I'm speaking if I picked a race (say Qunari) if Cullen's gated against it my only f/m option is IB.

It's a speculation at this point if he is gated.

Humans will probably have the most options since 80% of players choose that, Elves will be second and I think Dwarves are the least played. The wildcard in this is Qunari since its a new race that many will be wanting to try out.

Well there's a new poll thread in the Scuttlebutt forum that has about 400 BSNers responding about who they are going to play as their first character in DA: I and it's 40% humans, 25% elves, 25% qunari, and 10% dwarves (roughly). Of course this only represents BSNers. Still, it's interesting that humans are no where near the suggested 80% that people talk about.

It's been confirmed that only 2 options to be race-gated for story purposes, so you would get at least 2 options if 8 options are divided equally between sexual orientations and genders.

I'm quoting someone else on the 80% but still most players use humans so I doubt humans will be restricted much if at all

Well we kind of already know this since Iron Bull and Josephine are confirmed not to be race gated so thats 2 for each race and each gender lol

That's assuming that the straight and gay options are not race-gated, though. If, for example, Dorian is gated against dwarves, then I'm back to just IB as my only 'option'.

The DA:O numbers are literally from over a million different gamers.

We also finish the game and many of us replay. We're statistical oddities on the best of days.

I see what your saying, like if you want to romance a specific gender, and the other option is race gated, so you're only left with 1 of the same gender. Well, hopefully, the last 2 will be bisexual

So that means that if Cassandra, Cullen, Sera, or Dorian are gated, then one of the last two LIs has to 'make up' for that gating by being available to the gated group. Does that make sense?

Yeah that does make sense- the last 2 have to replace any missed options

I still feel pretty confident that it's going to be a 2/4/2 sexuality split.  I'm not so confident that it's going to be a 4/4 gender split though.

 

The thing that I just can't shake is that there were going to be three race-gated LI's until IB got 'fixed' and they've been pretty clear that providing choices for all race/gender/sexuality combos is important (hence, The Chart ™).  I think that this has implications for who the last two LI's are.  I wouldn't be surprised to see two race-gated bisexual male LI's (or maybe a race-gated straight and race-gated bi male LI each) as the last two.

 

Vivienne's Valentine's Day card might have been a clue too.  I do wish I could be her Valentine, but I suspect that she is just teasing me......

Yes I know. But say if the story reasons were for both Cullen and Solas. And they both were gated to the same races...I'd be stuck with1 f/m option. I'm merely asking is that possibly the case.

So does that mean he was going to be one of the two who were to be race gated for "Story-reasons"? Because those suggest that they had a story reason prepared.

No, there was originally 3 race-gated LIs, IB being one.

It wouldn't necessarily need to be. My point was more that the people who are looking for 'even Steven' splits might be barking up the wrong tree.

There is an uneven distribution of companions with regard to gender, which people said wouldn't happen. And now we find out that there were, up until very recently, uneven distributions of gated companions as well. It wouldn't surprise me if it's a 5/3 gender spoilt for romances as well.
