I just hope the writers shared the same sentiments that he expressed in his most recent posts when mapping out the LI's.

I just want everyone to have the same number of options this time around, which is why I want the last two LI's to be a bisexual Vivienne and a bisexual guy (hoping for Blackwall or Solas).

Well, to be fair, my privilege is that I have a better understanding of "straight man getting more the others" as opposed to say, something like "straight women get more than gay women" and other forms of intersectionality (which I am only just recently learning about).

So I'm probably more prone to think that one way of doing things is better, while it may not necessarily be as good (or even better) from a different perspective that comes from different experiences.

I'm not really against the idea of having some people get more romances - but have a bias against giving those bonus romances towards straight men at this point if that were to happen, because I think there's a strong legacy of straight men having the most representation.  That said, I'm reasonably certain that some would still be upset if it were straight women, or gay men, or gay women, that came out on top because of intersectional reasons.

Just wanted to be clearer on that particular point as I feel that's where the conversation had gone.

Flip that scenario, and you've got how I'm running my romance lol

Oh Elu.  That's so cute.  You think Dorian is old enough to be a "Daddy".  I mean, that would only make sense for a teena......  oops, never mind. ;)

I thought she was in ME3, but I only did the friendship with her.

Yeah ME2 to me shows she's not stable. "I couldn't let you go." handing someone's corpse over to a terrorist organization that may have subjected them to one of the most traumatic experiences in their life, keeping armor they died horribly in a display case. Getting all revenge happy in LOTSB. Holding a torch for over 3 years...

No. So much no.

Ah, right. I tend to glom onto one woman and then never let go; once I've romanced the best, I can't avoid continuing to romance her, even if it means missing the second-best.

I was the same with Fenris. Somehow couldn't stop romancing the guy. I loved the healing kind of relationship between him and a male mage Hawke.

Dorian though...damn, I'm hooked on him.

Isn't that what Cullen is?

Maybe. I hope he'll be "the one" so to speak, even if I'm presently more interested in Dorian and Josephine for other reasons.

I just want someone stable, accepts the PC listens to their problems and is a generally nice person.

No whining, tragedy comparison crap, no "I'm secretly insane." none of that.

This. I get that the DA2 cast were thematically a bunch of messed-up misfits and outsiders, but playing through a bunch of drama-heavy romances while the main story just piles on the heartbreak is pretty draining. I'd like my DAI romance to be someone my inquisitor can lean on.

So, like Liara?

Liara's a good example (in ME3). I'd also say Garrus. Those two were both very sweet, supportive romances, and they balanced out the rest of the stuff that was happening.

I count ME2 as part of her characterization. In ME3 she's as stable as one can be given genocidal robots are destroying everything yes. In ME2? Hell no.

Exactly.

If Liara lost some of holding a torch forever tendancies and her ME2 persona had a wee bit less obsession with revenge I could see her as stable...as it is...

My opinion is that straight women getting more options is only extremely marginally better than straight men getting more options. Straight romance, generally, is ingrained in almost all media and straight women have gotten substantially more options in nearly every Bioware game. To me, there's almost no difference.

A villian romance on the side tho would be very much appreciated.

Inquisitor: So... I see that you've been the one who's been creating these rifts...

Big Bad: Yes... And you're the one who's been closing them.

Inquisitor: There's one more I need to close.

Big Bad: The Great Rift?

Inquisitor: No, the one between us.

Big Bad: I never wanted to open that one in the first place.

This just reinforces the problem. It's privileged and advantaged to say "lets just set realistic expectations." It does nothing to weaken my resolve in this matter, however (it probably strengthens it). While I won't disagree that, sadly, it's wishful thinking to assume that people can actually be respectful to each other, that doesn't mean I'll stop advocating for it.

My statement, however, indicated the word "ideally." I recognize it's an ideal.

If you think that this undermines the quality of the games, then you're telling me that you feel the existence of LGBT content is a problem, and with the implied threat of "no victory" (i.e. our financial ruin), then the reality is that if you don't advocate as well, your inaction and willingness to defer to the status quo will have allowed a game company that you presumably enjoy go out of business because of things like sexism and homophobia. Because doing nothing is the same as siding with the privileged.

(it should be noted that I don't believe us seeking to be inclusive will be bad for us, but I guess time will tell)

Missed your reply.

Sincerely appreciate your effort and resolve, don't get me wrong, I am not saying you / we should ease up on trying to push an agenda for equality. I continue to adore the work you and BioWare have done and doing.

My point on expectation is simple. I am not trying to put myself in your shoes, I won't fill it, but if I was on the other side, writer / dev, my thoughts would be: "1. we are making a video game; 2. We are working on breaking down industry norms such as racial & sexual orientation stereotypes; 3. How do we achieve 1 with the right balance of 2". Majority of BioWare gamers know what to expect. BioWare is way ahead of what the industry would like equality to be.

Maybe martyrdom was is a strong word and I regret if you have misunderstood me. It is clear that there are lots of variables that have to be considered nowadays. someone in a previous post suggested writing and designing games around one orientation, this is what got me off because it implies everyone would loose the freedom to choose who and what their character will be.

EDIT: Like everyone else I just want to play and enjoy an exciting video game.

Oh yeah. Was most definitely not counting ME2. But she really grew on me as my Shep's best friend in ME3.

I'm still amazed at the job that the DA team has shown so far with Dorian.  I hadn't considered a m/m relationship before, but I'm definitely rolling a hot older man for him.

I totally want to see the hot leather daddy older gentleman you create once that time comes.  I want screenshots.

Oh yeah she wasn't bad at all in ME3. My main issue was all the her burstin in Shep's quarters scenes. If the devs did make such an LI I would like it if the PC could go to them when they needed to talk and not an auto scene especially not when another character (such as the PC's LI) could do such a comfort.

If you've ever played Final Fantasy X, I'm basing my male character after Auron.  If you don't know who that is, google a pic of "Auron FFX" and tell me what you think.  I'd like your and Elu's opinion on this.

Iron Bull wasn't fixed yet when he made the "candy" comment. It was some time ago. It was specifically in response to a question about race gating. But, yes, they made it clear that some race combos would probably get less. He said gender/sexuality took priority over race.

I believes that what Gaider meant by gender/sexuality being a priority over race is that they want all Inquisitors, regardless of race, to have at least 2 choices in all gender/sexuality options. They want gender/sexuality choices to be equitable across races. Not to have male dwarves with just on gay LI or none.

I'm not sure if I'm going to base my first male on Shiki or Aizen...maybe a mix.
