Dammit. Stop being witty and clever. I'm out of likes. Also, how do you add someone to your ignore list?
Not sure. Against my better judgement, I never choose to ignore trolls. I often try to out-troll them instead. Lol

They said that about Anders & Kaidan too.
In the end the team will do what they'll do despite how random people perceive the characters.
Yeah sure it's their characters, their story but still, nah. Like it was already established in DA2 that he prefers women, if they alter this I'd be surprised.

To be fair, people also thought Cullen would be bi. So, I'm not saying he couldn't, but Varric is an even harder one to tackle than Cullen. Kaidan was probably due to no room for another bi male to be added, Anders was in a game where all LIs were bi. I'm not sure if this will be the same. But we'll see.
But with his talk about "bisexual erasure" at the Building a Better Romance scene which apparently people jump to when characters who can be romanced by either don't go "Hey, I'm bisexual.", hoping for them to do a blank slate character is a waste of time now. I know I shouldn't be snippy at him, but it sucks.
Sounds like Merrill's romance. Too bad they decided to not leave well enough alone and had to clarify it.

But was it real representation if she was Bi all along and you just didn't know? After watching the GaymerX panel, Bioware seems very open to trying out different kinds of characters in future games, so I wouldn't assume that there won't be a character in the future who expresses their sexuality in the same sort of way that you do. ![]()
You've chosen to engage him in battle, so we'll just have to wait and see then, hmmm?

I'd rather have lived in blissful ignorance, yes. Sometimes a harmless lie is better than a painful truth.
And as I said, a lot of people jump on that for being "bisexual erasure" or something, and those people outnumber me so I'm not expecting Bioware to take steps backwards in representing bisexuals for my orientation. I hope they do, but I'm not expecting it.
By a ban? Or just deleting the post?
Neither. He'll just own you once again with all the intelligence and thoughtfulness that you're obviously incapable of.
And that's where we begin to step into the dangerous territory of "what does a bisexual character look like"?
We already went over this in the past, but for any that really need to know what a bisexual looks like:

There is only ONE double standard here and that is the one you are defending. In the real world gays represent about 5% of the population perhaps? Yet you seem to expect an unrealistic proportion of content to be made to specifically appeal to that piece of the market. That's not accurate representation. That's not some sort of achievement. Of course you're going to have to lower your expectations when those expectations aren't grounded in reality. That's life for everybody. But I suppose you'll just claim I have "straight privilege" or "white privilege" or some other nonsense. One moment you'd speak of "respect" and in the next you'd dismiss other viewpoints as "privileged". Do you think those in question have never had to work for a living, never had to deal with any challenges, are less worthy than others? That is nothing short of arrogance as is this entire postmodern use of the concept of "privilege".
So, question: what precisely is your beef with romance equality?
Oh, please! There are straight people who enjoy the lgbt content, please don't speak for all of us. I'm going male for Dorian, and it will be glorious!
This, so much.
I'm a straight female, and I'm so incredibly excited for some of the other options that AREN'T straight options. I have a few Inquisitors for Sera and Dorian planned, and I'm crossing my fingers for a bi Vivienne romance so I can romance her with a female.
To be fair, people also thought Cullen would be bi. So, I'm not saying he couldn't, but Varric is an even harder one to tackle than Cullen. Ah yes DA2, what a dreadful game that was.
And the Kaidan one came outta left-field, nobody expected that. ![]()
I'd bet it will be more of a let-down than ME3's ending was.
If you really feel that way, the exit is up at the top were you can close tab. Or better yet, close your browser and get some air. Don't let our laughter hit you too hard on the way out.
However, I do sincerely thank you for helping keep this thread active. Also, for giving us all the chuckle. You may have been trying to be negative, but you actually did us a favor by keeping this at the top of the front page. ![]()
I'd bet it will be more of a let-down than ME3's ending was. And is twerking still a thing? I thought Miley Cyrus was either in a coma, dead, or in rehab by now.
Gurl, pls. I have been twerking before Miley. She just made it into a pop-culture phenomenon. AND DON"T BE HATIN ON HER. *Finger snap*
Oh, and why is my user name so whacked out when you quote me? Are you purposefully trying to slander my good name?

Same here.
Wasn't there a quote from one of the GaymerX panels about more people romancing Leliana as a woman than played as a rogue? There's obviously a lot of people who are accessing LGBT content, so the "only a small percentage of the population" argument just doesn't fly.
This guy doesn't want to see the other side of things. He's already stated he doesn't believe that there's any problem with how the industry handles women, LGBT issues or race. He's on full defensive mode and he's not going to listen to anyone's actual points. It seems like a lost cause for anyone to dedicate any time to this. There's cases where people come in with ignorance about the issues and explaining the situation to them can broaden the way they see things. This isn't one of those times. Ignore list seems like the best option.

Sandybear, try to keep it on topic, dear. You don't need another hit from the mods.
You head up to your profile, enter into "My Settings," then from the list bar click on "Ignore Preferences." You should be able to add a person's name and choose what content to ignore from them.
Thanks!

D'awwwwww!!!!!! Cute!!!!!!!!

There was! And I think Patrick (It was Patrick, right?) responded with a "does that mean we should get rid of rogues?"
So much sass, I love it

Cute snow leopard cub.
There's also the value from having options even if you don't use them. I'm not really fond of playing as humans or mages, but I appreciate that those are options for those who want to.

I wouldn't say that Weekes' own precedents would give him the right amount of ground to sass about lesbians, but I appreciate the sentiment.

Me too. I've never understood the people who take the "if I can't have it/don't like it, then no one should have access to it!" stance. More choice is good in an RPG, I think.

It's what you get for browsing the forums and keeping up with all the news
.
I'm sorry that this topic makes you feel less represented in games. I've responded to your desire for sexual ambiguity in romances many times rather negatively because I always thought that it bisexual erasure rather than you feeling that these characters were earnestly representing your orientation. Unfortunately, bisexual erasure is a very real problem in media, and because bisexuality is a significantly more common sexual identity than yours it seems likely that they'll be more inclined to avoid erasure. But you should bring your sexuality up more, because if we didn't know about it, chances are some of the devs may not have either. It's worth talking to them, maybe they'll hear your views and think about how a truly sexually ambiguous character could be implemented into a game.
