I liked for that in particular.  I had no clue Sasha spoke from personal orientation expression when coming to the discussions about the DA2 companions and preferred romance mechanics.  I thought it was more from a place of preference in wanting to allow the player to project a sexuality onto the LI depending on who they were partnered with, so it was interesting to learn it was more speaking out of a self-identification place.    I can understand that desire to see something you relate to.

I apologize for not explaining that. I wasn't comfortable enough on the BSN to divulge that. If it wasn't for this outburst of mine, I probably still wouldn't have.

Doriansexual.  Whatever Dorian wants, when he wants it, where he wants it.

Spoiler

I'm still amazed at the job that the DA team has shown so far with Dorian.  I hadn't considered a m/m relationship before, but I'm definitely rolling a hot older man for him.

Pardon me my allergies are kicking in it seems

Actually, a Bisexual Blackwall would break so many stereotypes.

Still holding out hope.

I feel like being duty-focused but available for romance is rather counter-productive  :P

Well, I'm glad that you are able to talk about it, even if it took bad news to do be the last straw.  If you ever want to PM me just to rant, you know where to find me.  This sounds like it's not been easy for you.

Unfortunately, given that he has fewer reasons to be racegated than Varric or Solas, I'd rather that he not be the one. I want to keep all gates away from Vivienne, because I know they wouldn't favor me.

He was actually talking overall. With IB being "fixed" from his race-gating, certain race combos of straight female and gay male PCs are going to get more options. It's unavoidable (or they had less and now they have more).

Iron Bull wasn't fixed yet when he made the "candy" comment. It was some time ago. It was specifically in response to a question about race gating. But, yes, they made it clear that some race combos would probably get less. He said gender/sexuality took priority over race.

I would totally like to see more characters who are unclear or still discovering their sexuality, alongside those who are more solid on their orientation.

I feel like a lot of people would take this as an opportunity to "make" someone straight or gay, though.

I just want someone stable, accepts the PC listens to their problems and is a generally nice person.

No whining, tragedy comparison crap, no "I'm secretly insane." none of that.

A villian romance on the side tho would be very much appreciated.

One thing I do wish is they'd they'd vary the archetypes a bit. I'd love a no-nonsense duty-focused character, but available for women. Making them a man is a bonus.

Isn't that what Cullen is?

I understand why people have argued against it, believe me. That's why I knew they'd never do something like that again after DA2. Unfortunately, that left DA2 as the place where I felt represented because for years now they never addressed it, leaving Merrill as an example of my orientation, so for that to be torn down leaves me with nothing except my own characters.

At least now I got a term for it, or at least a term for something very close: demisexual.

While I don't ever think they will do a "sexually ambiguous" characters, I can definitely see them adding an ace/demi/grayace character. I would hope if they do though, they make it clear and have the character define themselves as such. I also don't think having a character as such would take away from any other type of romance.

They mentioned the idea of considering it so, don't give up hope!

There is only ONE double standard here and that is the one you are defending. In the real world gays represent about 5% of the population perhaps? Yet you seem to expect an unrealistic proportion of content to be made to specifically appeal to that piece of the market. That's not accurate representation. That's not some sort of achievement. Of course you're going to have to lower your expectations when those expectations aren't grounded in reality. That's life for everybody. But I suppose you'll just claim I have "straight privilege" or "white privilege" or some other nonsense. One moment you'd speak of "respect" and in the next you'd dismiss other viewpoints as "privileged". Do you think those in question have never had to work for a living, never had to deal with any challenges, are less worthy than others? That is nothing short of arrogance as is this entire postmodern use of the concept of "privilege".

All right, I'll bite.

So... what are you suggesting? We should just give up and just adhere to the Status Quo and forget about hoping for more representation and well-written ones at that? Trouble is, if you're gonna go by the "if them social minorities want representation, they should do it themselves!", Bioware looks like they can be in a position to do that- I mean, there are more women writers than there are men, and one of the lead writers identifies himself as non-heterosexual... so they can. I mean, your view of equality is along the lines of "just give everyone equal amounts of cookies, regardless if they already have some before," rather than "mate, you're going for thirds and there are those who are still waiting for a first- would you sit back down?". This is that, but on a much grander scale and one you can't seem to comprehend because putting LGBTQ, female, and PoC characters to the forefront more just for variety based on what's already out there is an "imbalance". But I could talk shop about representation all day and why it matters, but despite the approximate 5% the population out there who identify as part of LGBTQ spectrum, it seems the majority, at least for Bioware gamers, are in favour of more prominent portrayals of these people.

If you want the things to be "as they are", I don't think the discussions in this forum would be to your liking. Sorry. I don't think I can say any more than that.

Ah, right. I tend to glom onto one woman and then never let go; once I've romanced the best, I can't avoid continuing to romance her, even if it means missing the second-best.

It's perfectly understandable.  It's a private matter.  Heck, I haven't talked about myself, personally, being bisexual in the last year as much as I have talked about it on the forums, for these discussions, in the last month.  ;P  Because it's a personal matter and I tend not to go around speaking about myself in that way.  Engaging in academic discussions about sexuality and LGBT issues, sure, frequent and often, but that's on exterior subject matter and not personal anecdotal ones.  Though it may have been an outburst caused from something troubling to you, I do at least feel like I can understand better where you're coming from and the context of the previous discussions.
