I never understood why teaching Fenris to read was a flirt option.

He might feel uncomfortable doing it with someone he wasn't extremely close to?  Though I'd still have liked to offer

I, er, actually romanced Seb. I am worried about it being retconned.

My only regret is that they didn't follow through with the Exalted March DLC for DA2, i was looking forward to stabbing the life out him, because i hated him so much, his born-again vibe was far more off putting than Leliana's in DAO.
Just clarify i'm a atheist raised in catholic family and don't per say have a problem with religious people , all but two of my friends are religious but the issue i take with Sebastian is how he went about it all the time. I don't shove my views or opinions on unwilling listeners and i expect the same.

Sorry for the rant but i got it off my back and feel much better for it . -_-

I still take that option even on my Hawkes that don't romance him. I don't believe it affects anything if that's the only flirt option you ever take with Fenris-- and it doesn't sound like a flirt. It's just an offer to teach him to read. Sweet, but not necessarily a come on if I remember rightly.

Maybe. But if you're friend with Fenris , it seems normal to propose to teach him.

Even if he feels uncomfortable.

Why must it come to "owing an apology" or "taking turns in the priviledge box" ? Why can't everyone just have equal options ?

I think the point was that it would be great for them to be equal, but if there were a group that had more, it would be nice for it to be a group that hasn't had more already.

Yup, that's how I take it too.
I'll be fine with this scenario.

I agree about Anders, but I thought the healing trope with Fenris was extremely well done. Short of Kaidan, by far my favorite Bioware romance.

It bothered me because, essentially, our romantic encounter would inescapable be intertwined with his past abuse. I would have preferred that the romantic moments came at different times. Fenris actually has two beautiful conversations, both of those times when he's downing the wine he found, where I thought we should have had our romantic scene. But instead it was coupled with his actual encounters with his abusive past, as he struggled to work through his feelings. I didn't like it.

I agree, too.

Just for the hypothetical discussion though, what if we got a lesbian Vivienne and a bisexual guy? Then straight men (the group that has had far and away more total options in bioware game romances) would have 2 (the same # they've always had in DA games) and the other 3 (traditionally disenfranchised) groups would each have 3 options, a nice apology for those groups getting the short end of the sick in bioware games.

I mean, I know there would probably be chaos, but I can't say i'd really feel bad if they did something like that?

I think if there's unfairness there should be a good reason for it: like a 5/3 gender split. If there's a 4/4 gender split and straight men still get left out...then it just feels like they're punishing straight men in this game. Which is silly.

There is a difference between "Bioware owes gay men an apology and giving them 3-4 options is the only proper compensation for Inquisition" vs. "If the last two options are to be dudes, and it gave gay men more options this time around, then I'd be okay with it."  Maria, among others, like Daveliam, and myself, have been expressing the latter.

No one has been expressing that it *must* be this way.  I am certain we would all be more than happy if the options were equal for everyone.  This is just in the case that should the last two LIs not make options equal, then it'd be nice if the minority group that is most often overlooked gets more options this one time.  As opposed to the usual getting the lion's share and the same particular group getting the lesser amount.

Silly is a very polite way to put it,it would be a shitty move whether its gay men/lesbians/straight men or women that get excluded just "because".

I agree they would get the usual and we would get something extra this time around. I think the reaction would be on par with Sera reveal as a female only LI. But hey i had to survive two Mass Effect games without any option for me so i think if they don't get any extras this game the fabric of the universe won't tear itself apart.

See I never felt like Sebastian was trying to shove religion down my throat. He barely ever talked about it with me. One time *one time* had he actually bothered me during Legacy when I went to send the Tethras ancestor to the stone. Something about it being better to burn the body to send it to the Maker.

Oddly enough that single moment made me feel like he was actually out of character. lol

My great grandmother is a very dedicated Presbyterian Christian; my grandma and grandpa are Catholic; my aunt is Atheist; uncle is Agnostic; one of my best friends is Jewish; another is Mormon; and my mom is Wiccan. I've been exposed to many religion's and only felt like the first one I brought up was being forced on me. But she's very old school so I don't blame her for not understanding that views are very different now from how they used to be.

Sebastian is so open minded in comparison to a lot of negative run ins I've had from *several* different religious groups. He actually shocked me because he wasn't an overbearing "know it all" Andrastian.

I felt like Leliana tried to convert my Warden (when I played characters who didn't worship the Maker) and she brought it up with Morrigan 2 or 3 times. She made me uncomfortable in that manner :/
Sebastian encouraged but never actually told me "This is how it is" in any manner. I was pleasantly surprised with his character. :)

*His eyes still creep the **** out of me though lol

This would be a very interesting approach for Bioware. They'd have a LOT of heat for it though.

Homosexuals getting less options - doesn't matter

Straight men getting less options - unfair

I honestly don't care much about the gender-gated options at this point. Everyone has two options for now which is fine.

I'm more interested in the story reasons for the race-gatings...

I'd be surprised if you didn't have five options in this game too. Sera, Josephine, Cullen, Bull and I'll eat my shoe if one of the remaining romances isn't into women.

Since Cassandra is available only to straight men (Player Characters), I'm pretty satisfied with my options.

I don't know if sometimes people realize what they say about fairness and equality compared every single time to the past and history, like, " we were disadvantaged, it's their turn, it's only fair and justice. Or it is fine because they never were disadvantaged "

I have never changed my stance. If it's unfair, it's unfair. The past doesn't matter. And it's silly because, you have new people with new games, they never did anything to justify Bioware being unfair to them.

The past is the past, history is history. It can't be changed, but it can be improved. In real life, I don't ask for white people to be disadvantaged because black people were / still are discriminated. I just want equality for everyone, and discriminations to be erased everywhere regardless of the past.

And It's been a long time that i'm thinking this, but I stayed silent because I kinda understand where this feeling comes from. But really, it is wrong.

I played DA2 with him as my default rogue so i got my fair share of "Maker talk" but when i took Isabela with me and Fenris they made it all better , especially Isabela, she was a spitfire that one. Leliana was my rogue in every DAO playthrough and i never felt like she tried to convert me. There was one time when some of the other companions asks what the Warden thinks about Leliana's faith and the answer i gave was : " i believe that she believes what she believes "

i don't think Bioware owes anyone an apology, it's their story, their characters, let them do what they want with them. I enjoy the romances like most here but they aren't the major factor for me in playing these games.

I don't think it is unfair for some people to get fewer romance options on some games, if there isn't a sense that it will always be those same people who get less.
