue is with erasure, correct? So if other events ensured erasure didn't happen, how does the scene work? (it's okay if it still doesn't)
If I was going to do the Anders scene involving the Karl reveal in DA2, I wouldn't have taken out the line about Karl at all. If anything, I felt his history with Karl added a lot of depth to the scene before, when Karl was mercy-killed by either the player or Anders. I probably would have changed a little bit of the wording so there wasn't any risk of calling Hawke by the wrong pronoun, but I would have left the scene and the conversation just the same.
As it is now, since it's possible that Anders is dead (depending upon player choices,) I suppose one thing that could be done at this point, is if there is a codex for Anders, a little mention that he part of the reason why he Kirkwall to go was after his friend and lover Karl to try to help.
Down the road, if a character is bisexual, I'd like a line mentioning their bisexuality to be something for both genders to hear. It shouldn't be just thrown in every time willy-nilly, but if the line is scripted for one gender to learn about a companion's romantic history, the other should too. In a world where different sexuality is just considered part of the mortal experience, and I think if one gender learns about a character's sexual history, both should.
